  2. I don't know about the guy, I just hate getting junk mail...then the company shares your info and they share it, then before you know it your computers got a bug.
  3. Hawaiisheila...i agree with FairY. Ask the vet. does he make the noise anyother time? is it kind of a gurgling baby babble?
  4. i'm taking her to the vets tomorrow and i'll ask about banding...thats a good idea
  5. Yes. even in the way they act...talk etc. i've even checked the tail feathers, no spots no darkened area's that are different...ugh...
  6. yes i sure will....she's still doing it but on a few scattered occasions, i've seen the other CAG doing this as well.
  7. Izzy is going to the vets Saturday, but I'd like to know if anyones grey, shakes its head and makes whispy noises? like she's got to sneeze...any ideas?
  8. thanks FairY...this is a great site for info and to discuss our babies...
  9. sounds like the previous owners, might have hurt him physically and/or mentally. He's beautiful. Patience, Love and Understanding....Sounds like he's getting exactly what he needs from you. it's great to hear the progress that your making w/ him...Good luck and keep up the good work!
  10. They are my babies...pets...they are housed together in a huge cage...where they have swings, perches, play toys, foraging toys..etc... they seem very happy but everytime they are on the playgym (which is on top of the lower level of the cage, they chase eachother around and nip at eachothers toes...neither of them seems like it hurts or i would remove them, but i'm afraid it will turn into a brawl.
  11. I'd like to know if anyone has two african greys that are around the same age or same age...HOW DO YOU TELL THEM APART???? Gabby and Izzy were clutch mates, and they look exactly alike.....my husband suggested painting someones toenails, that did not sound safe especially with the fumes and chemicals. any suggestions?
  12. My four month old african grey's are biting eachothers toes and chasing eachother. It seems as if they are playing but I'm afraid that someone is going to get hurt. How do I stop this? Or should I?
  13. Gee..I guess if anyone that had to work didn't own an animal, wether it be a bird, cat or dog, we be very lonely as human beings. I work 7-330, M-F, and my animals are very happy. I get up around 5am and feed play and socialize with everyone...come home and socialize, feed the brood and eat dinner while they eat. Then we get the birds out again and play until bed time at 9 or 10. Then it's bedtime and I cover the cage.
  14. wont be long now...he'll absolutely love it.
  15. well, forget bonding, Sammie's got another new sister...and flew over to her and bit her on the tail feather, well she screached and glided and he landed on my head laughing...his little "ah ha ha ha ha" laugh.
  16. try lowering the perch so at least he's safe
  17. Congrats Monique and to Isaac also....thats wonderful!
  18. i heard weaning is very difficult to do...have you done this before? good luck, I'd contact a vet also...
  19. OMG!!! They are GREAT! I was so scared about bringing her home. We renamed her Izzy, and she and her sister Gabby immediately started babbling to eachother. Izzy was a little nippy when I tried to get her out of the cage, or for the matter even when I tried to pet her..probably scared...new place, new people...etc...but she has since started babbling to us, and will run to the door with her sister when it's time to come out. It's great. I have some issues with them nipping at eachothers toes, but that's another issue.
  20. I have heard of this also, flying into a window or accidently hitting its wing on something and breaking it....no a pleasant idea either way. we've got a vet appt. tonight....wing trim and nail clipping...sorry charlie but no escapees are aloud. also Sam our sun conure is flying over and "pushing" our new african grey...and if i try to hold cag sam flies into my head and screeches. sorry but I think clipping is essential
  21. :woohoo: Well, the breeder emailed me and offered me Gabby's sister, of course I could not say "no" that word didn't cross my mind, but now I find myself scared to death of what I'm getting myself into...How in the world did I find myself with not one but three birds in less than a year....I am so excited, does anyone have two or more birds? how do you do it? I'm scared about not having enough time to spend with each bird...please help.
  22. I've got two cats and two dogs that have access to the house, so they're making noise etc...I cover them and so far Gabby's doing well with it...two black sheets, and a big quilt...
  23. I agree also....where we are located they're are not any avain vets, I found a "vet" that said he deals with birds...and made the mistake of taking Sammie to him, after the vet got upset with Sammie when Sammie took a nip at him, the vet tried to pick him up by the nape of the neck...needless to say...we are now driving an hour plus, to go to a avian vet.... Some vets know birds and some just say they do....GET A SECOND OPINION, and make sure they are avian vets.
