  1. I totally agree with Tari. That is why we only have one grey. Talon is bonded with all 6 of our family members. And I want to keep it that way. :)
  2. Beccy, hang in there. it is more sore the second day, it will lessen, and feel much better by tomorrow. Keep it moist with fragrance and perfume free creme. That will lessen the soreness and help in healing.
  3. Hi Dan. I only put the bird sitter video on about once a week. I don't want Talon to make more bird sounds, squawking, etc. than human words. But that's just me. I prefer having a conversation with her in my language, not a birds!!
  4. Kim, those are beautiful. And I"m glad they are on such a beautiful person. You truly are special for many reasons, and I thank you for sharing them with us.
  5. Nice Beccy! I'm proud of you........be careful you'll catch the fever!!
  6. The test I was referring to didn't specify tag or cag. So I was unaware of that.
  7. So, that would make her 9 weeks old maybe? And she is a little over 390 grams. Does this sound right? Have you taken her to an avian vet yet? They would know for sure, if this information is correct, she's probably about 9 weeks. We got our bird at 8 1/2 weeks, and this sounds about right. I'm sure others here have more advice.
  8. Hi & Welcome! I'm very happy to hear you rescued this poor bird. 12 years old, that's wonderful. Things are going well, that's even better. Does he have a name? If you have a photo, we'd love it if you posted it,we really enjoy pictures!! Again, there is lots of info here, and you've joined a wonderful family! We look forward to hearing more. Any questions, ask away, you'll get lots of help here! :)
  9. Can you take a photo of her eyes, and post it? You can tell by their eyes as they change with age. How much does she weigh? Does she get around well? Can she fly?
  10. Talon has had a happy hut that she loves to sleep in every night. She crawls right in it when I put her in her cage and tell her it's time for night nights, and leans her head up against the side when she sleeps. She stays there most of the night. I would hate to think I have to take it away from her when she is older, she only uses that cage and hut to sleep in. She is never in it other than bedtime.
  11. Aah! That's so sweet! She loves you so....{Love-000200BF}
  12. {Feel-good-0002006E} Remember guys...repeat after me: FAMILY FORUM, FAMILY FORUM, FAMILY FORUM. Just kidding!
  13. Hi, Snow & Welcome! Like everyone has said, I too, am happy to welcome you to our family! I look forward to hearing more about Mr. Boo. I am also a member of The Bite Me Club! Both for horses, and Greys!!
  14. You are very lucky to have such a wonderful family! :cheer: :cheer:
  15. Yes Stephanie! That is wonderful news. I'm so happy for you. It must have seemed like 2 months instead of 2 weeks!! Thanks for the update!! :cheer:
  16. Lidia, that is excellent advice! Talon started talking at 4 1/2 months, and she does exactly what you have posted. She can use some words in context already at 21 months, and has quite a sense of humor. She will lightly nip, and then laugh! :pinch:
  17. Very Nice! You do good work Melissa!! :woohoo: :woohoo:
  18. Jane, I'm very sorry you are upset with the members here. I know no one meant any harm. Everyone is just feeling concerned for that grey. I didn't see any posts actually accusing this family of abusing that bird. Some of the members felt badly for the bird, and wanted to see it have a stable home with the extra care & attention it needs to help overcome the abuse it suffered prior to that family acquiring him. This family is unable to do that because of all the traveling they do. At least that is my take on the posts here. I believe that once plucking has started due to stress, or abuse, and is allowed to continue, it becomes a habit. (I'm sure someone here will correct me if I'm wrong.) I hate to see you leave here over misunderstandings. I think if you reread these posts, you will find that perhaps you interpreted them differently than they were intended. I'm sorry your grey does pluck it's feathers. You seem like you've done everything possible to find out the cause & help him. I commend you for that. I understand there can be other reasons for plucking as well, and sometimes not. Best wishes, Penny
  19. This is an interesting thread with very different opinions. I guess you do what works best for you. I too, handle Talon like CD does with Ceasar. Although she doesn't go to the stores with me, (her wings are not clipped). She does go for car rides, and is encouraged to step up on any visitors we have. She is very friendly and willing to go onto a strangers hand. She won't stay for too long, but she will visit with them for a bit. (we never force her to go with anyone she doesn't want to.) We have a home business and many people in & out through out the day. She does not fear anyone, and will stay and sometimes even talk around strangers. I think it has helped her to be more outgoing.
  20. Nice job, Talonsis! Beautiful pictures! But of course you've had a great teacher & mentor. :cheer:
  21. Hello & Welcome! How old are your greys? We'd enjoy hearing more. Do you have any photo's you could post?
  22. Hi Connie, and Welcome to our family. Your birds are beautiful! Sounds like things are progressing. It takes time, but you obviously love them and have the patience.
  23. Great ideas Connie. Thanks for the suggestions! I, too would love to see some photo's of the different toys you've made. Perhaps it will spark the creative side in all of us!:silly:
  24. Hi Christina, Welcome. There is a lot of good information here based on experience from many members. If you have the time, read as much here as you can. You'll learn a lot that you won't find in books! I;m glad you joined our family. Looking forward to seeing photo's if you have any. :cheer:
  25. Glad to hear she's doing so well. I look forward to seeing your pictures!:cheer:
