I get a lot of my boxes from ordering bird food and toys from online suppliers but you can also use cereal boxes or other boxes from things you get at the grocery store.

I am so sorry to hear this Karen, yes I remembered you telling us about a macaw that had a broken pelvis that the breeder wanted you to take for you were the only person he felt could take on the responsibility, how sad that poor macaw suffered a horrible death but like you said it just wasn't meant to be. Your macaw is out there somewhere and your patience will be rewarded when the time is right, again so sorry.

In a home setting where they are kept as pets they won't breed, they need special conditions for them to do that so no worries about babies if you happen to get a male. If you house them in separate cages, as you should do even if they get along great, they will still bond with you, they would be more like good company for each other being in the same room and if they get along when out on playstands together then consider that icing on the cake.
-
Forget the toys and just give him a box from now on to play with, sometimes it is the simple things that keep them occupied and happy, he looks like he had great fun, thanks for sharing those pictures with us.

My Josey will do that sometimes when she is in her cage and she wants out but since Toby was already out then I think it may be a foraging behavior, maybe one of the more knowledgeable members will enlighten us as to what it actually might have meant.

The proof is in the pudding or in this case the pictures, patience has worked wonders, he would come out on his own when he felt he was up to it, good for you on letting him make the decision and not forcing anything, you have come a long way and its hard to tell how far you might go with him, thanks for sharing the pictures with us, Dorian is a greyt looking grey.

Chili Pepper is very handsome in his aviator harness and he was such a sweet looking little baby, thanks for sharing the pics with us.
-
Thanks Penny for the tip, I think I have a couple of them lying around somewhere but I too use some old washcloths to clean up poop as paper towels aren't cheap but then nothing else is either.
-
Yes we have many members who have amazons so we felt the need for a room for them, Chili Pepper is gorgeous and I bet he is a delight to have around, at 8 months you have some time yet before the Jekyll & Hyde problem comes into play but at least you know what you are getting into. I can't wait to hear and see more of Chili as he matures into a typical amazon. Is Slater and Chili the only two birds you have right now?

He looks like he is full of life from the videos and pictures you shared with us, its great to hear he is doing just fine and he looks the picture of health, thanks for sharing the pics and vids with us and don't stay away so long next time as we love hearing about him.

Me too Rana, its been 4 days since we have heard anything and I am getting antsy.

NikB, yours might be the exception to the rule and there is always going to be those cases but as a general rule it is best to provide separate cages and more than likely sometime in the future you are going to have to do just that for your two. I couldn't be happier that you have two greys who get along so well together and I hope it stays that way but you always have to be prepared in case it doesn't.

This is not the news I wanted to hear Heather and I don't know anything about chlamydia but here is a thread that deals with that very subject, hope there is something helpful in it. http://www.greyforums.net/forums/showthread.php?137018-CHLAMYDIA-Helpfull-information!!!

Update on Morgan - a long road of hurdles
judygram replied to rbpittman's topic in Cricket's Amazon Room
Thanks Robin for the update on Morgan and I find that unusual for a bird to only want to eat pellets as usually most of us are trying to get our fids to even touch them but you are making progress and who knows what he might be eating by the end of this year. Morgan is certainly taking his time in coming around to you but I believe the wait will be worth it and I look forward to another update soon with even better news, now how about a few pics of Morgan to appease us. -
If you are talking about two greys the answer is No, even if they seem to be best buddies when out on a playstand together and this makes no difference whether you are talking about two females, two males or one of each. I don't know how old your two are but especially if they are mature birds then they need a space they can call their own, they become more independent as they mature and need a cage they can call their own, their safety zone though they may spend their time out of the cage together they still need separate cages.

Dayo was being....well Dayo, what else would he be, I would be disappointed if he wasn't, thanks Dan for sharing that story with us.

If that is what your vet decides too then it may be for the best but go with whatever the vet thinks is in Lucy's best interest and keep us informed as always.

A first grade school teacher had twenty-six students in her class. She presented each child in her classroom the first half of a well-known proverb and asked them to come up with the remainder of the proverb. It's hard to believe these were actually done by first graders. Their insight may surprise you. While reading, keep in mind that these are 6-year-olds because the last one is a classic. 1. Don't change horses... until they stop running. 2. Strike ...while the bug is close. 3. It's always darkest.... before daylight saving time. 4. Never underestimate.... the power of termites. 5. You can lead a horse to water but.... How? 6. Don't bite the hand..... that looks dirty. 7. No news is..... impossible. 8. A miss is as good as a...... Mr. 9. You can't teach an old dog new....... Math. 10. If you lie down with dogs............ you'll stink in the morning. 11. Love all........... trust Me. 12. The pen is mightier than ...........the pigs. 13. An idle mind is the best way ...............to relax. 14. Where there's smoke there's.................... pollution. 15. Happy the bride who gets .................all the presents. 16. As you have stated that you are only 23 years of age whats the rush to get into something that requires lots of thought and research to get started in, my opinion is if you are truly serious you won't rush into doing something until you have all the facts and have thoroughly researched the subject of greys and what all it takes to get started in breeding and frankly you haven't shown much maturity so far so why should anyone here take you seriously. Stick around for a while, share your birds with us, let us get to know you better and give us a reason why we should think you are worth taken seriously.

I am curious as heck, what town is "Tomato Town" if I may ask?
