This is really nice work Tracy, very true to life of one of your greys and if it makes you happy then sketch your little pea pickin heart out.
-
Thursday morning 8:30 am and it is putting down the snow right now, yippee, I been waiting for this all winter. We have several inches and expecting more. I made it into work but I may be stuck here if it gets too bad.:ohmy:
-
I've had another weigh in and 4 more pounds gone and over 3 more inches are missing from my physique, not bad considering that included the holiday period of time. I go to Curves at least 3 times a week and use my elliptical machine also, haven't been walking much, too cold and gets dark early.

Get sketching woman, I want to see some results soon. {Feel-good-000200BB}

You hang in there Kathy, it will all work out for the best and I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
-
I just checked out the pictures, you have a lovely baby grey, they are so adorable at that age and I know you can hardly wait to bring her home.
-
Well I would try the flighted bird way and see how it works out, you can always clip if that does not work for you and your situation, it really is an individual's choice.

Hello and welcome to the family, Kllorio, glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and your new grey. I like the name Midnight and do you already know that it is a female, you refer to it as she. What a wonderful birthday present to yourself, a Tag coming home the first week of March. Please read thru the many threads on various topics for lots of useful information and do not hesitate to ask specific questions you may have. We will do our best to get you an answer and help you in any way we can. If you have some pictures of Midnight that you would like to share with us we would love to see her.

Hello, Kllorio, I am posting a link to a thread on clipping the wings that might help you to decide what to do about your new grey's wings. http://www.greyforums.net/forums/african-grey/25408-the-african-grey-to-clip-or-not-to-clip.html#25408 Why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us a little about you.

Horray!! Tinkerbell back with the Yu family again
judygram replied to shanlung's topic in The GREY Lounge
This is wonderful news, Shanlung, your prayers have been answered and I am so happy for you and I know that a heavy burden has been lifted from your heart. This is proof that prayers do work and you are truly blessed. Wonderful!!! Wonderful!!! Wonderful!!! Wonderful!!! -
I agree Lovie, this is interesting for a 10 year old grey to act this way, and he won't even come out of his cage. Something has changed in his environment and they hate any kind of change or something has happened that he is fearful of you now. Try to think of anything recently that is different no matter how trival to try to find out what has caused this change in behavior.

They don't get too wet on the back, it kind of just rolls off of that, but try to get under the wing where it joins the body and get her pretty wet. So after her bath she does not preen herself, just sits there on her perch? They usually go to preening themselves but she is probably a little mad and she will do it when she calms down.
-
Josey grumbles when I do it but like I said I do it quickly and get it over with and she does not hold a grudge, so by the time she preens herself dry it is forgotten.
-
She really needs a bath about twice a week and spraying her would probably accomplish more than her trying to get a bath in her water dish. Get some of that aloe vera juice and spray her with that, undiluted, it is soothing to their skin. Josey does not care for it either but I do it anyway, I just do it real quickly and get it over with and she is fine with it.

Cosmo is constantly trying to get in my mouth!!
judygram replied to jimmycoop2005's topic in The GREY Lounge
Josey does not seem too interested in doing that but now my conure, Sunny tries to push her way in sometimes, I have my mouth closed and she tries to wedge in between my lips, is fascinated with it, but I don't let her succeed.:laugh: -
THE most important thing right now to the babies still being handfed is the food and they are gonna love the people who provide them with that for now but things change when they get home and their world opens up and expands. After you bring it home then you will be providing everything it needs and the bonding will begin.

Should be seeing something soon with all that time on your hands now..................................... {Feel-good-000200B9}

Otto is so cute and it reminds me of my Sunny, the permanent fixture on my shoulder and sometimes she grabs those talons into my shirt and holds on for dear life. She is so used to being there that I go around the house doing stuff and she just hangs on even if I bend over real quickly or whatever. She is my first parrot and I love her dearly. Thanks for sharing those pics of Otto with us, I just love the sun conure.

aming a frightened or aggressive African Grey
judygram replied to charlieparrot's topic in The GREY Lounge
Hello Nirav, you don't say how long you have had this grey but I am betting not for long. It does take time to build that trust with a grey before the bonding process will begin. And that being said, it could take a long time since he has been thru years of mistrust and being a mature bird he is somewhat set in his ways. Patience is key here, just open his door and allow him to come out on his own in his good time and he will eventually. Continue to talk to him and give him treats, you have to work at this slowly. He does not know that you mean him no harm, remember his past but with lots of time and patience I believe he will come around. Do not try to catch him with a blanket or trim his wings, he already has a mistrust of humans and that will only reinforce that more. Make sure his cage is in the room where all the action is going on, they do like to be with their flock, this is going to be a challenge but if you love this bird I believe you will win him over but patience, patience is your best friend right now. Keep us informed of how he progresses and introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us a little more about yourself and this grey, like what is his name? -
I should have said that you have only had her for a short time and the bond is not in place yet even though she is favoring your dad but give her time, talk to her and let her know you are around and she can trust you.
-
Since she has bitten you I bet you are hesitant to approach her and she knows that, if you show fear she will sense that and act accordingly. She probably favors your dad over you and that is why she does not bite him as much. If she has picked him as her favorite then there is not much you can do about that. I think you are going to have to overcome the fear of being bitten to be able to handle her and that means that you will suffer some more bites but in the long run she will know that biting you will not make you go away. Continue to offer treats and show her that your hands are nothing to be afraid of.
-
I like that term Dan, poopological!!!!! What they eat does affect the color of poops, give them some fresh beets and see what the poops look like, you guessed it, red and if you didn't remember that you fed them beets it could be alarming to see. For your own peace of mind you can always contact a vet and ask their opinion or take them in for a checkup especially if it has been a while since their last visit.

It looks like a molt to me too but the bare spots are a concern but the aloe vera juice should help, give her a bath twice a week with it. Please don't give Lulu up, I know you love her and that love is returned even though she may appear that it isn't and I understand money is a problem now but I find that life has a way of working out for the best and I feel that you should not give up on her, not now you need her as much as she needs you. Keep us informed Kathy and let us hear from you more often.
-
Well sure, being the subject she has to help, thanks for sharing some wonderful pictures of Talon with us, I think she likes posing.
