  1. You are not crazy, you know what you want and you go out and get it, so glad you are getting the dog you have always wanted, Tisha is a very beautiful dog.
  2. Yes patience works wonders, it takes time to gain a grey's trust and you are making small steps in progress to being able to touch Momo more and more.
  3. If you have always covered their cages then by all means continue to do so, I cover my birds cages at night as they are in the family room where we are until we go to bed, they seem to settle down and you don't hear a peep out of them until I uncover them in the morning. Some people do not like to cover their bird's cages and that is fine if it works for them.
  4. Twix, you should check out feathered friends on facebook as it is a group of bird lovers and you are welcome to share your pictures there.
  5. Hello AryoAsh and welcome to our family, so glad you could join us. Greycie is a lovely looking Tag from the picture you so kindly included in your intro post and I am guessing she is a little stinker since you refer to her as a monster and a brat. That could describe any one of our greys for they are demanding and know what they want, usually something we have that we don't want them to get a hold of. I am sorry to hear of your other two greys passing but there may have been something genetic that was passed along to the babies but in your case it just wasn't meant to be. I am sure Greycie is a handfull but her companionship is well worth it if she is anything like ours.
  6. I used to have chickens when I was a kid and lots of times we got the baby chicks and raised them up to lay eggs but ours were kept in chicken houses all the time, I have never had any that just ran loose, we have coyotes and other predators that would make it very difficult to keep free range chickens alive unless they were penned up at night.
  7. I am having no problems but it seems like it may have to do with each computer's security settings, just my opinion.
  8. Hello Melinda and welcome to our family. Shelby is very much a mature grey and since she has layed eggs before then I think she is nesting. The box you provided her with is sort of encouraging her to nest and she is protecting it therefore she is biting you when you come into the kitchen. I would suggest you remove the box and find something else she can get on like a playstand, something that is nothing like a box, she might be plucking herself to have material for lining the nest as some birds will do that. Forget about trying to find a male for her, she is a pet and the liklihood that she would be receptive to a male is highly unlikely, even though they are flock creatures they do not get along with other birds especially their own kind unless they are nest mates. The egg laying and her being aggressive are directly related.
  9. I think its better to go with your gut instinct, if it just didn't feel right then it probably wasn't, your grey is out there and I am sure you two will meet sooner rather than later.

    Heartbroken

I am so sorry about Willow, you have my heartfelt condolenses. Jay is right, putting a bird under anesthesia is always risky, you take that chance so don't beat yourself up over it, there was nothing you could have done.
  11. Greys love to play fight with some of their toys and it looks like your grey got his bruise that way, my Josey has done the same thing, you will find that when he is older he will win the battle more often without getting bruised in the process, just keep an eye on it.
  12. I checked the product you listed and it says nonstick and that usually means teflon, maybe you can choose another model that isn't nonstick as it looked like most of their toaster ovens weren't nonstick.
  13. Thanks for the update on Anya and you might want to check into pet insurance.
  14. Try this thread: http://www.greyforums.net/forums/showthread.php?195427-Is-it-2o-clock-yet-!
  15. Hello Tyler and welcome to our family, you have come to the right place to find out most anything you need to know about sharing your life with one of these awesome creatures.
  16. Its bullcrap, if a grey is going to talk and most of them do they will do it no matter the hours they get out of the cage, you can't believe everything you hear and you did the right thing to ask here as we will set you straight.
  17. Of course he is supportive if he truly loves you and obviously he does, you have a good man.
  18. Yes you should try to discourage this behavior, you can try distracting him to something else like a toy but since he is a mature grey do not pet him down the back, under the wings or anywhere around the tail area as those are areas that can be sexually stimulated by touching.
  19. If you are creative you can make a lot of them yourself with items found in most households but be sure to browse thru the Homemade toys and playstands room for lots of ideas and suggestions. Why not introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us more about you and your birds.
  20. Hello Ryan and welcome to our family, so glad to hear you are bringing a grey into your flock.

I am gonna check this place out too one day, I have always wanted to go there and it would be a 6+ hour trip for me but one day, yes one day I definitely will.
  24. Thats what it sounds like to me and yes he loves you very much but if he gets like this when you are playing maybe you should distract him to something else and let him calm down, you don't want him losing his dinners all the time.
  25. Steve is right, better not say anything that could come back to haunt you, remember this famous quote from Will Rogers, "Live in such a way that you would not be ashamed to sell your parrot to the town gossip."
