  1. I certainly hope so Marguerite, that is just appalling that some people are this way and the birds or animals are the ones who suffer.
  2. Something sure spooked her, you may not have noticed anything but she certainly did and she looks wary in some of the shots you took afterward but thanks for sharing them with us.
  3. Congrats on your new grey and much thanks for giving a disabled bird a new forever home. I don't personally have any ideas but we do have other members who will be along shortly to give you some suggestions and ideas for what you can do to help this bird lead a near to normal life. I would love to see some pictures of Lucky and he is so aptly named.
  4. Hello Venom and welcome to our family, you got a great looking grey baby, thanks for posting a picture in your intro post. You will find lots of useful information in our many threads and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can.
  5. Congrats Laura on your new baby grey, now keep us updated on the progress please and pictures would be nice, very nice.
  6. Hello Denise and welcome to our family, congrats on getting a grey and he must be one very special bird. Even though this is an african grey forum we have members here who have toos and will give you lots of info and advice about them, all you have to do is ask. Thanks for sharing some pictures of Mowgli, he is adorable.
  7. Thanks Samantha for providing the link to your blog, I enjoyed browsing thru the videos and reading the comments.
  8. I would love to see a picture or video of that, I know Josey doesn't sleep on her back but it doesn't surprise me that others do.
  9. Sadly this happens all too frequently with some people who hoard birds but I hope each and every one is placed with a new forever family, thanks Samantha for posting it here, maybe some members who live in the New Jersey area will take hint please.
  10. Jay, her post was almost a year ago!!
  11. To cover or not to cover is a personal preference but I do and always have covered my bird's cages at night, I started this the first day they were brought home and I don't recall having any problem with doing it and they weren't covered at the breeders house. I think it gives them a little privacy when they are sleeping.
  12. Sure it is, lots of the members make batchs of different foods, mashes and such and freeze it in small containers, in fact an ice cube tray works great for mashes and bean mixes, you just empty them out into a freezer safe container after they are frozen and then you get out what you need and thaw in the microwave oven.
  13. Well Clare that sounds like a good breeder and if Dave agrees then you better stick with this one for Dave is very particular about his babies and how he raises them and even though you may not be getting one out of the present clutch he is allowing you to come and visit with them, I would go with this breeder and get one as soon as he has any available for you, great find Clare.
  14. Yes those conures are fast but mine would rather spend her time on my shoulder, I don't chase her around too much. Jill I guess you reap what you sow and better you than me, that Harvey is gonna keep you on your toes besides you could use a little thinning out. Harvey is officially entering the terrible twos, congrats Jill.
  15. Thats very funny Jules but Steve should know better by now that Beau and Argyle are going to sound just like you, I have had something similar happen to me, Josey was imitating my daughter's little dog and she barked just like him, I could have swore that dog was in the house but I knew it wasn't, they are masters at it. Nope it isn't, two would be twice the fun!!
  16. Oh I know this well as I have a sun conure and Josey can do that scream very well, I have to go look sometimes to be sure which bird did it but she doesn't just keep repeating it over and over so it is fine, I don't mind the conure scream so no matter which one did it I love it.
  17. The poor dear, I hope he gets better real soon as its no fun being hurt, give him a big squeeze for me will ya, keep us updated on his progress and bless him.

  19. Congrats on picking up Chili today, can't wait to see some pictures when you get him home and you will do fine, this will be the first day of the rest of your life with Chili and what a lifetime it will be.
  20. Happy Hatchday Biscotti, my you are one year old today, hope mommy is very good to you today and you get lots of love like always.

    Cockatoos

You have two beautiful cockatoos, thanks for sharing the pictures with us.
  23. I think Josey's vet took blood out of her neck but she doesn't seem too traumatized by the avain visits we have made, I stay with her in the examining room but they take her into the back for drawing of blood, she is usually fine when she gets back home like nothing happened. All greys are different and I know some people who's greys do hold grudges for a while but they too get over them and Francis will too.
  24. Lee I am so sorry to hear of this, you must be devastated but I would certainly contact a lawyer for advice to see what you can do about this situation. It seems that people will do anything anymore and if I had been in your situation I would have taken Cocoa to see the man myself and not let this son take him from my house but maybe sharing your story with us will save it from happening to someone else. Please keep us informed of what happens.
  25. Quinn is adorable and so is Mango and they look so cute together, thanks for sharing them with us.
