  1. Lets hope not, and Josey has yet to really bite me and she has never drawn blood, not even broken the skin but I know I have been lucky so far and one day my luck will run out, ouch:ohmy:
  2. I think you answered your own question, you talk to yourself and that explains it. My Josey laughs too and she does a pretty good imitation of me laughing and that is hilarious to hear yourself laugh when your mouth is closed:blink:  Why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us a little more about you and your grey.
  3. Carol why don't you post a picture of the beak so we can see what you are talking about, I can't really comment until I can see it.
  4. We do grow our own in the spring and summer, you would be amazed at the difference in taste of things you raise yourself.
  5. Hello Echolight and welcome to the family, glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Zephyr, what an unusual name but I like it. I am sorry to hear of the loss of your parakeet but happy to hear you have acquired an african grey, there is quite a bit of difference in these two birds. I would imagine she is mimicing lots of sounds and noises and dog growls are a favorite. She will master the pretty bird and a lot more than that before long. Read thru the many threads here for lots of useful and helpful information and ask questions if you have any, we will do our best to get you some answers and help you in any way we can. I would go easy on the grapes, they do contain a lot of sugar and not much nutrition to them, use them as a treat, reward or a bribe if necessary. If you have any pictures of Zephyr you would like to share with us we would love to see her.
  6. Gosh Kristin, I may never touch a fresh vegetable again after that sermon on frozen versus fresh veggies but you are absolutely right and thanks for pointing that out for us.
  7. Has anything changed in his life in the last 2 weeks for something is causing him to pluck at such a young age? Has he been checked out by an avian vet? I would do that as soon as possible to rule out a physical problem. Why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us a little about you and Ash.
  8. No we will just stick with Berna, the shorter version.
  9. Do not use the teflon pans or any cookware with that in it and that includes the Foreman grill, we just had a new member post that they lost their grey to one of those appliances. It is not far enough away to be just in the next room, do what you have to but it is not worth the life of your grey please.
  10. I did view it but I can't hear it, his beak is always open and ready to receive food it looks like, can't wait to hear it later. Thanks for sharing with us.
  11. No I haven't yet, no sound on computer at work, but I will check it out when I get home tonight, I am sure I will love it.
  12. BMustee wrote: I see this in Sunny, my sun conure, and she is very aggressive toward one person, my granddaughter.
  13. Boy I tell you Ronda, you got it bad, real bad, but you go girl, I can't wait for you to bring this baby home either, now how about that!!!
  14. Ian, these are simply beautiful drawings, I love them, and I hope you do the Galah next, that is my next favorite parrot for the color. Thanks for sharing with us.

    Meats

I think they all go bonkers for cheese, my two do and it is the only time that my hubby can get that close to Josey is when he is offering cheese.:silly: :silly:
  16. I'll just bet one day soon you will be back on here proud as pudding to say she said her first word but regardless you will love and adore her forever I'm sure.
  17. Terri, don't forget about Dan and Bruce, they both promised their help in earlier posts, gotta have a couple of men in on this, know what I mean:P :P
  18. Patience, patience and more patience, she may talk yet.
  19. Good morning out there in greyt land and it is a sunny day here in VA, cool and getting cooler with maybe some precipitation by the weekend, snow, ice or rain, don't know yet, I say bring on some snow, all is well at 8:30 am on a Tuesday morningB) B)
  20. There is not much you can do to get them to talk, you just may have one that doesn't and there are a few that don't. Maybe yours is just taking her time, she could still talk yet. Instead of playing a talking cd to her, just talk to her yourself, I think they pick up words more from our conversations than from some cd.
  21. Try smearing it with some of the favored sweet potato mashed up, my Josey loves sweet potatoes too.
  22. Thats good for a start, this is something that will take time and patience so look for small steps small gains but it does look promising to me too.

    Change CAG name

I would think you could, just don't say the old name anymore and just use the new one, in time it will recognize it's new name since the bird is just 1 to 2 years old. Now if the bird is older it may be more of a problem, anyone else with an opinion.
  24. I just love the blue ones Tari, they are so adorable, I might just have to break down one day and get me one. Thanks for sharing some pics with us of them.
  25. I look forward to seeing those pictures as you get them, you and Raposa will hardly be able to contain yourselves until April!!!
