  2. The breeder should have gotten her used to a cage before you brought her home, but that is water over the dam now. Talk to her some while she is in the cage to help her feel more at ease with it and do not take her out every time you go by or she will continue to do just that. But do give her some time out every day to be with you and play with her but in time she will get used to the cage, most greys find the cage their sanctuary where they feel most safe. I see this is your first post, why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us a little more about you and your new grey, like what is her name?

  4. I would not feed an exclusive extruded pellet mix, they need the variety of the veggies, fruits, nuts, seeds, legumes and some table foods we share with them. Even though it may say 100% nutrition for them it is not meant to be to the exclusion of everything else.
  5. OMG, that is so funny LMAO, I will have to teach my Josey to do that too, I can imagine what your husband said about that comment, wow:laugh:  I am sorry to hear you have to find a new home for Lulu, once they become a part of your heart it is all but impossible to part with them, but I certainly understand. And I would ask no less than for you to be as selective as possible to find her a loving and caring home that will be for the rest of her life.
  6. Hello Marty825 and welcome to the family, so glad you joined us and we look forward to hearing more about you. You seemed to have edited out some of your information but why don't you come back and give us some more info about you and whether you have any birds. Take a little time and read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do not hesitate to ask questions you may have. We will do our best to get you some answers and help you in any way we can.
  7. We do need a little more information before we can help you with this problem, but they shouldn't lose all the tail feathers at one time, my sun conure doesn't. Dave asked the right questions, now if you could give us the answers we can maybe zero in on the problem. BTW, while you are at it why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room.
  8. Thats ok, Greyparrot04, go to the home page and click on the forums tab at top of page, then click on welcome room, then click the red box at post new topic and tell us a little about you and your grey.
  9.
  10. I know, I just had to point that out, feel free to do the same for me if I give you the chance.
  11. Oh brother, I hope not Siobhan, but what a thought:whistle:
  12. Me too, now go back to that other thread and fix those, I want to see the funny ones {Feel-good-0002006E}

  14. Well if we had any doubt about LovemyGrey's being appointed moderator of the nursery we don't now, wow, another excellent thread for the baby room, this is an important subject and you have covered it well. Thanks Tracy:)
  15. Spence you are not going to have a naked bird, the neck feather start molting first and you will see the little downy ones first. They gradually lose their feathers so they will look fully feathered all the time except for the wings and tail. They will molt out at different times so the tail and wings will have enough feathers to maintain flight. It will be more important to bathe them regularly when molting, new pin feathers coming in kind of makes them itchy and the baths help them feel better, be sure to use the aloe vera juice afterwards to help soothe the skin.

    Pellets

Yes it is a good idea as they will snack on them throughout the day at least that is what Josey does.

    Baby Timneh

Thanks Lyric for sharing these pictures with us, it sure is interesting to see how quickly they develop and they are so adorable as babies.
  18. My Josey will hold her leg up too when she perches, that is normal and you say he is eating and drinking fine and that is good. He seems to be sleeping more but is he also fluffing himself up too when he sleeps and sits? If so he may need to be seen by an avian vet especially if it has been a while since he has been. Has anything changed in the household that would account for his changed behavior, most greys do not like any kind of change in their environment. I doubt his leg is hurt if you are talking about drawing it up when he perches, that is natural for them to do that, it rests that leg for a bit. I hope this helps but my gut instinct tells me you should make an appointment with an avian vet, they hide illness so well until they can't anymore and he is too precious to take a chance with. Let us know what you are going to do and keep us informed.
  19. I'm not into bikes either but it was a lovely day for a ride but the pics of Chloe are precious, thanks so much Spence for sharing them with us.
  20. Some greys are a little nervous and scared when you first bring them home but not all and you have one of the easy ones. I am so glad to hear Simon has taken the homecoming in stride and I hope it continues to go smoothly for both of you. Enjoy the snuggles now for a lot of them sort of grow out of that as they get a little older. They usually grind their beak when they are content and usually at night before going to sleep. Keep us informed as to Simon's continued progress.
  21. You should not allow her to eat out of your mouth, our mouths have bacteria that could make her very sick or could kill her.
  22. Yes her daughter has a medical problem and she does come first before the forum but I know she will be fine and we will do our best here in your absence. No one here will miss you more than me and I have you both in my thoughts and prayers for her quick recovery and your return to the forum.
  23. Awwww Dave they are so cute and adorable there in that picture all together like that, such a sweet story of how one friend helps out another and the hen took care of it as if it were her own. Thanks Dave for sharing that with us.
  24. I just bet Harley is sweet as can be, most of the babies are but congrats on bringing her home, now you will be starting a new lifetime relationship. I look forward to seeing some pictures of Harley when you can manage it.
  25. Yes you cook up the oatmeal, I offer Josey that too with a little veggie baby food mixed in. Keep offering him the veggies fixed in all kinds of ways, he may not eat them at first but he will eventually get to eating some of them. Maybe he doesn't like the Zupreem, why not try some other brands of pellets until you find one he likes, some will eat a particular kind and avoid any others. Do offer him some of what you have on your plate for dinner, just skim thru the threads for those things to avoid but most veggies, potatoes, any kind of pasta and rices and a little meat is fine to give to him. Tracy provided several links to threads that will provide a good base of information for what to feed Cooper and she knows greys for she has 4 of them.
