My birds never seem to care about mirrors. They don't have them in their cages, but I do have some around the house, and they don't seem to care one way or the other.

I have always allowed my birds to have plastic staws, they love to chew them but in ever see them eat any....they don't eat any oftheir other toys etc, why would they chose straws to swallow pieces of??? IMO

Sat. December 14 is Rikki's 8 year Birthday! She is just 2 months younger than Talon, Rikki is the sweetest grey ever! Loves all of us, Loves cuddles and to be petted until she falls asleep cuddled up against you. One of her favorite sounds is COO.... She is the best sound maker in the house, copies every sound she hears us make with appliances etc. Happy Birthday Rikki, I love you! Heres my Rikkibird as I like to call her!

I too went thru a divorce and Talon really liked my ex. She has adapted well togim not being around, but it has been 6 years. 6months isn't much time in grey time, so don't expect too much too soon. Brutus is still getting used to his new life routine so to speak, so give him more time. He may sense quietness in the house since you are alone and not talking as much out loud to another person. My birds are quiet when I'm subdued, and more outgoing when iM in a good mood. You also don't know how much he talks when your not home. My Rikki prefers to talk when she thinks your not listening.

I do have 3 in my basement tossed on the floor... but I am hoping to turn my room into a bird room and hang them up again...it's on my short list...I did buy the cargo one with that's really rough, but I also found one made out of cotton fishermans rope that is really soft and nice.

As an owner of a tag, cag & amazon, all were clipped and never allowed to fly since they were hatched, I allowed their wings to grow out, and although they struggled for a while, they are the most proficient fliers ever. They can maneuver thru tight spaces, land perfectly and fly as smooth as can be. Given time and allowing them lots of practice, they will recover from not being allowed to fly in their early lives.
