  1. Not to be disrespectful or anything to anyone, but I am just wondering, as we see this kind of thread all too often here.......Don't people that get a grey, stop and think that someday, they may be adding to their families, and then do the what-if-test before they bring home a bird and it bonds to them.
  2. Goralka08 I did talk to my vet, there will be no anesthesia. Just a quick snip snip while she will be toweled.
  3. I agree with the others. You don't get rid of one child just because you have another time consuming one coming. You made that commitment with your grey, and they really are like your child. Please re-think, don't give up so easily, and take your time. You may find that it won't be as difficult as you imagine. After all, you have never been a parent to a "human" baby, so you don't really know first hand what you are able to handle or not handle. Don't let others (family, friends) who aren't in your shoes, dictate what you should do with your grey. Wait until your child is here, give it plenty of time, and you might just be surprised to see that it really won't be so difficult after all. B)
  4. Those are wonderful pictures. I am glas they seem to get along now. B)
  5. Guess What everyone? I just got back from Target store, and they were all sold out of Lego's..who would have thought?
  6. HOORAY!!! :woohoo: I just talked to my vet, and scheduled a well check up for Rikki and he will remove her band. He said they will towel her and cut it off in just a few seconds! The cost for removal is $19. I will let you know how she does. She has never seen a vet since I have had her, but it's only been 5 months. I do like them to go to the vet yearly for a check up, but $$ was an issue when I first got her since I hadn't planned of acquiring another grey..:woohoo:
  7. Taking the day off, and pretty much doing nothing! WOO HOO!! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:
  8. YES!!! I was hoping there was another way. I will call my vet and see what his procedures are. I, too, am so afraid she will get it caught, and get hurt. Thank you Gryphon! Karma coming your way!!
  9. That looks like so much fun for him. Thank you for sharing this idea. I'm off to the store....B)
  10. Wow, Thank you for the informative posts Dan & Dave. I have 4 air cleaners in my house. My rooms are not completely shut off from the rest of the house, especially the bird room, but I have always found that there is less dust in my rooms, and ever since I have used this particular type, my son's asthma preventive medicine was cut in half, and he has not had any attacks. Here is the link to the ones that I have, and there is a bulb inside that needs to be changed yearly, an inside carbon filter that needs to be replaced recommended every 3 months, and an outside filter that is rinsed weekly. http://www.aircleanersforbirds.com/
  11. I'd love to see that. I never thought about lego's as a toy...
  12. {Feel-bad-0002009F} I don't want to do that.....
  13. Rikki's band is solid. I would like to have it removed, but I don't want to put her to sleep to do it.
  14. Talon was clipped for the first year of her life When her feathers grew out, and she learned how to fly, she transformed into such a happy, content bird. Her personality completely changed as she became so much happier by being able to do what she was intended to do.....fly!! I have another grey who has never had the opportunity to learn to fly. I am letting her feathers grow, I see the frustration she experiences as she wants to go somewhere, to come to me, but can't...
  15. I'm curious as to how many members have removed the foot band on their bird. And if so, how did you, when did you, and for what reasons. Rikki has a band and I am always concerned she may get it caught on something. Any advice/answers would be helpful. I would like to hear our thoughts on this.
  16. Very nice Dan. You are right, IMAGINE if we all set our minds out to make a difference in 2009, what a world it would be. B) Merry Christmas to you and our family. Thank you for taking the time to share with us on this bus day.
  17. ONE MORE NOTE......The admin here are able to research the logs and see who is decreasing karma.....we don't exercise that right unless a need arises....
  18. Getting ready to let my kids trash my kitchen going wild making xmas cookies. (a Christmas Eve/day tradition at my house). Then cleaning up the mess before xmas tomorrow! As Talon and Rikki are saying...."MERRY CHRISCHRIS, CO CO CO!" (ALL DAY LONG...
  19. WOW! I'm ordering one!! :woohoo: :woohoo: How nice! You did a great job!
  20. I DON'T KNOW WHO IS BEHAVING IN SUCH A CHILDLIKE MANNER AND 'STEALING' KARMA, BUT I THINK IT IS TIME TO STEP UP TO THE PLATE AND EXPLAIN YOURSELF. I AM VERY UPSET AT WHAT I AM WITNESSING HERE, I HAVE KNOWN SPOOKYHURST FOR OVER 3 YEARS FROM ANOTHER BIRD FORUM AND HERE AS WELL . I HAVE SEEN OVER 8000 OF HER POSTS, AND YOU WILL NEVER FIND A KINDER, MORE RESPECTED PERSON THAN SHE IS. SHE IS ALWAYS POSITIVE, NEVER JUDGMENTAL, NEVER INSULTING IN ANY WAY. SHE IS HELPFUL, SHE SHARES HER IDEAS AND ADVICE WITH US. I FEEL LUCKY TO HAVE HER HERE AS A MEMBER OF OUR FAMILY. SHE DESERVES TO BE TREATED AS SHE TREATS EVERYONE HERE. JUST BECAUSE SHE CLIPPED HER BIRDS WINGS FOR IT'S OWN SAFETY AND HARMONY OF HER HOME, JUDGING HER? HAVE YOU EVEN WALKED IN HER SHOES FOR A MINUTE WITH ANY THOUGHT AS TO HOW HARD A DECISION THAT WAS FOR HER? I KNOW HOW HARD THAT DECISION WAS FOR HER, AND IF YOU EVEN BOTHERED TO READ HER PAST POSTS, YOU WOULD LEARN HOW DEEPLY SHE FELT THAT NIKKO BE ALLOWED FREE FLIGHT IN HER HOME. IT IS NOT ANYONE'S PLACE TO PASS JUDGMENT ON HER, YOU DON'T REALLY KNOW HER CIRCUMSTANCES, NOR DO YOU DESERVE TO. SHE SHOULDN'T HAVE TO EXPLAIN HERSELF TO US. AS FAR AS SHANLUNG LOSING KARMA? I HAVE NEVER MET A MORE GIVING MEMBER. HE COMES HERE WITH HIS PROVEN WAYS, HIS WEALTH OF EXPERIENCE, AND SHARES IT WITH US FOR FREE. DOESN'T 'SELL' HIS KNOWLEDGE. HE VERY WELL COULD BE GREEDY LIKE OTHERS, AND SELL HIS TECHNIQUES, BUT HE CHOOSES TO SHARE WITH THE BIRD WORLD. WHAT A GIVING MAN. BOTH THESE MEMBERS DESERVE OUR RESPECT, KARMA, AND POSTS ARE THE ONLY WAY TO DO THAT. SO WHO EVER IS TAKING KARMA AWAY, SPEAK UP AND SHARE YOU REASONS, WE WILL LISTEN, DON'T HIDE BEHIND A THUMBS DOWN.... SINCERELY, TALON/ADMIN
  21. I do...I'll send you an email.
