  1. Ronda is right, there are no silly questions here. I think you are doing fine with your bird at this point, you have taken in an adult bird and it just takes time for him to settle in and feel comfortable in a new home. The whistling and sounds you are describing are all normal vocalizations and I bet he will soon start talking again when he feels more like it. Please keep us updated on his progress but you are doing a good job so far so quit worrying.
  2. That grey looks older than 7 weeks to me also, are you sure the breeder said 7 weeks? I'm not sure about converting the balcony to an area to house the grey, I think a cage would be a better choice but then I can't see what it looks like, I guess it could work but you would have to make sure it was escape proof. The breeder should instruct you on how, when and all the whatifs about handfeeding but we also have several threads that explain it and weaning. You do have to be careful and know what you are doing, your bird's life depends on it. Let us know what you decide to do about getting this grey but we will support you with guidance and advice if you do take it.
  3. Hello Lynda and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Muffin and that is a great name. So Muffin thinks he is a human does he, I bet he is spoiled rotten, but then they all are, I know mine is. Who can resist such a lovely looking creature such as the grey. Glad to hear Muffin is a good eater, does he have a wide variety of foods he eats? Some of the members have greys that are picky about what they will eat but it is important to offer a well balanced diet. Please take a little time and read thru the many threads on various topics for lots of useful information and ask questions if you have any. We will do our best to get you some answers and help you in any way we can. If you have some pictures of Muffin you would like to share with us we would love to see him.
  4. We are here for you anytime Laurie and Siobhan is right, you have to do it for yourself, not for anyone else, just like the weight issue, it has to be for yourself and when you are ready to try again we will be behind you all the way.
  5. You mean thanks but no thanks LOL Ronda, get the kids some geckos, they are so cute:laugh:
  6. She changes it because she can, she is a whiz:P
  7. Aawwwww, he's a cute little fella, about as big as your pinkie huh, gosh that is small isn't it, thanks for sharing him with us.
  8. Joe you didn't take that shot so it will not count but I love the pic, you certainly can dig up some good ones.
  9. I love it Ronda and yes it is muddy in WV, just like here in VA, poor Ducky, yes you need to get him a mate.
  10. And I bet it was a wonderful imitation of the cat's meow too and Sweetheart can crow like a rooster, what a hoot!!! Thanks for sharing these with us for a good laugh:laugh:
  11. Greys respiratory systems are more sensitive to scents than we are but some of the members use Febreeze spray but not while the bird is in the room. Others will have more suggestions. Why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us a little about you and your grey if you have one.
  12. Hope I can say the same with Josey, so far no luck:(
  13. I guess 5 of them make for a lot of poop doesn't it Tracy, how many times a day do you go around the bird room and clean up that mess?
  14. Josey will poop in her cage and anywhere she happens to be, sometimes I think that if she didn't poop in her cage that would be great but there would be times that would not work too great, like when I was late getting home.B)

  16. Yeah that is worth it isn't it:laugh:
  17. You are kidding me, right!!!!
  18. You are lucky indeed for most do not allow much touching beyond the head. Josey tolerates me touching her but she does not particularly care for it. That is amazing that he obviously enjoys it but now you have to keep it up or he will get upset with ya, I guess that is the price to pay for the pleasure.
  19. The thread is not gone Heather and here it is and you are supposed to get karma http://www.greyforums.net/forums/the-photography-room/54301-photography-contest.html
  20. Yes please do get some video if you can, we would love to see it.
  21. They don't forget and it was only for 5 days, imagine how Bruce in Alaska does it, he is gone for 4 months straight in the fishing season but his birds greet him lovingly when he comes home for the other 8 months of the year.
  22. I'm proud of you Laurie, you didn't have to tell us the truth but you did and you realize why you started again. You didn't let me down, I know that when you do decide to quit again you will and this time you will succeed. Glad you had fun on that cruise.
  23. Well don't hold out on us Laurie, we want details girl!
  24. Josey wasn't too thrilled with the palm nut either on first try but now I am going to try again, maybe they need some time to think about it first. Wish me luck.
