  1. Only let him play with a few toys at a time, keep some back to rotate on a regular basis as they need different ones to keep them stimulated. Jen is right about the vet, go ahead and locate one so you will have one to go to if the need arises and besides he will need yearly checkups anyways.
  2. Well congrats on getting Tango to finally eat the pellets, way to go. You still have a way to go yet for Echo but I am sure you will finally succeed at it, just keep trying.
  3. Aww come on Dave, you are spoiling all the fun of having the fids come in and enjoy dinnertime with the family, running their little talons thru the food on the plate, throwing what they don't like on the floor and flinging what sticks to the beak wherever it will land. Thats what is wrong with the world today, no one sets down to the family dinner table with all the family together.
  4. Glad to hear everything came back negative and your baby grey should be fine, thanks for letting us know.
  5. Lucky you, those are very good pictures and I would guess those two are your sons, thanks for sharing them with us.
  6. Ferris Bueller's Day Off - Alan Ruck
  7. Jake is a nice healthy looking Cag and thats too bad that he is starting to chew his feathers but you are spot on with the possible reason why. They do get used to the amount of attention they receive on a regular basis and since circumstances have changed and now he does not get that level of attention he has turned to chewing his feathers. I don't really have an answer for you but maybe one of the other members will have some ideas or advice that might help you with this problem. In any case don't stress out about the chewing, if you bring a lot of attention to it then it only reinforces him to do it all the more. You can read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can.
  8. Hello John and welcome to the family.
  9. Thats a very good point Caroline, I would be very leery of putting another bird in that cage and using those same toys without cleaning them thoroughly, you can never be too careful. A necropsy should have been performed so you would know what you were dealing with.
  10. I knew you were kidding and I just played along. You will find we are all a bunch of friendly people who have the same interests, our beloved greys, and you are part of our family now and will be treated as such. If we don't have any problems at the moment then we just chat and have a little fun. I know you will love it here, heck I can't stay away.
  11. Hello Shannonzee and welcome back to the family, didn't realize you had joined a long time ago but since you didn't have but a few posts I knew you had not officially introduced yourself. I only nudged you a little, believe me if I had spanked you then you would know it. I can tell you have a big heart when it comes to birds and glad to hear it, if it weren't for people like you so many birds would go homeless and unloved. You rank way up there on my scale of warm hearted people. As you well know by now we do have lots of useful information in our many threads so continue to read thru them and do ask questions if you have any and we will help you in any way we can. We do have a homemade toys room where you will find lots of ideas and suggestions for cheap bird toys. If you have some pictures of Belle you would like to share with us we would love to see them.
  12. Thanks Steph for letting us know about the appt being rescheduled and let us know what you find out Wednesday.
  13. I would not even consider putting another bird not even another grey into the cage with Belle, greys as a rule do not get along with other birds not even their own kind unless they are clutch mates. Greys need their own cage to call their own, their space that they feel safe in and even if the new bird and Belle would get along they still need separate cages for you never know when the time will come that one of them decides to take a bite out of the other, spats can and do occur. I know you want to cut out having to get yet another cage and heaven forbid another one to have to clean but this is the only way. I don't think you ever introduced yourself in the welcome room, why don't you do that and tell us some more about you and Belle, maybe some pictures too.
  14. I'm so sorry Rana for your loss but you did everything you could for her and it wasn't enough but she is flying free over the Rainbow Bridge now and she is no longer suffering. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
  15. I would continue with the preening sessions if they enjoy it as I see no harm in it, of course supervised by you but then you are doing just that, wished my grey and conure had that kind of a relationship.
  16. He is so cute all dripping wet and loves his showers too, what a good bird he is and I won't tell if you don't.
  17. Yes apple cider vinegar is touted to be good for so many things, google it and you will find lots of uses for it.
  18. She is adorable in all her shots but the one of her now she is a real beauty, she has matured into one good looking Tag, thanks for sharing the pics with us, you should be so proud.
  19. A picture would help a lot Melisa and maybe one of the more knowledgeable members will be able to give you an opinion on it.
