Tiffany, I don't know about the yellow crested but I have a sun conure and she loves nothing better than to spend all of her out of cage time on my shoulder. She will ride there while I move around the house but she also wants to get into anything I am doing. She is a clown too in some of the antics she does but she is so sweet and can be cuddly most of the time. She can be downright feisty too if she gets a hold of something and you try to take it away from her but all in all she is a good little bird to have.
-
Thats great Tiffany that you want to give this little conure a home and it will be a good one too, be sure to share a pic with us after you get it home.
-
Happy Hatchday Chloe and I just bet Mommy was very good to you.
-
I can do that with Sunny, my sun conure but Josey is a no-go, still jealous as all get out.
-
Yes he is a cutie and you better keep your eye on those lace curtains:laugh: thanks for sharing those pics with us.
-
Glad to hear that Ice has come thru with flying colors, he is one lucky grey, in fact you are both lucky to have found each other.
-
I don't file Josey's nails as she keeps hers in good shape with the rough perches but still they can easily scratch the skin so of course I bear the marks mainly on my shoulders but I have accepted it as part of life with a grey.

New baby bird coming my way - eventually
judygram replied to bebomo's topic in Welcome & Introduction Room
Hello Bebomo and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and this new grey you are getting. I know you are very excited about your visit with a baby grey tonight and maybe you will get to actually see it but maybe not if it is still with the parents, breeder birds do not like prying eyes. You have had many different kind of birds but do you have any others at the moment? Sorry about your quaker but you will not be making that mistake again. You will find lots of useful information in our many threads so read thru them at your leisure and do not hesitate to ask any and all questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. -

My you have quite a flock of birds don't you, I am sure they keep you busy but I doubt that you would trade a minute of it and I bet you have some stories you could tell us too if you would like to share them with us. You will find lots of useful information in our many threads and do not hesitate to ask any and all questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. I see you shared a link to a site where we may see your birds but if you want to post some pics directly in your post please do as we would love to see them.

Behaviour of Grey's after a near death experience
judygram replied to danmcq's topic in The GREY Lounge
Not that I wished this would have happened but it has a silver lining in that now Dayo is on alert and no longer will be very close to the dogs now and probably for a very long time to come, as Dan has said he was getting too desensitised to their presence. This is a lesson we all can learn from. -

Looking for a good breeder in MI
judygram replied to zookeeper's topic in Welcome & Introduction Room
Hello Jessica and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and this new grey you want to add to your flock. I am from Virginia but we do have a few members from Michigan but I will give you a website that you can look for breeders by state: www.avianbiotech.com You will find lots of useful information in our many threads and do ask any and all questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. We have an other birds room where you may share some pictures of your senegals if you like. -
Thats BS MasterMark, my Josey started out whistling and she talks now and whistles too. Poppy being just 5 months is too young yet to be talking much, give him some time as Josey didn't talk until she was one year of age. Why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us something more about you and Poppy.

Oh they are smart, thats for sure and Will seems to be well socialized since he gets along with both men and women, you did a good job with that. Does he get many of the words right in the crossword puzzle? I bet he gets them all right!!

Thanks Chris for the jokes. {Feel-good-0002006E}

Lauren, I put it in my grey's morning oatmeal, I cook a small amount of oatmeal in the microwave then add a spoonful or two of some baby food vegetables such as carrots, squash or sweet potatoes then I add about 1/4 teaspoon of red palm oil and mix thoroughly. She gobbles it up greedily and my sun conure eats a little of it too, I administer it with a small spoon, she rakes it off with her beak. You can order it from www.swansonsvitamins.com as that is about the cheapest online place to find it and it keeps for a long time since you use such a small amount at a time. You can also cook with it but it does have a strong flavor than regular cooking oil and of course it has a reddish color, may not be appetizing depending on what you use it for.

Housebreaking my dog for his 2nd time

Erin, is the carpet brand new or were there other tenants there before you and did they have any pets? -
Thats what I wish Josey would do but she won't:( Thanks for sharing that with us. :cheer:

Sorry, Ijust checked your profile and see that his name is Will and he is 8 years old, should have looked before I posted but that still leaves how long have you had him?

Hello Small and welcome to the family, so glad you have decided to join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and your grey. What is your grey's name and how old is he? How long have you had him? Do you have other birds, parrots or other pets? Just asking a few questions so we may get to know you better. My grey, Josey is 2 1/2 years old so she is relatively young, practically a baby still but I am interested in the same things you are as she matures into an adult grey, gotta prepare ourselves for the future. You will find lots of useful information in our many threads so read thru them at your leisure and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. I see you have a picture of him in your avatar but if you have some more you would like to share with us we would love to see them.

I think its great that you don't clip JimBob's wings, they were meant to fly, thats why they have the wings in the first place and as long as you take the necessary precautions to keep him from escaping then I think he is a happier bird for it. It is a matter of personal choice and some here do clip but they have their reasons, this subject has been hotly debated in the past but you do what you think is right for you and your bird.
-
Dan is exactly right and asking if they could be put in your living room says that you do not know much about breeding greys. You need to do a lot of research before you try to jump in with both feet and try breeding greys. One member you could ask is Dave007 but he will tell you the same thing Dan did only he will be a little more blunt with his advice.
-
I use those rope perches and the rope boings, both my birds use them all the time and Josey, my grey, sleeps on hers every night and they are comfortable on their feet. You have to inspect them from time to time to check for frayed threads and ends but otherwise I have had no problems with them.
