    Your Grey's Diet

    Thanks Beccy, there is a lot of great information in the Bird Food room about diets.
  5. I thought this would be interesting to see the varying ages that our greys started to talk. I know the range can be anywhere from 4 months - 18 months. I'm curious what the norm is, if there is one. Talon started at 4 1/2 months. :cheer:
  6. Yes Mandi, please, that will give you something to do while you are in bed resting. I never heard that roasted peanuts are safe. Is that really true? :huh:

    TOYS

    I thought I heard something about the bristles not being okay for them, anyone here know for sure?
  8. From all I have read, I believe that they don't like to go in their cages, because it soils their home. Makes sense to me. I use a potty basket for Talon. :pinch:
  9. Beccy, I believe raw or cooked onions, neither is something they can have. If this is wrong, please someone correct me....:dry:
  10. I would get many different opinions and tests before re homing your bird. There are other solutions I believe. Please keep us posted. :dry:
  11. Hi Kiwi, and welcome to our family! Thank you for sharing that story with us. It's an issue that all of us with female greys worry about. It's helpful that you went through it, (although I'm sorry you did) for those of us that have no experience with it. Thank you, and I hope you love it here! :cheer:
  12. Beautiful, vibrant colors. Mark, I'd love to see more photos from you.

    Asthma

    Readz, my heart breaks for you. My son has asthma, and we have purchased air cleaners from JWR Air Systems. PLEASE read his information on birds, allergies, and asthma. Call the phone number 1-800-939-2473 and talk with Jeff the owner about your asthma. He and his wife both suffer from asthma, and they are medication free with many birds in their home. I purchased his air cleaners for my house over 8 months ago, and my son's daily asthma medication has been cut in 1/2, and that's with 2 cats, and a grey. They ren't cheap, but in the long run, they pay for themselves. you can also visit their website. PLEASE investigate this avenue BEFORE you decide to let your bird go. it's worth the effort. Good luck to you. If you would like to discuss my experiencewith these cleaners and company, please pm me.

  16. Hi Mandi, and I'm very glad you are finally home. Let's hope it's for good this time. I'm sure it will be a while until the excitement from Buddy and your dogs die down. Please keep us posted, and tell that hubby to get some rest too! Glad your back!! {Love-0002011E}
  17. I just went through this with many pm's with Tari. As we recently purchased 2 parakeets, and have to quarantine them even after a vet check up. The recommended time was 45 days. I did not know this, and wish I had. One of them was in the same room with Talon for a short period of time. Has I read it in the FAQ section BEFORE purchasing them. I would have had less worries. So PLEASE do write about it and post in that section. Many people are not aware of this.
  18. Let me know how it works!! :silly:
  19. Joe, I think you have quite the waiting list. Put me on it as well!
  20. Wow! That's a great tip. I say, we should all try it........say at 12 noon next Sunday?! B) :blink:

    Palm nuts.

    I try to use it, but Talon hates it, so I have to use it sparingly. It is very good for their feathers, keeps them healthy and shiny too! :cheer:
