  1. That is a good picture of Ahmani, in fact the pic of all three is adorable, they are so cute at this age.
  2. I hope so too Caitlin, please let us know what you find out.
  3. You have taken your grey to the vet just recently with these symptoms and the vet said he was fine, is this an avian vet?
  4. Thanks Dave for the quick reply. At least ZZero will know what it tastes like to have his mouth washed out with soap in case he ever picks up a bad word.
  5. Hey Caitlin, do you have any new pictures of your mom's caique, wondering how he is looking now?
  6. Somebody likes children's stories, Shrek and Pheona, Fred and Wilma, those are cute couples straight out of cartoons and movies but I like them. I look forward to seeing a pic of them and you are right to leave them alone, they like their privacy but then don't we all.
  7. There is a mountain of information here and plenty to keep you reading for a long time and there is usually a few of us on at any time if you have questions. Ten days is nothing to a grey, he will need lots of time to get used to you so concentrate on that and building trust then you can work on training.
  8. Azzie it has been 5 days and we haven't heard anything about litle Millie, please let us know something.
  9. I bathe Josey about twice a week and usually in the afternoons so she has plenty of time to dry completely before retiring for the night. Use lukewarm to even cold water for their baths as some like cooler or even cold water to bathe in. A lot of us use aloe vera juice for bathing or as an after bath spray down, it helps make the feathers soft and makes the skin more supple, especially helpful when they are going thru a molt. If he is tolerating the spraying like rain falling on him then that is great, some like to be taken into the shower or the tub.

    Newbies

I think Spock is right on schedule Maggie, they do cut down on their formula when they are getting ready to wean and fledge, thats good he is eating his veggies and great that he is not crazy about seeds. He will lose some weight when fledging but he will gain it back later so don't worry too much about that right now. We do have some very knowledgeable members here who have a lot of experience with handfeeding and weaning greys so don't be afraid to ask any question but I think you are doing just fine.
  11. Hello Tarah and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Harley. From reading your other posts I think you are making some progress with Harley but it will be a long road to travel but the destination will be more than worth it. You have taken on a difficult task but with lots of time and patience you can accomplish a lot with Harley, just don't try to rush it, take it in small steps, you won't regret it. You will find lots of useful information in our many threads and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. We love pictures here so if you have some of Harley you would share with us we would really appreciate it.
  12. Hello Akili and welcome to the family.
  13. Hello Miki and welcome to the family, so glad you found us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Gary. You don't say how long ago you bought him but greys need time to settle in and feel comfortable especially if he is older than a just weaned baby. Give him some more time to calm down and be patient with him so he will start to trust you. I hope he wasn't abused in his previous home but if he was then you will have a bigger battle on your hands but it will just take longer to accomplish the same goal. You will find lots of useful information in our many threads and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. We love pictures here so if you have some of Gary you would share with us we would appreciate it.
  14. Tarah, why don't you just open his cage door and allow him to come out on his own, don't worry about putting him back as he will go back in when he gets hungry or thirsty enough. It sounds like he is accepting you but he is testing you too for that is the classic "sucker punch" lowering his head as if to invite a scratch and then biting. Tom, aka SamsDad, has given you some excellent advice, follow that and you should be able to make some headway with Harley soon. Meanwhile why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome & introduction room and tell us some about you and Harley.
  15. Hello Missmybuttons and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and these two greys. So you understand that greys that are used as breeder birds are not pets or vice versa, as breeder birds they have to have the right conditions to mate and raise young. Are you prepared to not have much contact with them if you allow them to mate? Most of us here on the forum have pet greys but we do have some members who breed greys and would be able to give you some advice if you need it. Do you have any other birds right now? You will find lots of useful information in our many threads and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. We love pictures here so if you have some of your greys you would share with us we would appreciate it. BTW, what are their names?
  16. At least she made a good combination, Jenna is one smart grey, thanks for sharing that with us. Josey hasn't made any kind of combination that could compete with Jenna's.
  17. I wish Josey was that easy to take a bath by providing a dish filled with water, she tries to use her water bowl for bathing. So glad Ziva enjoyed her bath, "in the water":cheer:
  18. Looks like there are going to be some good speakers and nothing worth it is ever cheap, if I was in the area I would go but its too far for me to attend, go and then let the rest of us know how it went.
  19. I am glad that Mali is ok as we have had other's greys not fare so well, I have never experienced an earthquake and never want to but I would probably freak out.
  20. Dorian knew a good thing when he saw it, just took a few days to warm up to it.
  21. Caitlin is right about rubbing his head on the area above the tail, he is rubbing the preen gland for oils to distribute over his feathers when he preens, all greys do that, that is why when you take them into the shower the water rolls off their back. He might be itchy and he needs to be bathed at least twice a week and then afterward give him a good spraying with 100% aloe vera juice, it will make the feathers softer and the skin more supple. You don't have to worry about him playing with his feathers, they all do that, just don't make a big deal about it or he might start pulling them out for the reaction he is getting. Two weeks is nothing to a grey, give him some more time to get used to you, patience is a virtue worth its weight in gold when dealing with greys.

    Poop Q

I would keep an eye on it, but like Pat said as long as it doesn't smell and has the three parts it should then I wouldn't worry especially if she is playing and eating normally.
  23. That was short but sweet Melissa, thanks for sharing that with us.
  24. I checked them out, they are great, thanks for letting us know you have added some.
  25. I am ecstatically happy now! {Feel-good-0002006E}
