    CHARLIE

Oh yes Charlie is a handsome fella and he looks like he is full of mischief, you can just see the wheels turning when you look at those eyes of his, thanks Shelia for sharing a couple of pics of him with us.
  3. I have not noticed that in Josey, actually she is quiet when it gets closer to her bedtime, funny how they are all so individual that they can be so different from one another.
  4. Hello SamsDad and welcome to the family, so glad you did find us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Sam. I am so sorry about your loss of Nelson and he had a rather short life at 20 years but I am sure they were happy years and you are right, they are amazing creatures. We have a pet memorial section here where you may write some about Nelson if you like, some people find that helps to share their feelings about a loss of a beloved pet. You will find lots of useful information in our many threads so do read thru them at your leisure and do not hesitate to ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. Thanks for including a picture of Sam in your opening post, how old is Sam as he does not look like a very young bird?
  5. Well you have quite a flock of birds don't you, you don't mess around with a couple of birds like me, I know they keep you busy but I bet you wouldn't trade it for all the money in China.

    snoring??

I don't hear a peep out of Josey during the night, of course she is not in the bedroom with me either but she is very quiet once the sheet goes over the cage and I don't hear a sound before I go to bed.
  7. Aww he just wants some of that warm formula that he sees the baby get, no harm in that and it may help with the bonding process, at least it is better nutrition than the seeds.
  8. Hello Marcellos_mom and welcome to the family, so glad you found us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Marcello. What a lovely sounding name for a grey. Is Marcello a rescued or rehomed grey? In any case I am glad he found a new home from wherever he came from and I bet he is getting spoiled rotten. We have lots of useful information in our many threads so read thru them at your leisure and do not hesitate to ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. We love to look at pictures of each other's greys here so if you have some of Marcello you would share with us that would be great. A lot of greys will have a favorite person who can do most anything with them and others they just tolerate and my Josey is pretty much the same way but she is gradually allowing my hubby to handle her some but not a lot.
  9. Hello Lori and welcome to the family, so glad you could finally join us and participate in the forum, we look forward to hearing more about you and your greys, all four of them. Wow it must be nice to have four greys around to keep you company and I bet there is never a dull moment at your house. You have 2 very pretty young greys, they are so adorable at this young age with their dark eyes, thanks for sharing them with us. We have lots of useful information in our many threads as you may have already noticed and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can.
  10. Hello Jim and welcome to the family, so glad you found us and we look forward to hearing more about you and your grey. What is your grey's name and have you had him from the time he was just a baby? Do you have any other birds? You will find lots of useful information in our many threads so read thru them at your leisure and do not hesitate to ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. We love looking at pictures here so if you have some of your grey you would share with us we would appreciate it.
  11. Hello Elliemm1 and welcome to the family, so glad you found us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Harrison. Is this your first grey, first parrot? You have certainly came to the right place for we have many knowledgeable members who go out of their way to help one another. It is exciting waiting for a grey baby to wean and be able to bring it home where you can lavish all kinds of love and attention on it, the time will go so slow, like waiting for Christmas morning. You will find lots of useful information in our many threads and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. We love pictures here too so if you have some of your new baby we would love to see them.
  12. Sarah this will take some time for Jack to settle down and feel comfortable especially since he was kept in his cage all the time before he came to you. I would open up his cage door and see if he will venture out, most greys get curious about the other side of the cage and when he feels safe enough he will come out. You can encourage him by offering treats to entice him out but let him come out on his own. The others have given you some good advice and he has probably plucked himself in stress from the new home and environment but you must ignore it, you don't want to give any reaction that he might perceive as encouragement to continue it. The improper diet is contributing to his poor feather condition if he was only on a seed diet and when he gets used to eating lots of vegetables, grains, legumes and fruits he will improve and he could be going thru a molt which will make them look a little scruffy looking. I doubt he needs his beak trimmed but they do need their talons filed down a little if they don't get filed down enough from their perches but a vet can do that for you at the visit. Why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us some more about you and Jack and share some pictures of him too.
  13. Then I think I would err on the side of caution and take it out of the house, if it was all natural things like spices and such it would be ok. Maybe some of the other members will know more than I do and chime in with their opinions.
  14. I hope the vet can give you some answers when you take him in tomorrow but I hope it isn't anything serious. Please let us know what you find out and don't forget to introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us some more about you and your grey, like what is his name.
  15. Wow thats a great deal you got on a cage, you were in the right place at the right time, you are so lucky to have a place nearby to get stuff like that and extra lucky to have a vet that thinks about you, you are so blessed.
  16. Wow Shady is flying already, it seems like just yesterday you were bringing the baby home to handfeed, I know you are so proud of her/him and I can just see the excitement that must be in your face right now.
  17. Hello Dberes and welcome to the family, so glad you found us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Gracie. Thats wonderful that you could take in this older grey, had she had just this one owner before coming to you? A lot of greys will prefer one sex over the other but she may warm up in time to at least accept your wife. She may never have the kind of relationship you have with Gracie but at least she may be able to interact with her and not get bit. You will find lots of useful information in our many threads and do not hesitate to ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. I look forward to seeing some pictures of Gracie when you get the chance.
  18. "You just wait, when you get up to go potty I am getting in that wrap, heh heh heh!"
  19. My sun conure sleeps in one of those tents and has ever since I added it to her cage, she seems to like it.
  20. I am so jealous of your grey, Josey will not do that, she will hang upside down in her cage playing but she won't go over on her back for me, thanks for sharing those pics with us, you lucky girl Pat.
  21. If your grey is excessively wiping his beak on a rough surface then he may wear it down too thin and we had another member whose grey did just that, I would remove it for the time being and see what happens.
  22. I would take it slow as it may freak him out and it may not. I wear reading glasses and Josey is always trying to chew on them if I am wearing them but most of the time I am not wearing them and she is used to them now. If you have been allowing Gilbert on your shoulder then you may have to be careful of when you are wearing the glasses. Its funny how small simple little things like that can make them so fearful. I had on some fingernail polish one day, I don't normally wear it and Josey freaked out when she saw it, I had to go take it off before she would let me handle her.
  23. Thanks so much Dan for sharing those with us, I would have loved to be able to go there to see those birds in person, maybe one day.
  24. Yes I use it and I get it from www.swansonvitamins.com as that is about the cheapest place to get it.
  25. Thats because it is organic and because it does not have all those additives it has a shorter shelf life than the others so you cannot buy it by a bigger size than you would use up in a shorter period of time, that is the only drawback.
