  2. Rae, I am sorry to hear that Angie is back to plucking herself again, do you think it has anything to do with your health failing again? You know how sensitive they can be to our feelings, she may be reacting to your failing health. Rae I am also sorry to hear your health is turning for the worse, I know a little about what is troubling you but wish things could be better especially since you have those lovely girls who love their momma. But you know that you are in my thoughts and prayers and do keep checking in from time to time as we do care about you.
  3. DAN!!! shame on you but I can't help laughing:laugh: {Feel-good-0002006E}

  7. Hello Nims and welcome to the family, so glad you decided to join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Indy. Is that name taken from the Indiana Jones movies? A very cute name regardless. So Indy has an attitude, don't they all! We have some members here who have greys that are quite the characters, be sure to browse thru for lots of stories of their antics. Please read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do not hesitate to ask questions you may have and we will do our best to find you some answers and help you in any way we can. I look forward to see some pictures of Indy when you get the chance.
  8. Must be somewhere around 4 to 5 weeks according to this thread, take a look: http://www.greyforums.net/forums/the-nursery/72900-the-journey-from-an-egg-in-pictures.html
  9. I am afraid ignoring it is about all you can do for if you react to it then she will continue to do it more, maybe in time she will do it less and less.
  10. Thanks for the 4th of July wishes from our friends in other countries, this is a very big deal here with celebrations of cookouts and fireworks galore. I hope each and every one in greyforums has a safe and happy holiday or just another Friday depending on where you live. {Holidays-0002010C}{Holidays-0002010F}
  11. Hello Loosma and welcome to the family, so glad you have decided to join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Isis. Well you are gonna love it here, we are all a bunch of grey lovers who are obsessed with the health and welfare of our birds and we love sharing our knowledge and ideas with other bird lovers. Have you had Isis for all of those 7-8 years and is this the first grey you have ever had? They really are awesome creatures and once you have one you cannot imagine life without them. Please read thru a lot of the many threads for loads of useful information and do not hesitate to ask questions you may have for we will do our best to find some answers and help you in any way we can. If you have some pictures of Isis you would like to share with us we would love to see her. We don't have a health room at the moment but you can post your question in the african grey room for the time being.
  12. I'm sorry it didn't work out for you and Floyd but yes he will remember his former owner. M2MM gave you some good suggestions for other types of parrots that might be more suitable for you, good luck to you.
  13. Josey will only take the food bowl out of its holder from the one in her playstand, she never bothers the ones inside her cage, maybe she likes the contents of them better.
  14. This is wonderful news and the baby's name is Scar, it could have easily been Lucky for he was lucky to have landed in your hands, you took good care of him and he might not have been so "lucky" if he had went to a different home. Please keep us updated on his progress.
  15. Hello Marly and welcome to the family, so glad you decided to join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Marly. We've heard this story so many times of people expecting a baby and believe they have to get rid of their parrot but with some careful planning you can have both at the same time. Most of us here would never even consider such a thing, our greys mean as much to us as our children, in fact they are our children and we could no more give them up as our human children. Obviously they never considered Marly a part of their family but their loss is your gain. I hope he has found a forever home with you and he sounds like a sweet bird but he does require some time and attention. Please read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do not hesitate to ask any questions you may have and we will do our best to find you some answers and help you in any way we can. If you have some pictures of Marly you would like to share with us we would love to see him.
  16. Congrats Susan, you are officially a grandma now and welcome to the club, you get to have the best of the babies and then hand them back to their momma, you betcha you are proud and you should be:) {Characters-000200D2}
  17. That was a cute video of your baby Cag, thanks for sharing it with us Jim:P :laugh:
  18. Hello Mark and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and this grey. Please don't give up on this grey just yet, give her some time to settle in, it takes a lot of time for a rehomed grey to adjust to a new environment and new people. She may come to even like having you around even though she may prefer your wife. Be sure to read thru as many of the threads as possible for lots of useful information and do ask questions if you have any and we will do our best to find some answers for you and we will help you in any way we can. Ifyou have any pictures of Rikki you would like to share with us we would love to see her.
  19. Not if Penny comes into the picture, obviously she is very interested, you go girl;) B)
  20. I am not going to slam you for your opinion, although some might, but when it comes right down to it, if it comes to either one or the other has to go then of course we are going to choose a human child over a pet any day. But I wouldn't do that until every option had been exhausted. Everyone has to make this decision for themselves if it comes to that.
  21. Karasue, why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us a little more about you and this new to you grey.
  22. Jane and Tracy have provided some very good information, Zazu sees his cage as his territory, his safe haven and doesn not want to venture far from it but give him some more time and he will be less reluctant to come out and share time with his flock. Make that time he is out fun and let him see you having fun with a few of his toys maybe on the floor to entice him to come and join you, he will eventually for his curiosity will get the better of him.
  23. Hello Lauri and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and this rescued Cag, btw, what is his name? You have done a fine thing in adopting this Cag in need of a good home and yes he probably does have some issues but like you said with lots of time and patience you will work thru them for the rewards will be immense. Please be sure to read as many of the threads as you can for lots of useful information and do not hesitate to ask questions if you have any and we will do our best to find you some answers and help you in any way we can. If you have some pictures of your grey you would like to share with us we would love to see him and we have an other birds room where you can share some of your other birds if you like, please share one of the B&G macaw, we love the biggies too.
  24. You will Jen with time and lots of patience, remember small steps but you are doing great, keep up the good work.

    Scared

    Hi Lauri, how old is this Cag? That seems to be a trait of greys to be scared of everything but some more so than others. A baby grey usually is not as afraid of new things as much as an older bird is and that is why I ask his age. If he is an older bird then he has maybe suffered some mistreatment and no wonder he is scared. Don't make sudden movements around him, those tend to freak them out, talk softly to him but this is going to be a long road to gaining his trust so be very patient and yes it will take a lot of time but will be worth it. While you are at it, why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us a little more about you and this Cag, name maybe?
