  1. Tari you should thank your hubby properly for making that stand for Doodlebug even though he won't get to use it until he steps up for you, maybe Topaz being on it and enjoying it will be the incentive he needs. Thanks for sharing it with us.
  2. Yes and more!!! Do you think you will live to see your children's grandchildren?
  3. Because I fell in love with them. Why did you get your first parrot?
  4. Marley is a beautiful grey and like most she likes her head scratched, thanks for sharing a couple of pics of her with us:P
  5. Thanks Tracy, I never thought about using it that way, but it worked didn't it!!!
  6. Tracy we only dish out what we get, right girls:woohoo:
  7. Don't push for too much too soon, you really have to take it slowly, we don't stress time and patience here for nothing, it can be your best friend in working with greys. Do not stick your finger into the cage thru the bars, they do tend to bite, you want to be offering your hand for him to step up on from the cage door. Be confident when you go to have him step up, put your hand in front of him at lower chest level and gently push toward him while saying step up and see if he will do that for you. He may just need more time to adjust to his new home and feel more comfortable there. He does not hate you, he just doesn't trust you yet and that will come with time, trust has to be earned it is not a given. The belly shaking you describe is normal, they all do it. I think you are doing fine at this point, just keep talking to him and offering treats from time to time and he will warm up to you more as time goes by. Keep us updated on his progress.
  8. Yes she is Connie, Goldie is a beautiful B&G and I know you are so proud of her, she looks very healthy and you are taking good care of her, thanks for sharing her with us.
  9. You will have to work on the trust again, but lots of time and patience will get you there, just don't rush it. They all love tearing up newspaper and I don't think he is ingesting any of it, there should be little bits and pieces laying around underneath where he is doing it. For the potty training, just do a search using those words and you will find some threads that deal with that very thing.
  10. Beautiful pictures of your amazons MommaFawkes and thanks for sharing them with us, admin will move them to the appropriate room.
  11. What a great bunch of Cags, Tracy, and this is proof positive that you can house greys together and have a bond with them, you look so contented with them and they with you, what a loving home you all have. Thanks for sharing this with us, you don't have to give up the closeness with your greys just because they share the same space with other greys.
  12. Congrats Imme on the purchase of your new grey baby, and you will not be able to contain yourself until April when you can finally bring it home. Just continue to do what you are doing, read all you can and ask questions you may have, we will be here to help you every step of the way. I look forward to seeing some pics of the new baby so get them up as soon as possible, we are excited for you, can't you tell:lol:
  13. Yes please Tari, post the updates on the one of Topaz, I may have to get one of Josey and/or Sunny.
  14. Thanks Tari for sharing that link with us, there are some enticing recipe ideas there I might give a try.
  15. Thanks Tari for sharing that with us, a must read for anyone contemplating getting a parrot for the first time. BTW, love your new signature with the addition of the parrotlet, Doodlebug, the one I mistook for Topaz:lol:
  16. I can see you are beaming with joy over your accomplishments and rightly so, you go girl, you have made great strides in a short time, patience does work wonders when it comes to greys. Boy I tell you, you are briming with achievements today, you have been busy and those other obstacles will be history in time if things go like they have been for you and Greyce.B) Time, patience and a lot of love work wonders, keep up the good work:) B)
  17. Christo it can be hectic for any of us at times, but you are welcome to join in as much as you want and don't be afraid of stepping on anyone's toes, we are an understanding bunch here for the most part. I love it when a lot of the members can participate in the threads and the fun.B) Josey was not too fond of the palm nuts the first time she was given one but I am going to continue to work with her, I too am envious of Tracy's greys love of them but if they have never had one in their life who can blame them. No snow here just cool and it is raining right now I believe, but wish it would snow, I just love a good snowfall. Thanks for letting us know you are still around and please do jump right in when you feel like it.
  18. Well as long as he gets a good misting that is ok and he keeps you company so it is good all around. Have you tried using cold water for the misting, it has been mentioned in other threads that they actually prefer cooler water to bathe in.
  19. I am sorry that Marley has had several homes and one of them the owner yelled and beat her cage with his stick, how horrible for her but she has a good and final home now. Thats nice that she finally has a home where she is loved and has the attention she deserves. Wow you really do have a small zoo going on there, and it keeps you busy I am sure. You must have a little of everything and lots of different birds, your house must be alive with the noise of all the animals enjoying themselves but it is a good kind of noise. I look forward to seeing some pictures of Marley and you can also post photos of your other birds in the other birds room, we have a place for everything here.
  20. Well I guess your signature works, I see your eclectus, both of them and they are very pretty too.
  21. Hello Kimmie and welcome to the family, we are so pleased you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Bailey. I know the next 5 weeks will probably be the longest weeks of your life when you are waiting for a new baby to arrive. I know you are excited and rightly so, it is not everyday that someone gets a grey but you are about to embark on a lifetime committment that will be most rewarding. Do you have any other birds or pets in your household? If you do have any dogs or cats, I am sure you will take the necessary precautions to make sure Bailey is safe around them and supervise the time he is out of his cage. I am sure you have already done a lot of research on greys but be sure to read as many of the threads here for lots of useful and helpful information. We have lots of members who are willing to share what they know and learn with all of us. Ask questions if you have any and we will do our best to get some answers and help you in any way we can. If you have pictures you would like to share with us we would love to see him.
  22. Hello Hedwigsmom and welcome to the family, we are so glad you decided to join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Hedwig. I am sorry to hear you are having some issues with her, a feather cyst removed sounds like quite an ordeal and it may have led her to chew blood feathers. I have not experienced this but I am sure with all the members we have her that someone has had that happen and will share that experience with us. It sounds like it was probably something painful to have happen to her. In any case read thru as many of the threads here for lots of useful and helpful information on a variety of topics. Please do ask questions if you have any and we will do our best to get you some answers and help you in any way we can. If you have any pictures of Hedwig you would like to share with us we would love to see her.
  23. That was a nice clear video this time and she says a lot of words, I guess she hears good girl a lot, thanks for sharing it with us and yes post more when you get them.
  24. ChickenDog, why don't you post a picture of your Meyers parrot for us to have a look at, I'm sure others would love to see him too. Scooby sounds like he was just waiting for you to come and take him home, I love these kind of stories where the bird picks you and not vice versa.
  25. Sorry, my mistake but it looked a little like Topaz that is why I said that, hey what do I know, I can't tell a quaker from a parrotlet:laugh: but he sure is cute in that bowl, mea culpa
