  1. I have someone who I take my birds to when I am going to be gone for more than a couple of days, she has other birds of her own so they have some company. I am going away this weekend but my hubby is going to look after them since it is only for 3 days. Josey is more accepting of him now and as long as I have their food portioned out for them he can put it in their bowls. A petsiter would be an option but not all areas have them and being gone as long as a week he really should be allowed out for periods of time. Some vets will board animals but I don't know how much if any time they would be out of their cage, I have never used that route. Maybe others will have some more suggestions for you.
  2. Yep, we go out and spend good money on toys and they will play with anything, including a sock, hope it was clean:sick: just kidding, I can see it is. I love the one where ZZero is hanging out to get that peanut, that is so adorable and so typical too for they will do just about any acrobatic feat to get a treat. Thanks for sharing these pics with us Cindy.
  3. Alice is a very pretty grey from the pic in your avatar and she seems to get along very well with your lorikeet, Pickles, that is such an endearing shot of them together, thanks for sharing them with us.
  4. That really is cute of him on the swing, thanks for sharing them with us.
  5. Happy Hatchday Smokey and may you have so many, many more to come.:kiss:
  6. Today IS April Fool's Day and it is also Caroline's, aka Casper, birthday so Happy Birthday Caroline, hope it is a good one for you.

  8. Its probably about time for a molt and he will look a little scruffy but if he is plucking you would see bare places and the feathers you see laying around would have chew marks on them but I doubt that he is plucking. Some greys do not like water but they do need baths, do you have a small cage that you could put him in and use a mister to wet him down. You can also purchase aloe vera juice and use that to mist him with, it makes the feathers softer and the skin more supple. If he is molting you will see pin feathers and he may not want to be petted or touched as those can be very sensitive. Have you tried offering vegetables in different forms, cooked, mashed, raw, chopped and so forth, sometimes they prefer them a certain way but keep offering them for sometimes they take a notion to eat them after avoiding them for a long period of time. Why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us some more about you and your grey, like what is his name?

  11. Greys do hold it all night, that is why there is that big bomb in the morning and some don't like to soil their cage so they hold it during the day until someone comes home and lets them out, then they drop it right off, what a relief it must be.:laugh: My Josey is not so finicky about her cage, she dumps in it.:whistle:
  12. CaboWabo, why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us some more about you and your greys, love their names btw.
  13. Pat its not too late PMSL {Feel-good-0002006E}
  14. Well Penny I know you are disappointed but you are right, it would have happened differently if it was meant to be, who knows another chance might just come your way sometime in the future for we just don't ever know do we.
  15. Dave is so right about the greys and if anyone should know it is him. Josey used to only let me touch her or pick her up and now she is more accepting of my hubby, she won't go to him off of me but she will off her playstand or cage and she is now giving him kisses that she would not do before. There are certain things that she will allow me to do and certain things with him, you just kind of have to go with the flow.
  16. We have good company!!:woohoo: Akela is a beautiful name and I bet she is as beautiful as her name, can't wait to hear more. Now go get her and let us see her.:whistle: :laugh:

No wonder you call yourself funnyfarm, I have read your profile and you do have quite a collection of animals, thats nice that you have rescued most of them. Please continue to read thru the many threads here for lots of useful information and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. 22. You like that huh, it gets more appropriate the older I get, see I was having a senior moment, I should have known from your screen name that you were from the UK, what can I say:blush: :whistle: B)
  23. You are just going to have to ignore it for if you give any indication that you are paying any attention to it then it serves its purpose. Imagine you have a 2 year old child and it wants your constant attention and screams for it, do you give in and give it to shut him up, no you don't. You will have to put up with it for a while but it is the only way, sorry.
  24. Yes I am from VA and you are right, it is one of the most beautiful states in the US, are you from VA? You mean the "Virginia is for Lovers" slogan?
  25. Double the pleasure, double the fun!! That was very commendable of you to take both of them as I can imagine that the one with the injured beak would not be wanted by most people but their loss is your gain.
