  1. Hello Jerrysmom and welcome to the family, so glad you decided to join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and your grey. Your grey may welcome the addition of a new flock member but then maybe not, just because you had them both and he has been around a bird all his life does not mean he would welcome another bird to take the other's place. He may not care one way or the other, if you do get another bird get something that you have been wanting for you and not just for companionship for the grey. Take a few minutes and read thru some of the many threads for lots of useful information and do ask questions you may have. We will do our best to get you some answers and help you in any way we can. If you have some pictures of your grey you would like to share with us we would love to see him. BTW, what is his name?
  2. Hello Clancy and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Clancy. He probably got into a routine of doing those sounds every day that you went to see your Mom and now you don't do that so he will have to adjust to a new routine. You don't say how long ago this was, maybe he just needs more time to adjust to the new schedule. If he is more active now that could account for the absence of talking and making sounds, he had found another outlet for his energy perhaps. If he is otherwise healthy and happy I wouldn't worry about it too much. Take a little time and read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do not hesitate to ask questions you may have. We will do our best to get you some answers and help you in any way we can. If you have any pictures of Clancy you would like to share with us we would love to see him.
  3. Wow this is great Christoph, and he will be back to his old self real soon too from the looks of it, and I believe he will resume talking eventually, just hang in there, thanks for updating us on Jengo.
  4. That was great Siobhan, and Liath is a hoot, thanks for sharing that with us.
  5. Be careful of what you wish for, you just might get it, Lyric will talk soon enough and then you will be wishing he would shut up, no you won't, you will love it and enjoy it as much as I do when Josey talks.
  6. Yes they will and that will probably be what happens, he will copy what she does, just give him a little time and he will do just that.
  7. The main thing is if you get up in the night is not let her out of the cage just because you are up doesn't mean she has to be too, if you just ignore her she will find out that its no use and give up.
  8. Hooray Caroline, now Charlie will be able to fly like he did before and I know you are happy now too, thanks for letting us know his feathers are almost out.
  9. Take our advice DavE, you know us women know how some of you men fly off the handle and get yourselves in trouble, get someone else to take a few pics and handle this properly.
  10. Good job DavE, I knew you could do it if you just put your mind to it. B)
  11. You know what would make that even funnier, catch that on video and share it with us, we all can have a hoot over it but thanks for sharing that with us.
  12. Thanks Tracy for digging that thread out of the vault for Yvette, you are such a dear. B)
  13. Heather you can always use photoshop to make the binky pink, just a thought:laugh:  B)
  14. Yvette, that is a good description of how those darn knats look when disturbed, graphic but true.:woohoo:
  15. Ok Mary it is and I hope you do get it worked out, it can be frustrating to have to keep a constant watch on her but you will find that balance that works for you.
  16. Very good Mark and please let us know what you find out, hopefully Max will get a clean bill of health.

  18. Betty, my two parrots, a grey and a sun conure do not like each other either but one does not run for the other's cage when out, they just avoid one another. But occasionally I might have both on my shoulders, one on each and they are fine as long as I keep each one on her own side but sometimes the conure wants to go over and nip at the grey. Greys are known for not getting along with other kinds of parrots even other greys and your alexandrine is probably a little jealous of the grey and the attention it is getting. You should do things for the alexandrine first before the grey as it was there first and needs to know she is top bird. But if she continues to bother the grey then you will have to keep them separated as best you can to prevent one from hurting the other.
  19. Mark you need to ignore Max's attempts to let him up or out of his cage when you put him to bed, he does need a set routine and you just have to be firm and stick to it, he will learn in time that bedtime is time to quiet down and sleep, if you continue to laugh and such at his noises he will continue to do them for the attention he is getting. You have to handle him just like you would a small child.
  20. Dan is right, darn it:whistle: birds like other animals are very sensitive to things we do not notice so that probably explains what happened to Bently and no you are not crazy Yvette.
  21. Thanks Tracy for that link to getting rid of fruit flies, we can always count on you for jumping right in there and getting help for our members.
  22. I'm glad to hear they are taking their new home in stride, that is a good place for their cages to be where they can see anyone. They will continue to settle in and all will be well again in your new household, thanks for letting us know how things went and continue to update us as they settle in.
  23. Glad to hear it is going great for you and Tuca, boy you can just hear the enthusiasm in your post, you are having fun and you better keep in touch.
  24. This does my heart good to hear such a happy story of a rescue going well, I think Opie needed you and you stepped forward to take him in and give him a forever home and he will be so blessed for the rest of his life for what you have done for him. If all rescues could go this smoothly it would be so nice. Thanks for sharing a little more insight into how you ended up with Opie.
  25. She is going back to sleep after you go back to bed and just continue to ignore her and she will get to understand that when you get up in the dark it means stay in the cage and she can get up later when its time.
