  1. They look so nice outside enjoying some sunshine, I'm going to take mine outside today also as it is going to be a nice day for it while I repot some plants I bought, greyt company for that, thanks for sharing the pics with us.
  2. I can't recall a first moment of trust, Josey did not pick me as she was chosen for me by another breeder but I visited her as often as I could before I brought her home so she settled in fairly quickly and has trusted me ever since.
  3. Oh wow, Emma just chatters away as long as she is not aware she is being videotaped, she does say a lot of words and phrases, you have done a wonderful job with her and I love the way she says, "good job" Good job Adina:cool:
  4. Oh please do Jill, I would love to hear that, now what else are you going to get him to say, the sky is the limit you know!
  5. :DThat is so very cute Brittany, hope you didn't really like those curtains;)thanks for sharing that with us.
  6. Hello Nada, this is something your avian vet will have to answer for you as none of us here are vets, you obviously had your grey under a vet's care for the infection so refer back to him/her for additional advice. I hope the vet will be able to help him for that is tragic for him to be blind in one eye. Please let us know what you find out.
  7. Those colorful birds soaring thru the air are beautiful to watch, thanks for sharing that with us Dave.
  8. That Dave will tell you point blank the honest truth, thanks Dave.
  9. Michelle, they can still escape and fly even if clipped, all they need is a good wind, please try to talk your friend into leaving Yoshi fully flighted.
  10. Thanks Michelle for letting us know Yoshi was found and a very good lesson was learned indeed, glad Adanna has her play date back.
  11. Yellow naped or yellow headed they both are beautiful, I look forward to your thread on Saturday Jay.
  12. Jill you are so right, I don't watch such crap, hence phooey is crap!
  13. Wonderful Dave, thanks for sharing it with us.
  14. I have made friends with most of the ones I had previously minus the ones that no longer visit the forum and some have not responded to my request but that could be the fault of their not having the boxes checked to receive pms and requests.
  15. Logan some greys do prefer one sex over the other and since she came from a male owner then you are probably right, but it doesn't mean she doesn't like you. You can establish a good relationship with her even though you may never be her favorite. Many here have greys that prefer one half of a couple even though the other half is the one who wanted the grey in the first place and may be the one who does the caretaking also. Do not be discouraged by her reaction at the moment, you have plenty of time to work on a lasting relationship with her. Talk to her, sit by her and read anything to her, give her treats, play with some toys and act like you are having a great time with them to encourage her to want to be in the middle of what you are doing. But by far the best advice is to be very patient with her, she has spent the last 16 years of her life with one person and it will take a long time for her to come to trust you. I agree about the peanuts, go easy on them and do not feed any in the shell, I give my birds a couple of human grade unsalted shelled peanuts.
  16. Yes I have old t-shirts I wear at home but it is because of Sunny and not Josey. My sun conure chews holes in any shirt I am wearing for she gets unlimited shoulder privileges plus she poops on me all the time. Josey does not spend a huge amount of time on my shoulder and she usually gives cues when she is about to drop a plop and I can get her somewhere where she can cut loose.
  17. Hello Logan and welcome to our family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Kihei.

  22. Desperate Housewives, phooey, I watch Bones, NCIS, Law & Order, those are my favorites.
  23. Hello Ray and welcome to our family, you have come to the right place to learn much about the african grey, you are about to embark on a wonderful journey of a lifetime so let the parade of questions begin, oh sorry they already have, we have many knowledgeable members who will give you their advice. If you do go ahead and get this grey you will have to commit to a certain amount of time and attention for this bird, if you are the type that can handle multiple committments then I would tell you to go ahead but if when you do have more children that would decrease substantially the time and attention this bird would get then wait until the children are older. Regarding the 2 year old child, yes you will have to protect that child from getting too close to the bird, maybe limiting how much the bird is allowed out of the cage for most greys do not like young children because they are so quick moving, it scares the bejesus out of them and then the bird may bite. That price sounds reasonable considering the cage and bird stand are included, the grooming additions are icing on the cake. Please do consider this carefully as we do not like seeing a grey go into a new home only to end up having to go to yet another home, its not fair on the bird.
