This is just the first weekend right, give the bird some time to settle down for we are talking about a mature bird that has baggage that could be hard to deal with but in time it will become easier, just be patient with him and good things will come with lots of patience. I doubt he is not stepping up because of his handicaps for he probably doesn't even know he isn't like other birds, he is just unsure of his new surroundings after all he is in a completely new to him environment and being a mature bird will take him longer to adjust. It sounds like you are doing all the right things for now, include him in the goings on in the house, talk to him a lot and just be there for him and you will gradually see him show more of his true personality, for right now he is a little guarded. Do read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and ask questions you may have and we will do our best to get you some answers. We would love to see some pictures of S, is that his real name, if you would indulge us.

Congrats on getting your first grey, you are about to embark on the relationship of a lifetime and one you won't regret if you read and find out all you can before you bring your baby home and you came to the right place for that. I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your sun conure, I know myself how devastating that could be as I also have a sun conure and she is such a delight to me, she was my first parrot and she is about 6 years old, they are one of the most beautiful of the conures and even of the parrots in my opinion. When you go visit your baby get us a few pictures and share them with us if you would as we love to go "awe" over them.

That is one amazing story Adina of how Emma came to be found and shows what a socialized bird she is to want to come to people she didn't even know but she probably thought they might have something for her to eat. You are one lucky woman to have gotten your precious Emma back safe and sound for we have missed her antics and chatting, Adina you are truly blessed.

Please give my condolences to your brother on his loss of Hans, how sad his life was cut so short but he is flying free over the Rainbow Bridge now.

Don't despair, I believe you will find Charlie so keep looking, I doubt he went far and you seem to have the advantage of word spreading quickly in a small town so chances are good someone will spot him and contact you but I still pray for his safe return, keep good thoughts.

Samantha, did you read thru all of Penny's aka Talon's post that started this thread, surely you don't think we are asking too much here, just respect each other and not get into slugfests with one another because we have differing opinions but this particular event is over and done with so everyone leave it that way, please go back and reread it carefully.
