Hello Cocom and welcome to the family, so glad you decided to join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Coco. They do pick up new words and phrases pretty quickly and sometimes its things we would rather they not copy but they do the choosing and that means we hear our coughs, sneezes and other embarrasing sounds:blush: but hey thats life. I would say most greys do not talk around other people and some will not talk in the presence of any people but you have one that is not shy. My Josey does talk when I am around and sometimes to me but not to other people who she rarely sees. Please read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do ask any and all questions you may have and we will do our best to get you some answers and help you in any way we can. If you have some pictures of Coco you would like to share with us we would love to see him.

Hello Goku and welcome to the family, so glad you landed on our site and we look forward to hearing more about you and Archie. You certainly came to the right place for sharing wonderful grey experiences, we have lots of members with tales to tell and some of them will make you laugh your head off. Greys are amazing creatures and some of them are quite the characters as you will soon see. We have lots of information here in our many threads so browse thru them and if you have any questions just ask, we welcome them and will do our best to answer them and help you in any way we can. If you have some pictures of Archie you would like to share with us we would love to see him.

Aw Susan, throw the poor girl a bone, Josey loves to chow down on one:whistle:
-
Chrstna I am puzzled by this also and you should seek a vet's advice as soon as possible and please let us know what you find out as I want to know what that is and I hope he is going to be fine.

Good for her Terri, those conures sure can be sneaky but Bella needs to get her two cents worth in and show Jiggy who is the real boss, heh heh heh:lol:
-
Thanks Terri for another segment of Jiggy, the grey stalker, you are a wonderful storyteller and this just made my day, keep up the good work, same time same station. :cheer:

Hello Flutterby and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and George. Yes you may have the oldest grey in the whole greyforum, wow 37 years is impressive and I imagine he could tell us some stories if he only would, with at least 5 owners I think he has seen a lot in his life. So glad to hear this will be his final home, he does need the stability of a permanent home and it may take some time for him to finally realize that this home is it, no more going to another owner. George may never come to accept your man like he has accepted you but there is no reason to believe he cannot have at least a tolerating relationship with him. A lot of greys do prefer one person over another, my Josey is bonded to me but she is gradually becoming more accepting of my hubby. Please read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do not hesitate to ask questions you may have and we will do our best to find you some answers and help you in any way we can. If you have some pictures of George you would like to share with us we would love to see him.

Hello susan and welcome to the family, so glad you have decided to join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Bommer. You did very well in allowing the grey to pick you as that is the best way but it does not always work out that way as mine was picked out for me but I am not complaining. You came to the right place if you are looking for advice from other well experienced grey owners, we have members who have more than one grey and some that have had greys for a long time and they have a vast knowledge of them and love to share what they know. I will give you my two cents worth as my grey is just 2 years old so I am a fairly new owner myself. Browse thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do not hesitate to ask any and all questions you may have and we will do our best to find you some answers and help you in any way we can. If you have any pictures of Bommer you would like to share with us we would love to see him. BTW, Tracy, aka LovemyGreys is the known authority on hand feeding greys, she is moderator of the nursery room, just ask her anything and she will be more than happy to give you her advice.

I was referring to the plastic and acrylic types of baby toys, I wouldn't give them anything stuffed.
-
You can bake them too Roger, that is how I cook them for Josey because that is how I cook them period and then I just give her a small section of it, she loves sweet potato:kiss:
-
Ice cream, now I know I have to come during the festival if I ever come to Ireland, thats all you have to say is ice cream and I'm there.
-
Yes he will but the wing feathers will not molt out all together, they do in several stages but eventually they all will be replaced and then flight will be possible. Curiousity is getting the better of Gizmo, he wants to venture out and explore.

Awww Loki is a cutie, they are so precious looking at that age, absolutely adorable, thanks for sharing that with us Bryan and nice cage too, you are all ready, now is the hard part, the waiting for him to come home. -
I just loved this little picture story Terri, you certainly do have a pair of characters, a grey stalker and the grey with a foot fetish, never a dull moment in Terri's house, thats for sure. Thanks so much for this as it brought a laugh to this old woman's face today. Wonder what tomorrow will bring, I can't wait:whistle:

You can look for foraging type toys that you can hide a treat or nut in for him to find, you can buy different ones or make some yourself out of things you find around the house. You can also browse thru the baby departments for lots of toys for greys, a lot of them are suitable for playing with. We also have some threads that deal with toys for greys, just do a search to find them, there are a lot of ideas in them for sure.

Medic3709 wrote: I hear ya:lol: If you are making one out of pvc pipe you can use regular elmer's glue to keep the pieces together, once it dries it is non-toxic. Whatever you build please share a pic of it when you are done, we want to see it and maybe make one of our own.

My you have had a rough year with Lilo, busting open the keel is serious stuff but glad to hear he is doing just fine, thanks for the update.
-
Thanks Melissa for sharing the pictures of Ceasar, he is a handsome Cag and and your cousin can come and visit with him any time she wants so it's not like she is really loosing him just not with her on a daily basis, thats wonderful that you could do that for her.

That last one is my favorite too Heather, very good shot, thanks for sharing them with us.

Congrats Archna on getting your dream bird, wow a hyacinth macaw, now that is an awesome bird, very pretty with that bright blue color. You will have to share some pictures of him when you can get some, we would love to see him as a baby.

Hello Carrie and welcome to the family, so glad you have decided to join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Herby. I've read about some of your health problems in another thread and I hope with all the members here someone can provide a solution for your problem. I can tell that you really love this little guy and he is a part of your family now, greys have a tendency to do that to people. You might find some solutions in the many threads we have here so go thru as many as you can for lots of useful information and do ask questions you may have and we will do our best to find you some answers and help you in any way we can. If you have some pictures of Herby you would like to share with us we would love to see him.

Thanks Siobhan for the information on the legend, looks like it is lots of fun, if I ever come to Ireland for a visit I will have to keep this festival in mind so I can plan on coming during it to enjoy it fully.

He really needs those baths as they usually gets lots of showers when in the wild and it would help with the dust problem. My grey does not like baths either but she gets a shower twice a week, I take her into the shower stall and use a handheld shower head on her to soak her completely, she tolerates it but does not like it. Another suggestion is putting enough water in the bathtub until it would come up to the chest area on the grey and get them wet in that. A lot of us use that aloe vera juice afterwards as it softens the feathers and it is soothing to their skin.

Hello Bryan and Kim and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Loki. I like that name Loki and like you say it doesn't matter what sex he is, if he should eventually lay an egg the name suits either sex. Well you have a kid now whether or not you know it, a perpetual kid for the rest of his life, at least this kid won't grow up and leave home but then he will never provide you with grandchildren either. Take some time and read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do not hesitate to ask any and all questions you may have and we will do our best to find some answers and help you in any way we can. When you get the chance to get some pictures of your baby Loki would you share some with us as we love to admire the babies, they are so adorable.
