  1. Thats a really nice playstand and thanks so much for the directions on how you made this come together, you are very creative and know how to make this work for Dorian, you knew what you wanted and made it happen, Dorian is very lucky to have you taking care of him and I have no doubt that putting it together while he watched had everything to do with his acceptance of it when finished, you did a wonderful job with it, thanks for sharing it with us all.
  2. Birds don't get gas like we humans do but greys can make perfect imitations, I know. Beans are a hit with Josey too.
  3. It doesn't sound good to me either Penny, I think a vet visit is in order and soon.
  4. I am so sorry about your loss of your home and some of your beloved companions, that is a double whammy but glad you and your family got out safely, guess your dogs are the heroes as they alerted you to the danger since the alarms failed to go off, I will keep you in my thoughts that tomorrow brings a brighter day.
  5. Hello Christi and welcome to our family, I see you do have a love for greys from your link you included but please do tell us more about you personally, if you have any greys, their names, ages and so forth so we can get to know you better.
  6. You can open his cage and let him come out on his own when he is ready, some will want to be close to the rest of the family and some may need a little time to take everything in before venturing out and by all means keep any other birds at a distance for the time being as he settles in.
  7. You are lucky in that respect that you get to visit with her every day, I didn't have that luxury when Josey was a baby still being weaned, those daily fixes will have to be sufficient for now, it seems like just yesterday she was just a baby and now she is going on 6 years old, my how time flies.
  8. That is one nice cage and I like that feeding station, your baby is going to be one lucky grey to have a palace like that, do let us know how it works out for keeping the mess down.
  9. Good things come to those who wait, your baby will be home as soon as the breeder thinks she is ready and then the rest of your life with her will begin, patience dear. You can check to make sure you have everything you need for her arrival, cage, toys, food and you can spend some time browsing the forum especially the nursery as there are lots of threads with helpful information that might come in handy but I know how you feel but soon, real soon.
  10. Its all part of the greyt experience and if you can't handle the mess then you might want to consider another companion, birds are messy plain and simple but I wouldn't have it any other way, now back to the broom and mop, a woman's work is never done.
  11. Thats the spirit, you can do it Kelly, we have faith in you.
  12. I have thought about getting another tiel but Gypsy is bonded to me now and I prefer it that way plus she has the company of the other two birds I have so its not like she is alone all day, I didn't have a choice as my tiel just dropped in one day and stayed.
  13. As I only have one I won't be much help, of course mine is in the same room with the other birds but I have heard that you can easily put 2 or more together in the same cage, same sex of course unless you want babies.
  14. Immuborry, what is very interesting? Why not introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us more please.
  15. I may have to check them out, thanks Meg.
  16. I can relate to this as I have a sun conure of my own, they can be cautious of new things too but I bet those sunflower seeds will win out in no time, nice playstand by the way and did you make it yourself?
  17. Of course you can stay Sarah, all that is needed to be a member here is to have a love of greys and you obviously have that so stay and join in the conversations for I feel that one day you will have another grey to share your life with. Don't beat yourself up over this, we all have done stupid things that we later regretted but just to say I think this type of scam will never happen to you again, one lesson is all that is needed but the world is full of people who will prey on the gullible and I think this scam will be played over and over again with other people, maybe by the same man. You will know when the time is right to get yourself another grey for you should take all the time you need to grieve for Archie right now, just remember when one door closes another opens so keep your heart open to possibilities.
  18. Sassy, I have both sizes of these cages, they work great for travel and would work for a sleeping cage also, my grey travels in the larger one when we go visit my son and his family on a weekend visit, a four hour trip one way and she does fine in it, she plays and chatters and generally enjoys being with me. I also use it to take her to work with me occasionally, it also collapses to store away when not using it but I leave mine ready to use just in case there is an emergency and have to get everyone out immediately. Here is where I got mine from: http://www.thecountryroost.com/catalog/default.php?cPath=28_29&osCsid=0bd0eb7c9f31ba4a0eae0ac67687a095
  19. You have a great sense of humor, what you wrote about procrastination and masturbation just about cracked me up, thanks for the laughter.

  20. He must be from the south as their manners are more lax, maybe even a redneck as they are the worst!
  21. You don't have to worry about petting her down the back as young as she is, now on the other hand I do have to be careful as Josey is nearing 6 years of age and I don't want to encourage any sexual behavior, enjoy your baby and touch her as much as you can and she will allow for now, it is sweet when they act that way.
  22. I had always heard it as "Beans, beans good for the heart, the more you eat em the more you fart, the more you fart the better you feel, beans beans for every meal". The beans out of a can are good but the ones from the bag are better especially if you use a little country ham in them when cooking but for the birds you will have to leave that out.
  23. Kelly, quit your bellyaching and get those papers done! Sounds like you have a lot to accomplish in a short amount of time so quit complaining and get busy. You can do it.
  24. A serving size is whatever he will eat on one time, you don't have to fill the bowl all the way up, I usually give more than I know they are going to eat but it still is a small amount, you don't have to worry about them over eating so just use your best judgment. The beans will take several hours to cook unless you soak them overnight, the bag they come in usually gives instructions, I wouldn't give him canned beans as they will have a lot of sodium and even rinsing them does not help. Thats a good idea to try adding a little juice to the pellets and see if he will eat them that way.
  25. Is this the ugliest baby bird you have ever seen? Quite unusual looking but does grow into a beautiful bird so be sure when you open the link to click on view gallery and you will see the grown bird, a kea parrot, just had to share this with you. http://www.independent.co.uk/environment/nature/is-baby-nelson-the-ugliest-bird-in-the-world-7654635.html
