    Falling

Mary I hope you do get a clean bill of health on Echo this Saturday and then he can enjoy more out of cage time, be sure to keep us informed.
  4. Crystine, a lot of greys prefer the water to be cool or even cold versus warm for baths somaybe your grey is the same way.
  5. Its been getting 90 to 95 here during the day and that sun is very hot, too hot for me much less my birds:S {Feel-bad-000200A3}
  6. Yep she sounds like a smart cookie to me, congrats on finally getting her to say those words but with her version of it, that will teach you to say it that many times, thanks for the laugh Siobhan on a Monday:lol:
  7. I agree with the others, take her back to the vet for that x-ray so you can find out what is really going on with her, keep us informed.
  8. You could try making a little oatmeal in the microwave and adding the meds to it and feed by spoon. I give mjy grey some every morning and she loves it, if I ever have to give her meds thats the way I will give it too her. I wouldn't worry right now about the bonding with you, you have plenty of time to gain that later, might take longer since you had to start off on the wrong foot so to speak but it will happen, just remember it takes time and much patience.
  9. Check out the posting photos article in the FAQ section, I have provided a link to it: http://www.greyforums.net/faqs/page_2.html

    Falling

I don't know whether severly clipped wings makes them fall more but when she does lose her balance and fall she is falling like a rock. I agree she should not have been clipped so short, it should have been just enough to prevent lift. She needs enough of the flight feathers to allow her to glide down rather than just fall like a rock which could damage her keel bone. I would put her highest perches lower in the cage and lay down a soft towel in te bottom and cover it with some newspaper to keep it from catching so much poop until she gets more proficient at climbing and not falling. I would speak to the people at the shop where she was clipped and tell them how unhappy you are, they should not assume you would want your bird clipped so severly or at all.
  11. Congo is female, I just know it:whistle:

  14. Its not your fault Susan, some birds are going to be pluckers no matter what we do so don't blame yourself, just get the vet visit and we will gofrom there.
  15. Yeah I can see where he is pulling the feathers out, he must be doing it with his talons, usually a bird will be able to pluck everywhere but the head. I agree with Tracy, he needs to be seen by an avian vet to rule out any physical reasons, then we will go from there.
  16. Thanks Kitty for the reason why raw potatoes are unsafe for our birds, karma coming your way.
  17. It must have been someone who knew you would take it in and care for it but that is about the only good thing I could say for whoever it was.
  18. Its my understanding that potatoes should only be offered cooked, never raw but I don't remember why but other fruits and veggies yes the skins are fine to feed. There is a complete list of veggies and fruits you can offer to your grey, it is in the bird food room.
  19. I'm gonna huff, I'm gonna puff and I'm gonna blow you off my rope thingy, that is so cute, just like a couple of siblings, thanks Pat for sharing that with us.
  20. I hope she is going to be ok but it sounds like something to do with her crop, please update us on her condition for we are concerned about her.
  21. I loved them all and that is a fever we all would be lucky to catch, thanks for sharing them with us.
  22. I agree, a vet visit is imperative, something is not right.
  23. I like Siobhan's idea too, as long as you can have someone come in and feed and water and provide a little company for a while that is the best solution.
  24. I usually use a premium seed mix from www.drsfostersmith.com and I also take the peanuts out.
  25. I'd say it's a hit for sure:laugh:
