  1. Ah the ultimate gift from a grey and Jay says it all, tell Paco you love him and walk away, thanks for sharing that with us, how sweet!
  2. A sun conure cannot do the damage a grey can, yes a nip can hurt because it is more of a pinch as I have never had mine bring blood but a grey is a different matter and it depends on the temperament of your bird.
  3. I can believe that Melissa, your brother Matt will do just about anything I think, that was very funny and thanks for sharing that with us.
  4. Tell him not to do that again but yes Hawkins should be ok but if you have any worries just call your vet.
  5. My sun conure sits on my shoulder all the time too but she is no problem. I do allow my grey on my shoulder because she will come off when I ask her to and she behaves when there. She doesn't spend a lot of time there but some every day. If your bird is the kind to obey you when you ask about removing from the shoulder and when on the shoulder they leave your body parts alone then it is ok, otherwise you are best to leave them off shoulder.
  6. What a bunch of great fids Jay, thanks for sharing them with us.

Poor little Phoebe but she is in the right home now and getting lots of love and a good diet, thanks for taking her into your home and your heart, if I had privy to karma I would give you some but except my heartfelt gratitude.
  8. Jill is right, a grey needs to be in the house in the middle of everything to allow her to become one of the flock, she will growl but it is the only way to get her used to having you around. Talk to her softly, read a book or the newspaper to her, play with some toys in front of her and make out like you are having a good time with them to encourage her to be interested in them and she will be interested if you are having fun. This will be a long road to travel but it will be worth it, she needs lots of time and much patience on your part and your family's too for her to ever come to trust you, she may never fully trust you since you don't know anything about her past and how she was treated but you should be able to come to some kind of understanding with her and be able to coexist in the same room without her growling. I hope you have the patience to work with her to make her a pet for it will be a tough one but she has to be inside the home with interaction with the family for this to be achieved, good luck to you and keep us informed.
  9. I will try to get some up of Josey but it won't accept them unless they are very small and then its hard to view them but the pics that were in the threads before the forum was switched over to the new one are fantastic looking.
  10. Hello Bear, please take a good read thru the nursery room for it is filled with some good advice on feeding and raising young greys. The age they wean varies so continue to hand feed him his porridge until he no longer wants it, he will let you know when he is ready. The bird food room is where you will find lots of ideas and suggestions of what to offer him to eat, it seems he is interested in other foods so give him a wide variety, there is also a list of what you cannot feed to him as there are a few foods that are toxic to birds. You have taken on quite a task but I agree that he was being kept in deplorable conditions, poor thing, but it seems like he is blossoming now and will continue to improve since he has come into a family that is providing what he needs and wants. Do take Jill's suggestion of introducing yourself in the welcome room so you can tell us some more about yourself and Bear.
  11. Biscotti does do tricks and very well, thanks for sharing that with us, now what were you using for rewards?
  12. You know since we came to the new forum Dan has less than 10,000 posts so we will get to celebrate it again, yippeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!
  13. That is a great shot of Harvey, the pictures posted on this site are awesome.
  14. Great shots of right down the gullet of a grey, interesting.
  15. I never started one either but wish I had, I do have pictures of both of them taken at different times but a book with notes about the chronological events in their life would have been very enjoyable to go back thru from time to time, guess its never too late to start one.
  16. Good job Emma, good job, thanks for sharing another greyt video of Emma, she is so entertaining.
  17. He looks lovely in this video, love how he manuevers around on his boing, thanks for sharing.
  18. That would make a great video Maggie, imagine Spock moonlightling as a pole dancer!
  19. I never give my birds unshelled peanuts but they do get human grade unsalted peanuts occasionally, I don't see the problem with them.

You have some cute birds, thanks for sharing the pics with us.
  21. I am so jealous of how she will flip herself over and hang upside down from your hand, Josey will not do that. Thats really funny how she calls you Poopie, she is the character if I have ever seen one, thanks for sharing that with us.
  22. It is great to see you back in the fold again, glad to hear that Biscotti is doing just fine, now don't stay away so long.
  23. Hello DrTak and welcome to our family, we are so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Lulu. I bet she is a delight to have and at that great age too where she is adorable, probably still has those dark baby eyes. Do read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can.
  24. I can add my gif to a post but it won't work in my signature.
