1. Happy Bird Day Yoshi!! Hope you got lots of toys!!
2. Having an ex-race horse and a friend who was a jockey, my heart breaks for those horses. I have real insight into how they are raised, trained, treated. I won't watch ANY horse races.
3. These are sooooo cool! I think I could do it too. Have to find small hoops tho...Dollar Store, here I come!:woohoo:
4. Hi everyone, sorry I haven't kept up with posting, but been very busy with behind the scenes work. I have been lurking many times through out the day tho. I am so excited! Nilah FINALLY said the phrase I have been trying to teach her. "I want to go to STARBUCKS!!" She has been saying it all afternoon and evening to my youngest son. She also yells, "STARBUCKS" over and over again. Here are some of what she says also: "Do you want to go to bed?" "Time for nite nites" "Step up, step up, step up......GOOD girl Nilah!" "Rikki, NO!!!! BAD! bad! BAD! "TALON.....TALON......Where are you?" "Want a cup of coffee?" (coffee with a NY accent) "Matthew!!!! then she says, "WHAT?" then, "what r you doing" "FIRE FIRE FIRE, WOO WOO WOO!" "Hi birds" "I love you bye" "Peek a bird" "Peek a boo" "Happy bird" "Hi Nilah" "Are you okay?" "Good morning birds" "Cody!! GIT!! (my dog Cody who she also barks like) When I put her in her cage and cover her at night, she quietly says," "Nigh nites" over and over like I say to her. Now I am trying to teach her to say, "I love you" after the nigh nites. She still calls me "Bird" she yells for me and when I answer, she says" What r you doing?" When she calls me, "Bird? I come in the room and she says with relief in her voice, "Hi Bird.." Okay, enough bragging.... Oh and BTW, Nilah will be 1 year old on this Sunday,April 11!

Post edited by: Talon, at: 2010/04/08 03:33
5. Yes, it has been quiet. I have been lurking several times a day. Been working at the new site as it's being built. It certainly will look different . Not as nice as this, but there is much more control and is sure to keep the hackers out!!
6. That is the coolest thing ever!!!!!! It would keep my birds out of the room I didn't want them in! Was it hard to make?
7. You can do a member search for Carl and then send an email if you like. Just click on members at the top and type carl into the search bar....
8. WELL SAID DAN & JAYD!!! Thank you for standing up. taking the high road and showing respect and support for Rudysmom. What SOME people should try and remember.....is that many of us are posting late at night after a long day, or as in MY case, MANY times I post from my BlackBerry where it is hard to see all that you have written, never mind, SPELLCHECK!!!! :pinch:
9. Awww. Thanks for the kind words Jayd, you are right, without the others and the new members here, there would be no "Family" to support our efforts. A fixture??? I LOVE IT!!!!!! :woohoo: :woohoo: THIS IS FOR YOU JAYD: {Love-000200BF} :woohoo: :woohoo:
10. WOW! Hey, I posted here....does that count??????? In fact, I built the room, it was Jayd who did the interior design.....:lol: :lol: {Feel-good-0002006E}
11. Jayd is right. It doesn't matter what type of bird you get, they may or may not get along....BUT they will tolerate each other and it will take time. I have a timneh 4 1/2 years old, a congo, 4 1/2 yrs old ,and amazon 1 yr old, and 2 parakeets. The 3 larger birds are all girls and I like it that way. I don't have to deal with a male bird and 2 females. I think this will help as they get older. Do they get along? Yes, but it took time for the congo, she got down right angry for the first 2-3 months, now she is very happy, settled and tolerates the newcomer. Do they get along well enough to play and preen? NO on the preening, but the 2 greys will play chase and tag by flying and yelling while they chase each other as they fly thru the house. ( what fun to watch) My amazon and timneh will sit on the same perch as long as their is no less than 12 inches between them... But to answer your question, whether they will get along and tolerate each other depends on you, your attitude with them, the attention they each receive, ( my 3 are all out at the same time, I make it a point to always acknowledge them by name when I talk to them as I come and go throughout the day) and whether or not YOU have the time for them. As you know they are a lot of work. I am sure you will make the right decision when the time is right, but as Jill says, they get harder as they enter their teens...:pinch:
12. Dear Spock & Issac, We wonder if you know how much you make our mum smile and giggle when she comes here daily to read this thread. :cheer: :cheer: She tries to tell us what you write, but of course we already know cause we sneak peeks on her laptop when she's not downstairs watching us. :silly: We even know her password as she types it in when we are perched over her shoulder on the couch. We agree with you guys, trying to figure these parronts out is impossible!! What goes on in those heads of theirs??? What ever it is, I know she says that you guys think and act just like us....how could that be....we don't even know each other!!! Oops, gotta go, she's coming!!!!!! :pinch: Talon, Rikki, Nilah

Post edited by: Talon, at: 2010/03/27 03:26

14. What a brave soldier you've raised. You and Maggie should be proud!! I am so sorry for his injuries...I hope all turns out well from his surgery. Tell him THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for protecting and fighting for his country. My thoughts and prayers are with him for a speedy and full recovery.
15. WOW!! You did a wonderful job. Was it hard? I'd love to make one....:cheer:
16. Hi Jill, Just have to chime in here. I went thru the same thing with Talon last year. She was always so good about going into her play cage when I had to leave for work. Then one day...she said, NOPE! and off she flew. I too would spend 15-20 minutes trying to get her into her cage. She did as Harvey did. I tried everything, I would get so frustrated and mad at her... BUt then I quickly reminded myself, she's only a bird, don't reinforce this behavior, she doesn't really think like I do. We have a large opening in the room, and 2 french doors on the other end. I would close the doors, and I would have to hang a sheet with thumbtacks over the other opening to keep her in the room. Well, all she did is fly around the room. Once I calmed down, I would get a NEW treat, and get her to step up. I would talk to her about something in her cage and I would move gently, but fast.. Just trying to occupy her mind so she wouldn't think to fly off. This behavior went on for 2-3 months. then POOF! it was gone! I had to keep telling myself it was just a stage...it will pass...and it did! Hang in there. Just make sure that you haven't made any changes in his cage that he may be frightened of. Best of luck to you! B)
17. Thanks crossfit. I will call too, but won't be able to until later in the week.
18. They do have a policy for exotic pets.......you have o call to get a quote.
19. That's a good point you make. However, I have 3 VERY needy parrots...needy in they'd prefer TOYS to health insurance.... Just not sure I could put enough away for them vs health ins. I really need to research this more. Thanks for the good idea, it's worth pondering........
20. Having 5 birds, I am looking into insurance. I would like well bird coverage as well as accident/illness. Does anyone here in the US know if the prices VPI have are per bird vs. one price for how ever many birds you have?
21. That's so cute! All my 3 LOVE their chicken bones!! Thanks for sharing these pics with us.
22. Sounds like Isaac is doing great!
