Pat it sounds to me like Adaya is weaned and Jen has given you some sound advice as she has experience with this sort of thing, thanks Jen.
  2. Greys do hold their poo overnight, that is why we refer to the morning bomb, it is a big one due to holding it all night, its probably a safety measure as when they are in the wild they don't want to give away their position to any predators below.
  3. Josey goes nuts for cheddar cheese and she favors sweet potatoes, chicken bones, carrots and her morning oatmeal with red palm oil.
  4. Their beaks do flake off and it kind of looks like a chip missing but I am guessing that Chimay's beak is just fine, especially if he is eating and acting normal. Their beaks are growing all the time and if it did chip off a little piece it will grow back.
  5. Lemme tell you one thing Erika, Josey is not that messy, I have never seen the likes of what Cooper had on his beak, Josey is just too proper a girl to have that much mess on her beak, she would have already flicked it off before I could ever grab the camera to take a picture of but I will try.
  6. Hello Phaynes and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and this grey. That was great that you could take this grey in when he needed a new home, its not easy to work with an older grey that has already had a home or two before coming to you but with some time and patience he should make a good companion. Thats pretty typical of a grey to take to one person over another but you can still have a relationship with him just not like the one he has with your wife. You could be the one to give him treats and such but just don't force yourself on him or it will backfire. Please read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do not hesitate to ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. We love pictures here so if you have some of your grey you would share with us please do so. BTW, what is your grey's name?
  7. BZM, why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us some about you and your grey.
  8. Josey gets her cheddar cheese every week, thats the only thing she really goes nuts for so maybe her calcium intake is good, she also likes a little bit of yogurt.
  9. """"I'm always doing homework lol"""" Thats great and you will continue to learn more every day as you come here, I think I learn something new here every day. I already feed the Harrisons but I have never called that number to request a sample, maybe I should.
  10. My two human children are grown and gone so my two birds are my children now and as such I worry about them just as much, funny thing is they stay children all their life unlike our human kids that grow up and leave.
  11. Hello Bobbie and welcome to the family, so glad you found us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Zazu. Greys are notorious for picking one favorite and Zazu has chosen Wayne but that doesn't mean that you are left out completely. Yes he is more willing to interact with you when Wayne isn't home but you can have a good relationship with Zazu but just not like the one with Wayne. You will find lots of useful information in our many threads so do read thru them at your leisure and do not hesitate to ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. We love pictures here so if you have some of Zazu you would share with us we would be most grateful.

    New Ekkie!

Well congrats on getting an ekkie, can't wait to hear more about Verde, glad you renamed him, Kramer just doesn't fit, pictures too if you can manage it.
  13. They can certainly keep us worrying about them, I would be like you Brittany, I would be worrying myself silly until I could get home and see for myself. I am so glad Pepper is fine and you owe your Dad a favor now, alls well that ends well.
  14. Being organic they don't have the preservatives in them that others may have and that is why they have a longer shelf life. Josey's feathers look great and I don't know about the less aggressive part for Josey is sweet as sugar and she has never bitten me so maybe there is some truth to it.
  15. Its hard to tell what it was that spooked Chimay but you did the right thing to ease the situation but I am a firm believer in animals picking up on things that we don't notice, there are too many occurrances of it not to pay attention to it.
  16. Carol you don't want 20 lbs of Harrisons pellets, that is too much at a time for two greys, because Harrisons is organic it has a shorter shelf life so you don't want to buy more than you can use up in a couple of months. I would buy the 5 lb bag or maybe two 5 lb bags and leave one sealed up until you need to open it. I don't think Josey has ever eaten any other pellets than Harrison's high potency, I am sure there are others that may be just as good but it is recommended so much by avian vets that I feed her that exclusively. I don't buy in bulk as I only have two birds and I get almost all of it online, except for Harrisons I get most of my supplies at www.drsfostersmith.com
  17. Thats great that Adaya has another fid to play with, its hard to tell what kind of mischief the two of them will come up with, I can't wait to see the pics.
  18. Yes she is brilliant Melissa, I totally agree!
  19. Ok your grey eats paper, what do you want to know, you didn't say much and we can't help if you don't give us some more info or are you just stating a fact?
  20. Don't worry, if they are going to talk they will regardless of whether they whistle or not, Josey still does the wolf whistle and she talks.
  21. Erika and some others have eclectus parrots and a lot of us have pretty much most of the other parrot species so there are members here who can be of help to others with parrots other than greys but greys are our speciality.
  22. Thats a good sign if he is playing with his toys, great news.
  23. Is his coat always like that? He is a cute doggie, bet he makes for good company, thanks for sharing a pic of Tevish with us.
  24. Hello Scott and welcome to the family, you are going to love it here.
  25. Inquiring minds want to know, can't you tell:whistle:
