  1. I can see how their tongue could be cut on something and that would explain his behavior, that will heal up in time but the good thing is he is healthy and going back next week for a recheck, thanks Chris for letting us know.
  2. They certainly do notice anything different, I once wore some purple fingernail polish, I don't normally wear any and Josey would not have anything to do with me after she noticed it, I had to go take it off before she would let me handle her.
  3. Hello Rocky, looks like he finally got a clean cage but give him some time and he will be back to his old self and soon you will see his real personality, hope he didn't come with too much baggage, he looks great, thanks for sharing the pics with us.
  4. Thomas, why don't you give this thread a thorough read thru as it might help: http://www.greyforums.net/forums/showthread.php?109373-Body-language-most-frequently-seen
  5. Thats a cute picture of Nilah holding her spoon, she is smart as a tack, thanks for sharing it with us.
  6. None of my birds seem to care what is on the tv or computer screen but they do pay attention to what they hear.
  7. I think if you are going to be gone for 8+ hours a day then you will need to have your bird caged for there are too many things they can get into and harm themselves and no one wants that, surely you can get your bird into a cage if need be.
  8. A lot of greys like music but whether they will pick up the sounds and imitate them is up to them, you can't force them to do what they don't want to do. Why is this so important to you? Why don't you just enjoy the sounds they do make and for whatever reason and love the bird for what they are and they can imitate almost anything.
  9. Try offering the veggies fixed different ways in the mornings when they are more hungry and keep trying for sometimes finally they will eat some, you have to be persistent.
  10. I love this picture, I would love it more if it was my Josey doing it, thanks for sharing it with us.
  11. He certainly is entertaining in the mornings, what a happy fella, thanks for sharing it with us.
  12. Lots of birds will get a little grumpy when they molt, those new pins coming in feel itchy and uncomfortable, he is working on them to open them up by preening.
  13. A good friend of mine calls these kind of people "fair weather friends" any kind of disagreement and they are no longer speaking to you, well count your blessings Heather as you do not need those kind of people but I do feel bad about Otis, he is the one suffering for their stupidity.
  14. The six months time frame is not set in stone, besides your baby is almost five months old and it did say around six months, it can vary from bird to bird but I don't know what causes the color to change only that it does and eventually it will be light yellow. In any case I wouldn't worry and maybe one of the more knowledgeable members will be able to tell us why it changes.
  15. Hello Kim and Jeff and welcome to our family, congrats on the new addition to your flock and they must keep the both of you busy but happy. I don't do any training with my grey or even my sun conure or cockatiel but some members here do and they are capable of all kinds of tricks, be sure to check out the training room for lots of ideas and suggestions from others. We would love to see some pictures of your flock and what are their names?
  16. It sounds like Rambo is going thru a molt right now, thats in evidence of all the little feathers laying about but if you think he has some kind of problem with his beak then by all means give your avian vet a call, you may have to take him in for an examination, in any case keep us informed Chris.
  17. Well it appears you may have both of them in your life if your brother-in-law takes the older one but definitely have him join the forum and read up on greys especially if he doesn't have much knowledge on them at the moment for they are not for everyone, he needs to know they require lots of our time and attention and we don't like to see them have to go on to yet another home if it doesn't work out.
  18. Well I am sure you cleaned up the mess for Mom, glad your Angel loved the toy and destroying things is what they do best, would have been nice if you could have shared a picture of her enjoying it, hint, hint.
  19. Hello Thomas and welcome to our family, so glad you could give this grey a new forever home and in time she will come around but she just needs some time to settle into her new home so be patient with her as she adjusts to her new surroundings. You will find lots of useful information in our many threads so do read thru as many as you can and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. I look forward to seeing some pictures of her when you feel it is ok to take some. BTW, what is her name?
  20. What an adorable bunch of baby greys, I just want to grab them all up and give them a good squeeze, wow this is really exciting Janet, knowing you are playing the waiting game right now but soon you will have that little bundle of joy to enjoy and share with us.
  21. What an adorable grey baby and yes do give him plenty of time to settle in and feel comfortable, let him come to you in his own good time for if you try to rush him it will backfire on you. It may take him a while but he will come around, thanks for sharing the picture with us and I look forward to hearing and seeing lots more of you and Sid.
  22. Congrats Janet on your new addition to the flock, I knew you were interested in getting a Cag but its for sure now, can't wait to see some pictures.
  23. Josey is going to chow down on some chicken this evening as I have a whole chicken in the oven, she loves it.
  24. Hello Neil and welcome to our family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing lots more about you and your new grey. Wow that is one thing to be burglarized and take your material possessions but taking the bird was like taking one of the family, I guess you never found who took him, how sad and it makes me so mad that someone would do that, lowly scumbag. I am glad to hear you are opening your heart for another grey and be sure to share some pictures when you get him home.
  25. Bull butter! If this is where you take your fids then its time to find a new vet for he doesn't know squat and lies to boot, pellets should be a "part" of their diet but not replace the veggies, seeds, nuts, legumes and fruits they get each day and besides the Harrisons pellets are available from lots of sources other than from a vet.
