  1. I have a scale that came with a removable perch but I weigh Josey without it, she will stand on the scale itself, I taught her well.
  2. It seems to come under the heading of both food and toy but it does look interesting, I may just have to try this one too, thanks for sharing that with us.
  3. I am so glad to hear that Beau is adjusting nicely, you must be so proud of him, good luck with a second job so he doesn't eat you out of house and home.
  4. Meko is probably testing you to see how you will react, just like a small toddler will do. The others have given you some suggestions that may work for you to get him to stop biting.
  5. Oh I hope it isn't a scam but there are so many scams on the internet that it wouldn't surprise me if it was, I have my fingers crossed that this is the genuine article.
  6. You have been very lucky if this is the first time in 3 years she has destroyed some furniture, you are going to have to get her some wood blocks to chew on. Nice pictures of Ben, thanks for sharing them with us.
  7. Thats a fine looking playstand, I think you did a wonderful job with it, thanks for sharing a pic of it with us.
  8. Her voice is simply amazing, thanks for sharing that Dan, I had heard about her performance but had not heard it until now.
  9. Hello Tamarah and welcome to the family, so glad you found us and we look forward to hearing more about you and your grey, btw, what is his name? We pride ourselves on being an active forum where there is always some members on at any given time and questions usually get a quick response. Greys are very cautious creatures, they do not take to any change very quickly, new toys and things have to be introduced very slowly or they will freak them out. Do you have any other birds or is this your first parrot? You will find lots of useful information in our many threads and do not hesitate to ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. We love to see pictures here so if you have any of your grey you would like to share with us please do so.
  10. He is a handsome fella and yes that cage is way too small for a grey, please do get him a bigger one as soon as you can but that is a good idea to leave the door open if you are at home but close it up if you leave or at night. Thanks for sharing those pics with us.
  11. I am going to get a playstand that is made out of crape mrytle branches, I saw one in Virginia Beach at the BCV convention. A guy in Williamsburg makes them in all sizes, he had one that was on a rolling stand and was close to 5 feet high, I wanted to buy it but had no room in the vehicle to transport it home. But he is coming to our bird fair in June so I told him to bring me one just like it and I would buy it. It had 2 cups for food and water and hooks all over to hang toys on, I think Josey would love it once she got used to it.
  12. We are here for you anytime you need us, thanks for the compliment.
  13. So your partner won't help, well don't let that stop you, it wouldn't stop me if I wanted them both and this is the opportunity of a lifetime to get clutch mates, you go get both if you want both, you have our support if it matters any.
  14. Enjoy it while you can for a lot of them outgrow that cuddliness when they become more independent as they mature, not trying to burst your bubble but just to be aware that it may not last.
  15. April 16 is also the 2nd anniversary of the massacre at Virginia Tech, what a horrible tragedy.
  16. In one word YES, please stop this activity for we have bacteria in our mouths that could make a grey very sick or even die.

  18. You wouldn't have to join another board just for eclectus parrots, we have some members here who have eclectus and would be able to help you with it. Erika, aka Baxtersmom, has a rehomed eclectus and she could probably give you some pointers. Yes I know rehomed birds do come with some baggage but if you have the time and patience to work around that then they could make excellent pets and companions. In any case let us know what you are going to do and if the house gets more than just the grey.
  19. Gosh Carol, how neat is that, I say go for it if you want both, they get along because they are clutch mates and two won't be that much more trouble than one would be. You are a lucky woman and this is the chance of a lifetime, you go get both now ya hear. Just look at that picture of both of them, now how can you not take both, that is so adorable, thanks for sharing that pic with us.
  20. Try reading thru this link, hope it helps. http://www.greyforums.net/forums/the-photography-room/89533-how-to-post-picturesphoto-tuturial.html
  21. Then lets hope it is as Dave puts it, you caught it early enough that the prognosis will be good, at least that is what I hope especially since he is otherwise acting normal.
  22. And a bird house it is, fill it up with birds, birds and more birds.
  23. I am glad to hear that Whisper's beak is better, sometimes they grow so that a trim is necessary, yes vets are expensive and all those tests really add up but it is money well spent if it helps your bird. Sorry to hear about your vet taking another position, but thats the breaks when you have a good one, they are in demand for greater projects but I am sure you will find a solution soon.
  24. You cannot put two greys together in the same cage unless they were raised together and then maybe not even then. A grey needs a cage to themselves to call their home and they don't want to share it with another bird even a grey. Of course you may get another grey and the two of them may get along but you still need to keep them in separate cages for you never know when one may take offense to the other and one or both could be hurt or killed. If they get along you can have them out at the same time to play together but you should always supervise such time together. I am not trying to dissuade you from getting another grey but just be aware they each need a cage, good luck and let us know what you are going to do.

    ***Food***

I really don't know myself but I think Pat is about right on the amount, Josey has pellets available all the time and she gets 2 meals a day and some of my dinner in the evening. Kenz I love that picture of Bonek, the feathers are so pretty.
