2. Oh Mark! Isn't that the best feeling for both of you? Talon will do that all the time. When she flies to come find us, all you have to do is out your hand up and she will land on it. If we don't put our hand up, she will land on your shoulder. That's fun too! But wait until she lands on top of your head...OUCH! those claws!!!!:evil: Now that KIP has done that, she'll be more confident each time and do it always!! I'm very happy, it is sooo cool when they do that! B)
3. Joe, these are great play stands. You do excellent work! Maybe you should hire Judy as your secretary, and start taking orders! :whistle:

8. Well after your edit, yes you did. (I have your original in my blackberry.) Perhaps next time, one should take a step back and not jump to conclusions without all the information.
9. danmcq wrote: Dan, Rambo started 3 threads each with the same topic and question. I deleted the First one that had NO replies, and the Second one had 1 reply from Joe. I copied it and pm'd it to him asking him to cut & paste it into the Third thread with the other replies. I then deleted the Second thread out. If you would like to see the pm I sent Joe, I'd be happy to pm it too you. You should know me better, I don't censor, remove, or delete with out a pm notification. The only exception would be if it has offensive and abusive innuendo's. As Admin, I make no apology for deleting under those cicumstances.
10. Wow! FairY, thank you for sharing that link with us. It is emotionally overwhelming to see all those families and what they have lost forever. My heart breaks for them, but I take comfort in the fact that they have this rememberence to share with the world. They will never be forgotten.
11. Thank you! Karma for you.... :P
12. WOW! Tracy. You must be so proud. I know I would be. A very handsome young man as well! Congratulations!!{Communicate-00020110}
13. I don't think anyone here is qualified to say exactly what Alex's life was like. The amount of time spent on him with his training and his interaction with Dr. Irene Pepperburg and her staff that cared for him. But one thing we do know, is this, he was very much loved and admired by them and the entire Grey World. Yes, I have read many articles and seen many videos about Alex. Some do say he was trained for about 8 hours per day. I do think that is extreme. I have a hard time believing that was accurate. That kind of training does take a toll on them, and they really, like a child, don't have the attention span for it. In his most recent video with Alan Alda, and Dr. Pepperburg, he to me, did look very tired and weary. But that could just be his look, and the time of day. Many factors to consider in his busy life. We all have different opinions, but that's ALL they are, opinions, not facts.

ALEX MEMORIAL

Makena, Thank you for sharing that link with us. Every time I see a new article written about Alex, I learn something new about his personality. It is amazing that even after his death, he is still teaching us things. I have learned that every bird that has passed on, seems to leave a legacy of some type. Unfortunately the magnitude of their existence we tend to only see after their death.
16. Tricky, great pictures! Tracy, I love your family photo! It's nice to put a face to you now. Here's my family........this is the best they will do for me! :kiss: :cheer: B) :silly: B) :pinch: :blink

Post edited by: Talon, at: 2007/09/13 02:55

Beccy, She sounds adorable. I can't advise you whether it is right for you to get her or not. I only have Talon, and my 2 sons have just gotten 2 parakeets. I know I wouldn't have the time to give the attention to 2 birds like I'd want to. But many do it and do it very well. Good luck and you do what is in your heart. You'll make the right choice, and we all here support you in your decision. Please keep us posted!
18. Hi Rhonda. I live in a drafty farmhouse built in 1831 with very little insulation. In the winter, it can get very cold . Talon sleeps upstairs in a sleep cage in my son's room. We keep a Peliton heater running in there and she sleeps in a happy hut, and prefers to be covered at night. We keep the room round 70-76 degrees through-out the year. Your bird will adapt to your house temperatures. Just be careful with cool drafts. That is the most harmful to them. I keep Talon away from the doors in the winter when they open and close. In the summer Talon does not like the heat. She will pant and drop her wings when it is hot. When she does that, I will mist her with cool water and she likes that.
19. Hi Hannah and Welcome to our family forum. You'll love it here. I look forward to seeing pictures and hearing more!

ALEX MEMORIAL

Stephanie, THANK YOU for sharing this video with us. I hope everyone here watches it. Although it made me cry, I am just amazed by the depth of Alex's understanding. Even though we all have Greys at home, and understand how intelligent they are. This video is just astonishing! Yes, PLEASE EVERYONE WATCH THIS MEMORIAL VIDEO OF ALEX.
21. It is a very sad day, for the entire country. A day whose effects will never leave us. A day that will always be remembered. We are forever changed as Americans. God Bless those who fought so hard to rescue human lives. God Bless those who died innocently that fateful day. May God bring comfort and love to those families that suffered from such a tragedy. And may God watch over all Americans and bring Peace to us all.
22. I am pleased to announce the birth of this beautiful baby girl on behalf of the owner of greyforums.net. She is the most precious gift one could ever receive. I know she is cherished and loved beyond belief. What a gorgeous sweet little girl! Congratulations and Best Wishes!
