  1. Aww Chris, the end of the month will be here before you know it, just be patient, all good things take time.
  2. I know you can't wait to get your hands on him and the end of February will seem to take forever to get here, keep us updated with pics so we can see the growth and changes as they change so rapidly.
  3. I would have to say that yarn would not be good for greys as it tends to fray a lot and they could get tangled in it, better to use sisal or jute rope of a smaller diameter.
  4. I doubt he actually ate any of it, he probably chewed it to bits and pieces that are so fine you don't notice them but just a dusting in the bottom of the cage. I know what it is to be a worry wart, I do it too, I think all good mothers are so you have good company.
  5. That is a nice cage for Tango, he should love it, thanks for sharing a picture of it with us.
  6. I'm so glad to hear there is improvement and I do hope it keeps up, you are doing a good job with Leo, keep it up and soon he will be 100% better.
  7. I can relate to that conure, my sun conure can be bossy too and she can be a feisty little thing sometimes too but I love her to pieces. That "tree top ham" is a good looking grey, thanks for sharing them with us.
  8. Kimberly, I am sure if it was meant to be you will find another quaker to add to your flock, just keep your eyes open and you know I am rooting for you.
  9. Thanks Pynk for checking that lead out and too bad it wasn't her baby but that is good news for you but do exhaust all avenues before you claim him as yours for now you are finding out how precious they really are.
  10. What a cute little baby grey and so adorable, thanks for sharing him with us.
  11. Now that you mention it, yes it is after January 3, so who did win???
  12. You can go thru the baby department in stores and pick up some toys that are suitable for greys like the baby rattles that Berna mentioned and they are cheaper than made for bird toys.
  13. Hello Craig and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Jackson. He is a handsome fella from the pics you shared, thanks for sharing them right off the bat as we usually have to ask for photos. He has chosen you as his favorite and that is normal for greys, he will allow you to do most anything with him but he is not as accepting of her but she can just be patient with him, he may eventually allow her more contact but she should not be insulted if he doesn't allow her to touch him much, she can still interact with him on a different level. You will find lots of useful information in our many threads so read thru them at your leisure and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can.
  14. Hello Kook and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and this new grey of yours, btw what is his name? When you get thru reading all the threads here then you will know a lot more than you do now so take some time and read, read and read and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. That is so sad that he wasn't treated well but that is all different now and I hope he has found a forever home and he gets the love and attention he needs and deserves. Please share a pic of him with us if you have any, we would love to see him.
  15. He's beautiful, a very handsome looking fella and no I doubt this was his first camera session, thanks for sharing the pic with us.
  16. Thanks Penny for checking into this for us, I knew that the bulbs contain small amounts of mercury and you were not to dispose of them in with your regular trash. I have only recently started using a couple of these bulbs and am now concerned about continuing to use them. Please let us know anything more you find out about these bulbs.

    Weaning

Thats well and good that Harry has a varied diet but it should not include cake with icing and tea with sugar. Those sweets are not fed for a reason and he is getting a double whammy with the tea and sugar, neither is allowed since the tea has caffeine in it. A little tad occasionally is ok but never let it be a big part of what he eats or he will suffer for it and you may suffer along with it if it makes him hyper like it does our kids. I think he just likes warm food and nothing wrong with that and the fact that you feed him with a spoon is ok too as it might come in handy one day when you might have to give him some meds with a spoon.
  18. Thank God the nightmare is over Dan and no one is more happy about that than Kim, you owe her man, big time, yippppppppppppppppppppppeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  19. That is so sad Ivy and you can't help but cry when you read it but thanks for sharing it with us, maybe it will help prevent another birdie from the same fate.
  20. Been there and done that, I have typed up instructions on feeding and taking care of my birds before and it does make you feel more relaxed when on vacation because it is there on paper for them to follow so no forgetting that you said "What?" Have a good cruise, now when do you leave and can I stow away in your luggage and go with you?
  21. I would say the chances they would mate are slim to none if they haven't already by now. Greys are notorious for not getting along with even others of their own kind and they definitely need their own cages but then sometimes two or more will get along, its just the chance you take when you get another one. I would say it would not affect your Tag's talking ability, if he is making sounds and starting to say words then that will continue but maybe after a period of adjustment of adding a new member to the flock. I know this is a tough decision but it is one only you man make so think it thru thoroughly before you committ to it.

    treats

I have never heard of them either but they could be good stuff. Tiffany, that picture would be better if you could downsize it some, it is too big to view properly.
  24. Hello Pynk and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and this grey. That is an amazing story of how you came by this grey but he couldn't have been rescued by anyone better than people who love animals and especially someone who already has feathered pets. I am sure he has a family out there that is frantic to find him and I would assume you have done whatever you think is necessary to find them but if they don't show up then he has a new home. We are a friendly group of people who love their greys and all feathered friends, in fact we are sometimes referred to as nuts over our greys, they are like our own children and as such are treated that way. You will find lots of useful information in our many threads so read thru them and ask questions if you have any and we will help you in any way we can. If you have some pictures of this grey you would like to share with us we would love to see him.
  25. Erika, you and Cooper are both blessed to have found each other and from the pictures and your commentary I don't know who is happier, guess it is a toss up, thanks for giving us such a wonderful update on Cooper and for sharing the pics of him with us, he is a sweetie.
