my congo african grey parrot has some bad breath
judygram replied to steph's topic in The GREY Lounge
I do that too Terri, I love bird smell and Josey smells slightly different from Sunny.:cheer: :whistle: -
What a wonderful idea M2MM and that would help make Mr Magoo feel like he is not in a room all to himself with a door closed, he needs more interaction.
-
:lol: Not that you could get it away from them if you wanted to, when they grab something they know you don't want them to have good luck in taking it away.:ohmy:

Hello M2MM and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and your birds. What a wonderful introduction and you have 3 very good looking birds, I just love the color of Skyler, a very sweet bird for the looks of the pic. You seem very devoted to your birds and they are so lucky to have someone who takes excellent care of them and loves them unconditionally. That is so sweet that your hubby reads them to sleep every night, now thats undying devotion. Please read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do not hesitate to ask any and all questions you may have and we will do our best to find you some answers and help you in any way we can.

I live in the country in a rural setting and you better believe there are hawks around, at least here in VA and I have seen them in the trees close to the house. I won't be taking Josey out without her being in a cage or on a harness and no free flying of any sort.:ohmy:
-
I would say she has broken a blood feather, just keep an eye on it like Dr. Dan said and give the vet a call if it starts bleeding again. Keep us informed;)
-
Just leave the door open and his curiosity will get the better of him and he will come out, try playing with some of his toys and having a good time with them to entice him out. Some birds just like dunking their food in the water and some make soup for you, enjoy:laugh:

OMG Dan, Berna isn't that old, not everyone here on this forum is old like you and me............jeez:ohmy:
-
I was PMSL over that one:laugh: :woohoo: :laugh: {Feel-good-0002006E}

I doubt he will ever start enjoying it but if he can just tolerate it then you will have less of a problem with it, Dave has given you some excellent advice as always.

Thanks for sharing that pic with us Donna, sure is a lot of change since that other pic, he's a good looking grey. B)

This woman is gonna be busy with Woody but she still finds time to check in, I can't wait to hear some of the stories she is going to tell.:lol: :whistle:

Looks like you have had an easy time of it with these two new parrots to your household but be forewarned that once they settle in some you might see some different behavior. They are in new surroundings right now and I am sure they carry some baggage with them. Ricco knew he needed a bath and I just bet he was very happy to finally be clean, the poor thing and how long he had to suffer that way is hard to imagine. They do not know how lucky they have it yet but they will so be patient and in time they will realize they arein heaven on earth. I'm sure your dog will get over his out of sorts mood, he has to just get used to the new members of thhe family. Thanks for updating us and please continue to keep us informed of the progress with them.

I'm already crazy so you don't have to worry there, but you can ask any question no matter how trivial or silly it sounds, we have heard them all before. Please let us know what you find out from the vet on Friday, hope he gets a clean bill of health.

I have a bowl just for the pellets and I fill it half full of Harrison's high potency every few days, Josey has it in her cage all the time for snacking, that way she can eat them any time she wants.

Sorry Berna but it doesn't work that way!!! {Feel-good-0002006E}

Hello Kebbie and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Floyd. Floyd sounds like he has had a rough life, poor thing, being stuck in the utility room with mostly sunflower seeds to eat and no interaction with anyone, no wonder he is plucking. I hope you do get to keep him permanently, he deserves a better life than what he was leading and you sound like you want to provide that for him. Realize this will take a lot of time and patience on your part but he will eventually come around to eating better and maybe even cease the plucking but time will tell. You might need to take him in to see an avian vet to get a clean bill of health, just to make sure there are no physical reasons for the feather plucking. You have already started on our many threads, keep on reading them for lots of useful information and do not hesitate to ask questions you may have and we will do our best to find some answers and help you in any way we can. I look forward to seeing a pic of Floyd when you get a chance.

Hello Donna and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Mickey. I assume that is him as a newly hatched chick in your avatar, such a cute little thing and so precious. Are you still handfeeding him since he is just 13 weeks old? Is this your first grey or first parrot? Since you have cats you need to be careful of having Mickey out with them around, make sure you closely supervise so nothing happens to your baby. Take some time and read thru many of the threads for lots of useful information and if you have any questions just ask and we will try and find some answers for you and help you in any way we can. I have included a link that should help you with posting photos in a thread, hope it helps. http://www.greyforums.net/faqs/page_2.html<br><br>Post edited by: judygram, at: 2008/06/25 17:49

Hello Jennifer and welcome to the family, so glad you decided to join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Mischief. I love that name and I just wonder why you named her that,:lol: hmmm that name about says it all.:whistle: You have quite the varied little flock of birds and you are certainly not new to greys since your dad has had a grey for the last 20 years so you know what awesome creatures they are. Browse thru the many threads for lots of useful information and if you have any questions do not hesitate to ask us anything and everything, no question is trivial or silly. We have about heard them all and will get an answer for you as soon as we can and help you in any way we can. If you have any pictures of your other birds you would like to share with us, we have an other birds room where you can put them as we would love to see them too. Thanks for sharing a pic of Mischief, she is a good looking Tag.

when do congo african grey parrots start talking
judygram replied to steph's topic in The GREY Lounge
That bird in that video was exhibiting sexual behavior, that whining and going back and forth with the wings held out and down from the body, that bird is sexually frustrated and if your bird is doing that you should ignore it and try to distract him to something else, but at 11 months of age I doubt he is doing that. -

Then he has plenty of time yet and the fact that he has said hello means he will be saying more words soon, just be patient and it will come.
