  1. They sound very interesting and like something our birds would like. Could you post a picture here for us all to see? I think you'd get more feedback much quicker.
  2. Hi Kathleen and Welcome to our family. You have some story that you shared. Glad all is well now. I look forward to hearing more. Please post some pictures when you can, we love em!
  3. Mark, that's great! Talon hasn't mastered the ABC song yet, she's still practicing, but she can count to 3! "1.2.3!" And she can whistle the Mexican hat dance song really well! She even mimics the clapping part.
  4. Okay Dan, you asked twice for it, so you win! I was born and raised in Massachusetts. Been to many other states on vacation, but never left the United States. I am married, have 4 children, 3 boys, Matthew age 8, Joshua age 12 & Jeffrey age 18. One daughter, Melissa (Talonsis) who will be 15 in less than 2 months. I grew up in the country, and now live in a rural town pop.1200. My husband is a vegetable farmer who farms 12 months out of the year. I own and operate a Dance Studio. I am also the Bookkeeper for my husband's business. I have danced all my life. I love reading, my favorite being scary murder mysteries. I have a 2004 Kawasaki 450 motorcycle, but don't drive it much anymore,(no time). I've always loved animals, cats especially,(we have 2) but now I prefer Birds. Have had many different pets over the years. We have 3 horses that really belong to Talonsis, but she enlists the help of her mother in the care of them. I have a 55 gallon aquarium filled with exotic goldfish that I love, in my office. I enjoy running a couple of miles every day, as long as my Ipod is working! I have driven tractors/farm equipment. Harvested & packed many different types of vegetables. (hate it) Had many different types of jobs over the years before having children. But mostly teaching dancing & running my own business has been it. Oh and Tari, I love to crochet also! So, there you have it, a short version. :side: :silly:
  5. Heather, My, you have been through a lot at such a young age. I'm sure it's made you stronger and wiser. I know it was hard to share that with us, but Thank You for doing so. I believe all things happen for a reason, and all you've endured seems to have made you a very sweet & caring person.
  6. That is plenty wide, bit how high and what is the length? You want to have enough room like everyone stated previously.
  7. Sherri, she could have a bacterial infection that she picked up when she was lost. Did the vet run any tests on her? I think you need to take her back immediately. Today, if you can, but don't wait!
  8. Dan, Congratulations! I'm very happy the big day is finally here! Do you have 2 greys? Thanks for the update, and keep us posted in your spare time! Remind Kim about sharing.............. :P
  9. Talonsis has taught Talon how to say her name, and then spell it after! She says, "Talon, T, A, L, O, Nnnn! The funny thing is, she says it in the exact voice of Talonsis! I can't tell who's saying it! :woohoo: :woohoo:
  10. Welcome home! I'm glad he's coming around. He's just letting you know he's mad at you for leaving, he will forgive you. Keep us posted!
  11. You can cook with a grey as long as you are not using Teflon coated pans. I would definitely put her in another room due to safety issues with the stove being hot, etc.
  12. Pryde, how are things going? I like the second picture, thanks for sharing. :cheer:
  13. Hi Sampson & Welcome. I agree with the others, the information you've given us is sketchy , and confusing. Maybe you could clear it up with MORE information. I know we can help you, but we need more details from their history with you.
  14. What a lucky bird!! :cheer: :cheer:
  15. That is so cute Lidia!
  16. Yes, She needs to be seen by the vet ASAP! Lidia is correct. If you see signs, she is very sick. Please let us know what happens. Don't Wait! Good luck!!
  17. Heather, those are beautiful pictures. I enjoy them very much!! :)
  18. Cindy, any update? Why are they selling him? That's important info to find out.
  19. Kitty, PLEASE Stay away from putting the perches that have the holes in them in the cage. My grey is the one that dblhelix was referring to. She had one of those perches in her cage, and did get her nail hooked in one of the holes and couldn't get it out. I was home, but in another room and each time I walked by her cage, I didn't notice. I thought she was playing as she sometimes yells at her toys and appears to be fighting with them. She had a toy hanging right near there. Finally when she didn't stop yelling at it, I saw she had her nail stuck way in there, it was very difficult to get her unstuck. I had to remove the perch with her on it, take it & her out of the cage, and try to maneuver her nail out. All the time, she was getting hysterical, flapping, and screaming! It was very scary for both of us. I just Thank God I was home, I have heard of birds that will chew their foot off if they get it stuck for too long of a time. So, from now on, I use the perch on the outside of her cage ( she does love to use it) and I monitor her when she is on it.
  20. Congratulations Mark!! I too, have known Mark from another forum. His posts are excellent. He has a wealth of information on many subjects & issues. He'll be the best moderator for this very busy room. So, a big CONGRATULATIONS MARK!! aka dblhelix {Love-000200BF}
  21. Hi Laine, Welcome to our family! I'm happy you joined. Looking forward to hearing more about you. Do you have any birds? If you need any help, just ask, and we'll be happy to help you!
  22. Hi Victoria, & Welcome! You sound like you have a very nice family of birds in your home. You'll find lots of good information here. I look forward to hearing more about your birds. If you have any pictures, please post them, we'd love to see them!
  23. Hi Keywe, Welcome! Glad you joined our family. I have a separate sleep cage for our grey. It is large, does have toys, and perches, a happy hut that she loves to sleep in, and she has a little food and water, even though she never seems to eat or drink in it. She goes in it for about 12 hours a night, and I do cover her with a dark sheet. It is upstairs in my son's room, that's why we keep it covered, it keeps the light out as he's on the computer at night. Her play cage is downstairs. It works well for us, but is different for everyone.
