  1. Thats great Pat that they get along so well, some greys will accept other parrot species as friends, glad they get along and thanks for sharing the pic with us.
  2. This is something that should concern all of us, this is just what they do is chip away a little at a time until it is all gone. And a lot of people think that what difference does one word make, it makes a heck of a lot when you think about it.
  3. I love your avatar, why don't you post that pic in this thread Erika started, you might just have her bird beat for the messiest beak. http://www.greyforums.net/forums/bird-food/132924-put-your-messy-bird-face-photos-here.html
  4. OMG, I'm doing it again!! Why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us some about you and your grey.
  5. I have never taken Josey to any kind of store here, most stores have no pets allowed signs except for maybe seeing eye dogs but glad you got to take Emma with you. I can just see her eyeing all the goodies she could get into, thanks for sharing that with us.
  6. Have you ever given any thought to the fact that your grey may have started chewing some feathers BECAUSE of the move? Greys are very sensitive to change and that is a major change for a grey. I did not see any reference in the link provided that said it was safe for birds.
  7. Yes it was and I listened to it in its entirety, I had heard a little about this before today but had no idea about the implication of what changing one word could involve. This is a serious concern for all of us but especially because we are parrot owners. Please everyone listen to this podcast for if you think it will never happen then you are sadly mistaken, thats how some of our freedoms are taken away from us, a little at a time until it is gone for good. Thanks Lovethatgrey for posting the link.

    wanted

I'll send you anything you want, all you have to do is send me money, lots of it:whistle:
  9. You really need to try to get him on more vegetables, fruits, grains, legumes and some pastas and rices, he needs a more well balanced diet than those seeds and pellets. The pellets are good for him but should not constitute his entire diet along with only seeds. Try offering him some vegetables and such in small amounts every day and even if he doesn't eat them give them to him every day for sometimes they will eventually try them, at least you will have tried. The bathing will help his feathers along with his skin, their skin can get dry and then it gets itchy, if you can get some aloe vera juice and spray him with that it will help a lot.
  10. Hello Ther and welcome to the family, so glad you found us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Jesse. STOP with the gatorade, it is loaded with added salt and she does not need that, anything with added salt is a no no for greys. Have you tried offering her the vegetables prepared different ways? Try raw, cooked, mashed, sliced or whatever ways you fix them, some greys prefer theirs a certain way over another. You need to cut back on the seeds and offer more vegetables, some fruits, grains, legumes and some pastas and rices. My Josey likes spaghetti or any kind of pasta too and most any rice she well go after. I assume this is your first grey but you have had many other kinds of birds but you are finding out that a grey is unlike any other parrot, they have many needs and require daily interaction from their human flock members to be healthy and well and well adjusted. You really should try to bathe Jesse twice a week, either by taking her into the shower, the sink or by spraying her down with water then finishing her off with aloe vera juice, we get that at Walmart in the pharmacy department. It makes the feathers softer and their skin more supple to reduce itching, especially helpful when they are going thru a molt. Please read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do not hesitate to ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. We absolutely adore pictures here so if you have some of Jesse you would share with us we would love that.
  11. Thats about the cutest picture of a grey and cat getting along with one another, that is one special bird to be allowed to eat along with the cat, thanks for sharing such an endearing picture with us Tom.
  12. Mark, I was going to say that it looked like Bogie might have a problem with his beak, you really should have him vet checked. Otherwise he is a good looking Tag and he even has some red feathers, has he always had those?
  13. Save your money Jon, we have hashed this over before and you will regret the money spent and you won't learn anything more than you can learn here.
  14. Now this is good news, thanks Kenz for sharing this with us, I think I will have a margarita now.
  15. Hello Mark and welcome to the family, so glad you found us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Bogart or Bogie as you call him. Thats wonderful that you inherited your uncle's grey and that is neat that he is older than you are but I am saddened to hear he was kept in his cage most of the time. As I am sure you have found out if you didn't already know, greys do require some time out of their cage daily and some interaction with their flock (humans and/or other birds) or they develop unwanted behaviors. Understand that this will take time but you should be able to get Bogie to be a little more sociable but don't expect great miracles for he is set in his ways by his age. Be sure to read thru the many threads for you will find lots of useful information and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. We love pictures here so if you have any of Bogie you would share with us we would appreciate it very much.
  16. It's a hit, Emma finally tried it and I think she is going to love it, thanks for sharing it with us.
  17. Yeah, whats the big problem, greys make messes, they throw food, water, toys and anything else they can get their talons on, accept it as part of grey ownership, you take the bad along with the good. :cheer:
  18. Maybe he sees something there that you don't, maybe he likes talking to the wall, it doesn't talk back thats for sure, you can try putting on in his cage and see what happens, you can always remove it if it doesn't work out.
  19. Hello Robert and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Magic. You have certainly came to the right place for we have many knowledgeable members who may be able to help you with any problems you are having and plucking seems to be one of the more frequent ones. Life has a way of making us so busy sometimes that we have trouble making enough quality times with our pets and our greys do require a certain amount to be happy and for their own well being but maybe something can be worked out to Magic's satisfaction. You will find lots of useful information in our many threads so do read thru them at your leisure and do not hesitate to ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. We do so love pictures here so if you have some of Magic you would share with us we would appreciate it.
