"""male Greys bond better to woman and female greys bond better to men"""
Thats hogwash Pat, I don't really think it matters what sex they are, Josey is a female and bonded to me, sorry to burst your bubble but someone correct me if I am wrong and please don't let it be Dan, anyone but Dan. :silly:
I don't live on a farm now but I used to as a child, that was a long, long time ago and we had cows, chickens and pigs, no horses.
We did have some pretty bad winters though.
Congrats Caitlin on your grey being a boy, thats what you wanted and you got it and a big one too and let us know how the tests come out.
Dan, I saw that:angry:
I don't see a problem with it as long as it is properly vented to the outside which of course it has to be, I also use a wood burning fireplace and have no problems.
Thanks for reminding us Dave that none of us is qualified to give "expert" advice here, we give our opinions that we have made concerning our own personal experiences and that never takes the place of a licensed avian vet.
Josey doesn't watch TV so she doesn't have a favorite but she does like the video clips I play that are posted on this site, she listens intently to those.
Lettuce really adds no nutritional value and it is mostly just water with little calories, no wonder we eat a lot of it when we are trying to lose weight. If you are going to give some lettuce make it romaine, but it is better to give other vegetables that would contribute to vitamin and mineral requirements.
That sounds pretty typical of a grey, nothing but the best and then use you for a washcloth, happens every time, you sound like you have fallen head over heel for her.
I'm sorta glad that Josey does not hold her poops until I get home to let her out for one day I might be late coming home and she will suffer from trying to hold it. She does usually drop hers in several designated spots in the cage.
Josey has started to do a cat's meow and I no longer have an inside cat, have one outside but he never comes in, I guess she could have picked it up off the TV but it sounds very good.
I think Thorn has found the magic button and lots of time when they do talk it is like a floodgate has been opened and now you won't be able to shut him up, not that you would want to.
I can't really tell about his tail from that picture but it looks ok to me, so his tail is a brighter red than most Tags, he is very handsome.
She may just like sleeping on the bottom of the cage, greys are different and I have heard other stranger sleeping positions or places, my Josey sleeps on the top part of her boing.
That is interesting that you see a difference in Ben's level of aggression if she is off the Harrisons for a few days, have you asked your vet about that? Maybe she really does love them that much that she gets mad if she doesn't get them.
You don't have too many Pat, you have just enough for you and I know you love each and every one of them with all your heart.
So Senic, you want a cockatoo or a macaw, do you have a specific one you would like to have?
I'm like Pat, those outfits are cute but why cover up their good looks with those clothes, they are pretty enough "naked";)
Thats great you found a good vet this time and I hope all the tests come back that he/she is in excellent health and it sounds like it is.
I have no experience with handfeeding so I will let one of the other members who do answer your question on that.
Thanks Caitlin for bringing up this subject as it is an important one and we can't think of everything to make our fids safe, you may have saved some bird's lives today with this thread.
I have a small travel cage also but that adventure pack does have the cover that if there is too much going on then they are covered somewhat from it and if you like putting it on your back then it is perfect.
You have to watch any toy that has any kind of rope or fabric for frayed ends and such, it would be best not to put those kind of toys in the cage but use them on playstands or places that your grey plays when out of the cage and is supervised. They need to be trimmed off when getting frayed on the ends and if they do manage to get themselves tangled up in it at least someone will be around to extricate them so they don't hurt themselves.
Yes vet wrap would be one solution to the problem and it comes in so many colors it might make it more appealing to Rita. There might be other solutions that might make the wood less slippery but they escape my mind at the moment, maybe some others will have some suggestions for you.
