I love your birds but I am a real sucker for kittens, and those are just adorable:kiss: I could just squeeze the dickens out of them, thanks for sharing them with us. :)
Thank you MommaFawkes for answering my question, I figured you probably did have a room just for them with that many but wasn't sure. I guess that pretty much takes up your day spending time with each and every one of them, you are so lucky that it all works out for you.
Well don't rush on my account, we are just curious to see all your birds, you certainly have your hands busy with all of them, your days must be filled with such song and chatter.
Oh I love Peace and Harmony and what suitable names for doves, how lovely are they!!
Thanks for sharing some more photos of your birds, but are there more we haven't seen yet, if so I want to see them all.
Well thats what we are here for and we love helping out. What you can do is compile a list of the foods you can't feed to them and post it on your fridge so you can refer to it when you need it. That list would be shorter than the one with foods they can eat.
And it will take a while for it to be more clear and understandable but now comes the hard part, you have to watch what you say so never say anything you wouldn't want repeated.
They are all ok to feed, just limit the raisins, they are essentially dried grapes and we don't like to feed too many grapes to them since they are mostly water and sugar.
The chick peas are great and the almonds are a good nut choice. We do have some threads in the bird food room that tell a lot of the things we can give to our greys and of course the ones we cannot. You can give him most anything you eat except for the ones on the forbidden list.
Hello Sam, so the big day is in about 2 weeks, that won't be long and I know you can hardly wait, I remember when I was in your shoes, so excited about the big day.
This should have been posted in that other thread, but don't worry about it, admin can move it if they see fit.
No I haven't tried the program from Bird Tricks but you can fill us in on how it works for you and Fletcher after he comes home, I would be curious to know if his methods work.
Look like you have everything set for Fletcher's homecoming, I hope it all goes well for him, just when is he expected to arrive?
I certainly understand that with all you have going on right now that another bird would be too much to handle and so when the time is right you will be able to realize your dream of having a grey.
Some people just don't get it that just because they are gray in color that they are not pretty birds for they are certainly very attractive in my opinion. With that red tail it is a very striking combination and I see my Josey as a very beautiful bird just as beautiful as my sun conure who is lots of bright colors but especially yellow.
As far as getting an accurate weight on him always do it the same time each day, say first thing in the morning before he has eaten and after he takes the first morning dump, do this every day for a week and what he averages out at is an accurate assessment.
He really should be checked out by an avian vet for a full workup to see if everything is ok and this will be a baseline to go by for future visits. Maybe another family member can help with the trip to the vet like getting him into the travel cage. Don't worry about your baby flying away from the vet, he will remain in the carrier until you are safely in the examining room and the door is closed, believe me avian vets know the dangers and take the necessary precautions.
The vet can clip the wings if you so desire it done but that is a decision you will have to make for yourself whether to clip or not. We do have some good threads here about clipping, read them before you make that decision.
Lisa, Ronda and Dan have given you some very good advice and I concur with the notion of putting them in the tub and turn out the lights, thats no way to do a timeout, I would think it would further stress them.
Then we have Terri who plays sort of rough and play bites with her grey and maybe you have a playful one also, but the body language will tell whether or not this is the case.
In any case keep us updated on what is happening and if any of the suggestions work for you and Brody.
Hello Gloria and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Gus.
Some of us are so envious of you having an snuggler, most greys do not enjoy cuddling especially after they move toward adulthood, mine included. It sounds like you have a wonderful relationship with him and I like that idea that he is a companion not a pet.
You have some wonderful photos on your profile of you and Gus, he is quite the handsome fella and you take very good pictures. You may also post a few in the threads if you like so more will see him.
You will enjoy reading thru the threads on various topics for lots of useful information and stories of other's lives with their greys, some of them are quite funny. Do ask questions if you have any and we will do our best to get you some answers and help you in any way we can.
Yes you can always count on us to help you in any way we can, we have a team of members who are some of the most caring individuals you will find anywhere, all you have to do is ask.
The grey in the picture you posted is older than 7 weeks and an estimate of 12 weeks is more accurate I believe.
Well they don't say good things come to those who wait for nothing and you certainly deserve it thats for sure. You have worked long and hard to gain her acceptance and I believe you have finally turned the corner on this.
Not saying you won't have a few setbacks but you are on the right road so keep up what you are doing for the rewards are worth it, you go girl!!! Karma your way again.
