  1. Looks like a lot of nice treasure there, I love going to bird fairs, shows and/or conventions as they always have a wide assortment of toys and things for birds, I usually end up buying lots of stuff, thats great that Chili was all for getting on that new atom.
  2. Greys are amazing creatures aren't they, too bad you didn't catch that on video but maybe you will get lucky and he will do it again, especially since you laughed as they love a good reaction, what a little ham, here is hoping you get a vid of that encore performance.
  3. If you are taking him to an avian vet they will know how to handle him without causing too much trauma but it does vary from bird to bird but don't be nervous about the visit or Greyson will pick up on that and if the vet and technicians take over for the examination while you just watch then that will help too to keep you from being the "cause" of the distress. My grey usually handles the exams just fine and soon after leaving the vet's office goes back to her usual self and Greyson probably will too. They will examine him all over, under the wings, tail and listen to his heart and other things, I don't know about an xray if they have to sedate them for that, maybe one of the more knowledgeable members will chime in on that but just keep calm and relaxed when he is being poked and prodded and then you can step in and "save" him from them.
  4. Thats one of my favorite online sites to buy birdie supplies.
  5. I use a black cotten sheet to cover Josey's cage, it makes it dark but it allows air to pass thru, maybe you are using something too heavy but he also might not be used to the covering of the cage since you have only been doing it for a short time, you know how our greys are reluctant to any kind of change in their environment.
  6. I'm sure you are Val, are you getting prepared for more?
  7. OMG Robin, what a scare that must have been, good thing you weren't gone for long or Blue would have been a goner, so glad to hear he is doing ok so far, poor little bugger, he must have been so frightened. Thanks for sharing this story with us as it is a reminder that we all should have something ready for such an emergency for it could happen to any one of our birds, I am going to do something similar to what you have so I can be ready, better to be prepared and not need it than to need it and not have it. Please keep us informed of Blue's progress.
  8. Janet I know you have worked long and hard for this day and I am so glad Louie is finally coming around and wanting some interaction with you, perfect example of how it is so important to allow a rehomed bird to adjust to their new surroundings and I see more advances in your and Louie's future, Ana Grey and Louie look good on the boing together.
  9. Yes he is enjoying a spray down and having the time of his life, he looks very full of himself, I just had to share.
  10. I second that comment of "Thats cool" and it just goes to show how some time and patience will bring greyt rewards and now you realize it was all worth it, he is coming out of his shell and unpacking his bags, he looks great there on the floor playing with the jacks, thanks for sharing the pictures with us and you are doing a greyt job.
  11. The others have given you some excellent advice as she is telling you not to rush her right now, she is in a totally new environment and has to be allowed to get comfortable in her new home, let her come out of her cage on her own before asking her to step up. Morana is so right on to not push her right now for you are trying to bond with her and build a trust that has to be earned, it is not freely given and you will know when she is ready for interaction by her body language, be sure to read this thread, http://www.greyforums.net/forums/showthread.php?109373-Body-language-most-frequently-seen as it provides lots of insight into how you can see what signals a possible bite. This getting used to you and her new environment could take weeks or months but it will be worth it for you will have built up a relationship with love and trust that will carry thru the rest of your life together so take it easy and use lots of patience, you will be rewarded.
  12. I saw this on facebook today and had to share with all you amazon lovers, enjoy.
  13. Thats great that you get to spend some time with her while waiting for her to wean and yes I agree that a grey is too much bird to stand on one finger, I use my whole hand or turn it up sideways to give her a better grip. When you are doing training sessions keep then short so she does not get bored and they lose interest very quickly. I hope you are not allowing her to explore the inside of your mouth for we have bacteria that could harm or kill your bird plus its not wise to have her beaking your lip right now, when you gain her trust and bond with her then you can allow her more freedom, get to know your bird really well. I look forward to seeing some pictures of Shelby.
  14. Chris I hope the ten days go without incident and she continues to do well and be happy, she is being such a good sport about it, keep us informed.
  15. I can relate to that as I grew up on a farm, that first lush grass after wintering on dry hay you don't want to be anywhere close. Bird poop does not stink and it is usually in small amounts that is easily wiped up but some people freak because it comes out of a butt hole and usually what comes out stinks but if you come to my house and are freaked out by the sh*t on my shirt then you can leave and don't let the door hit you in the a** on the way out.
  16. Marcus knows what he likes and you got his seal of approval, good job!
  17. Oh we get your "drift" Janet, gotta be careful.
  18. You sure have some beautiful cats.

  19. It doesn't bother me either but some people just freak out over seeing some of it on my clothes, I guess no one likes being crapped on but hey wipe it off and you are good as new.
  20. I could say it but it wouldn't be the truth, why is it that husbands always have a problem with our birds, my hubby doesn't say anything about my birds being on the counter or table but he doesn't like seeing them take a dump there, just like he is always saying "you have bird crap" on your shoulder but he uses a more colorful word for crap, heh heh, to which I reply "so what else is new" give me a break, I wear a bird on my shoulder when I am at home and I have managed to keep the crap out of his food so far, hope it stays that way. Tell him to learn to deal with it, its better than them walking around on the floor where they could get stepped on.
  21. I don't use TOP pellets, I only use Harrisons so I am of no help either.
  22. So glad to hear that Buster is eating and acting more normal, they can have an off day now and then just like we do but if you have any doubts do not hesitate to give your vet a call for sometimes by the time a bird shows signs of illness it is already too late, do let us know about him tomorrow please. Like the others I bet you do have some stories to tell about life with Buster so please indulge us sometime.
  23. Josey gets one Nutriberry a day but she really goes for yogurt dipped treats from Kaytee, I put one in her bowl every morning and that is the first thing she goes for. I would say your bird could have several a day and have them daily.
  24. No thanks Val as I have my own, maybe not as much as you have but enough, nice picture though, looks like someone enjoys it.
