I always thought that uncooked rice would be bad for our birds, I thought that was the reason behind not using rice to throw at weddings anymore, we use birdseed, because the rice expands in their crops and can kill them. Josey loves popped corn, I don't know how much of it she really eats but she wants it every time I have any so I indulge her, Sunny too.

Couple Of Grey Questions From Potential Owner
judygram replied to RobertsKitty's topic in The GREY Lounge
"""I'm glad your doing your homework before getting a Grey!""" Believe me Amberly, Kitty has done her homework, she is a very thorough researcher, she even has a book about greys she has wrote with the info she has gleaned from this site, she is going to be one good grey parront. Kitty, I love that tree you made, it has a lot of things to keep a bird busy, but for a grey it would have to be of sturdier branches, looks great!! -
Kitty, meet Kittykittykitty, I just had to do that!!! So glad to hear from you again Kitty, we have missed you but know that you have been busy but thats life. I love your new bird, Griffin and you are doing an excellent job with socializing him, maybe you can give us some pointers on doing this, we certainly gave you lots of info, btw, got that book finished yet?B)

I too lack experience with eclectus parrots but we do have some members here who do and I am sure some of them will chime in with some ideas and suggestions for you. You do have quite the flock and you have done wonders with a bird that most of us would not be able to handle so that speaks volumes of your love for your parrots. If you like please introduce yourself in the welcome room, you have already given us a lot of info about you but maybe some more about the Tag, Phenix.

Envie, this is my favorite grey book, "For the Love of Greys" by Bobbi Brinker and it covers everything on greys.

Hello Mel and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and this new Cag. Have you given him/her a name yet? Have you done a DNA test to determine the sex? So you gave in huh, well marriage is a give and take relationship with some of us giving more and taking more but glad he could realize his dream of owning a grey, he won't be disappointed I'm sure and you may come to love it as much as he does. You certainly came to the right place for tips on all aspects of grey ownership, we have tons of threads on various topics, just read thru as many as you possibly can for lots of useful and helpful information. Please do ask any and all questions you may have and we will do our best to get you some answers and help you in any way we can. If you have some pictures of your baby you would like to share with us we would love to see it, we love drooling over the babies, we adore them.

Yes they do grow fast so be sure to capture all kinds of pics, you will want them later to compare the likeness to his relatives and maybe other siblings in the future.

Those are some great shots of fireworks and I finally saw some good ones Saturday night, was rained out for the 4th, but I took no pictures, just enjoyed them with the grandgirls. Yes Siobhan, you need to get out more, they are awesome to watch.B)

OMG, he may have found a home for his grey, when one door closes sometimes another one opens:P
-
They naturally do a little shaking of the breast feathers anyways from time to time so that is not a clue that he is cold from being wet. Josey does not preen either until she has dried off some, I guess they would rather preen dry feathers opposed to wet. She doesn't like showers either but she gets them and never holds a grudge either:whistle: knock on wood;)

I'm with Dave on this one;)

Congrats on your new Tag Bobot and he is a cutie pie, I know you are going to enjoy your new friend and thanks for sharing some pics with us.

Yes I firmly believe they can feel our emotions and she knows you so well now she senses you need a little comfort and she is providing that for you. I just love hearing the stories of her antics, she really is quite the character isn't she and she knows how to put a smile on your face. My that sounds serious about your dog getting bit by a snake, I hope he pulls ok, please keep us informed.
-
Yes it is FairY, very exciting and busy times even for Susan who is the new grandma for the first time, I have 3 grandkids and I remember the first one just like it was yesterday, there is nothing like it in the world. Susan will be busy helping with the new grandson but she will pop on now and then to give us updates and I can't wait to see pictures!
-
The rain cancelled out the fireworks here last night so no worries but we are going to get another chance tonight so hopefully we will see some then. Josey will be left at home so no chance she will be frightened by them.

How much wood could a woodchuck chuck....
judygram replied to TalonSis's topic in Photography & Video Room
Thanks for sharing those with us, Melissa, and that groundhog would only last for 2 seconds in my yard for my hubby would blast him with a shotgun.  -
It's to be expected that Jaco is really attached to you as you live alone but I don't think you need to rehome him. You will just have to be more resourceful since you work nights and have to sleep during the day. He just wants to be close to you since you are the only person around but there is no harm in that, its so sweet that he wants to be around you all the time. I think you need to make the most of the time you do have to spend with him, the one on one time playing with him and actually handling him. I get the feeling you really love this bird so how could you give him up, maybe some of the other members will have better ideas than I could come up with.
