  1. This is terrible news but if you do owe any money to this man try getting the money and pay him what you owe and see if that gains Archie back to you. It is so important to keep all paperwork but then you thought he was on the up and up and now he has involved the police in the matter. He is obviously a callous person not thinking of Archie at all or he wouldn't have gone thru with this. My heart goes out to you for it is a horrific experience but hang in there and gather together all the proof you need to get him back, we are behind you 110%, good luck and keep us informed.
  2. I might have to go shopping for "rabbit" supplies!
  3. What "ugly" little birds, just kidding but they do look a little strange but they are going to be beautiful little birds, that one looks like he is a hearty eater.
  4. Why not get one of those heavy duty bells, the stainless steel ones, Josey loves hers as she play fights with it, it is the one toy I do not rotate out, a lot of frustration has been worked out with one of those.
  5. Hello Sassy and welcome to our family. So you have decided to get a grey huh, do you have any other birds right now or is this your first one? My hubby was not totally thrilled when I got my birds but like you it was something I wanted, he has his things and I have mine but he does enjoy some interaction with them now so all is fine, I bet your hubby will be more enthusiastic after the bab y is home. Be sure to read thru as many of the threads as possible to learn all you can and do not hesitate to ask any and all questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can.
  6. Exactly Kim and don't feel that you have to have a man to be complete or happy but I know that will have to be one requirement if you do get interested in another man that he consider the pets as part of the family and not just possessions.
  7. Congrats on your new addition, what a cutie pie, I once thought I wanted one of those but my head took over and I didn't get one.
  8. If you are reacting in any way to the squawk then that is just making him do it all the more, you have to ignore the bad behavior and reward the good, I know it is difficult but its the only way. If you feel you cannot give him the time and attention he deserves then maybe it would be in Bodhi's best interest to find him a new forever home.
  9. Thanks for sharing those pictures of Chicken, he is so cute and yes they can be scared of the silliest things sometimes, imagine a butterfly being scary.
  10. That is a funny story but we never want to have our birds sleep with us as there is too much of a chance of us rolling over on them and with their hollow bones it would be fatal but thanks for sharing that funny story with us.
  11. Lucky is adorable and lucky to have you, thanks for sharing those with us.

Lets get this thread back on topic please.
  13. Excellent choice in my opinion, the bigger the better.
  14. He figures you are a handsome fella and he just wants to keep his appearances as well.
  15. Doug is right, you need to move out of this environment as soon as possible, cigarette smoke is dangerous for him and for us not to mention the cats which if one of them should get their mouth on him the bacteria could be lethal. The move need not be stressful if you handle it right, tell him what you are doing and if you are calm and easygoing then he will not be alarmed by the move. I don't see how you are getting any sleep in a place like you describe. Please do introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us more about yourself and Bandit.

I really feel for you NutMeg and your problem with Lucky and I do not have any answers for you, your best bet is your avian vet, I know that is expensive but none of us here are vets so we would just be guessing. I think you have already done the best you can for her and maybe she won't have any more seizures. It looks like she gets a good variety of healthy foods, I so wish I could help you but we will be here for support.
  17. Hello NutMeg and welcome to our family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Lucky. I read your other thread about the horrible experience you had with her, hopefully one of our more experienced members will have some insight into your problem with her. How many other birds do you have and what are they? We adore pictures here if that is any hint.
  18. Doug, I make just a little for the birds, mainly Josey, I put a little in a small glass dish and add some water, microwave for about a minute and then add the palm oil, stir and make sure it is not too hot before offering it on the spoon. I do this first thing in the morning after uncovering them and Josey will usually do her big dump after I have brought her out to the kitchen and put her on a small stand with newspaper underneath it.
  19. Since Chicken is around 17 years or older then he is set in his ways and more than likely he won't allow any more touching than he does not, most greys do not like a lot of hands on interaction, some head scratches and neck scritches are about it for touching, some will cuddle some when babies but when they are adults they get more independent. You have done good to maintain a relationship with him but you may just have to accept him as he is and since he can be a biter I wouldn't recommend you have him on your shoulder, when there you can't see him as well and may not be able to stop him from biting you in the face, since he has not been on your shoulder so far why not just let it be as it is now. Hands seem to make greys nervous at least a lot of them so don't force him to accept them if he shows he is uncomfortable with it, you could lose trust and you do not want that. We would love to see some pictures of Chicken if you have some you would share with us.
  20. I feed Josey some oatmeal by spoon every morning, its a good way to get some red palm oil in her diet, she will eat it right off the spoon, I sort of hold it up and she rakes it off with her beak, you can vary it by adding other things to it, she seems to enjoy this.
  21. Hello Harbrow and welcome to our family. Just what is going on with your Tag that you need help with? Why not start a thread in the grey lounge and give us the details so we can see if we can be of any help to you.
  22. Hello Laura and welcome to our family, so glad to hear you have a grey and congrats on your new addition to be. If you heed the advice already given you will do just fine as he is a part of your family. I would love to see some pictures of Mico if you have some you would share with us.
  23. I agree with the others that this kiln should be in a separate building away from the house for it is a fire risk not to mention that the fumes might possibly be lethal to your birds. Hubby might not like that he has to build you something else but hey thats how it is.
  24. Josey tolerates showers and I do it with a handheld nozzle, she does try bathing in her water dish but she does not accomplish much except for getting the floor wet around her, she doesn't scream when I do it but does a little grumble as it is going on.
  25. I really wish we had some type of store that catered to just birds, all we have are pet stores that carry some bird supplies but nothing as varied as what you would find in a store entirely of all things for birds, I have always wanted to go to that bird superstore in New Jersey and one day I will make it there but for now I have to rely on the internet or the bird fair to get stuff for them.
