  1. Love hummingbirds. I've been checking the tracking maps to see when they'll get here. We put out the feeders this last weekend and still awaiting our first arrivals. Map shows they've already been reported in the area as of the 23/24th. Can't wait to see them at our windows again.
  2. Cute little maroon rump coming in there.
  3. I feel 150 grams worth of your pain. Our Toby (Caique) was in the most foul mood ever. He went from being a sweet, malleable, fun-loving little cuddle bug to a hardened cranky-pants who didn't mind shedding blood (yours, not his) at every opportunity. Then one day the switch flipped back and we have our Toby back. Both transitions literally happened overnight and the whole ordeal went on for a couple months.
  4. We need to start a club. Admission criteria: my Grey only says one, two or three words and is still smarter than me.
  5. If you ever get a chance to post a pic of video of the reel/line you use with Kilaya (did I spell that right?), I would love to see it. Do you fly the GCC on the long line?
  6. It gets worse. GreycieMae drops her little princess tufts and those somehow manage to run from me when I'm chasing them with a broom. She doesn't even have to be in the room, they have a mind of their own.
  7. Sad to hear. My mother gets real attached to her pups. So hard to see them go.
  8. Best not to let them get used to playing with it. Leads to chewing on it and they will severe it. Once it's on, go do something with them so they are redirected. Chewing on the harness habit is hard to break.
  9. Well, since my name was edited and lumped back into the overreaction accusation I'll respond: I realize Jayd cared about the birds and so does Dave as most of us do. Both indicate they don't give a damn about what people think about their posts. Fine with me. I can be a complete prick too which is my natural state (seems to be common in males). If I acted the same way here that I do on a couple testosterone laden boards I frequent, I'd be in the same place as Jayd 'banned'. I forced myself to tone it down here because it's about the Greys and I noticed there are more sensitive types than what I'm used to or care for. I just stated the facts, you ran off what I considered a good member who had a softer gentler side, there are several of those here whom I've learned to respect just because we share a very common love of Greys. Otherwise, I couldn't give a damn either.
  10. Tough crowd. Almost like Jayd reincarnated. Y'all don't have too many members to run off. Forums are dying off all over the place thanks to places like FB etc... Think about it.
  11. You've had a much better experience than most. It's very typical for the first few times to not go well at all. The key is constistency. Do it daily and it'll be second nature before you know it.
  12. I've heard about it in poultry: pointy egg (males) vs. rounded egg (female). Complete wives tale with no scientific basis. And where does that term come from anyway? (Old Wives Tale).
  13. It looks like someone is a good little eater.
  14. Mine will pop the keys if I do not take the appropriate anti-virus countermeasures (tickle-tickles work best). So far I have not lost a key. However, my wife's laptop has been struck by the St. Patricks lil green gobblin version of this virus and has 10-15 keys missing in various spots.
  15. Bluedawg, you appear to have a nearly identical strain to the one I have. Right down to the very talented 'hang from my toenails and do my best yoga twist'. I was also eyeball'ing that cargo net. Looks like something I need for my aviary now that we've moved back in during the warm days. Looked at the price - I believe I'll be making one. whoaaa....
  16. The only way I've done it is to use the option to add an image from a URL and uncheck the box to 'reference locally'.
  17. Mornings around here are a lot of shrieking and terrordactly bombing runs. Can be very scary to the uninitiated as I've had visitors here when the birds do this and the guests grit their teeth and hunker down. They don't realize how harmless it is with birds flying and shrieking all over the place.
  18. Greycie chews through hers on a regular basis. I have another one on order and am contemplating creating some leather sheaths to sew over the problem areas.
  19. I'm the stubbornest one in the house. We'd be making trips in and out of that bathroom until it's understood that's how it's going to be. As long as I'm busting my arse cooking and cleaning and making great fun time for them, I expect a little in return and I'll get it one way or another. We had a situation yesterday where a certain someone didn't want to wear their harness. It's been a long winter and we're out of practice. The nasty hard bites and the rolling upside down and pretending to play dead started so off we went for a 2-3 hour march through Home Depot and Lowes. Everybirdy was just fine once we returned. Townie rides in the harness are on the schedule for this evening since we seem to be having issues wearing our harness now.
  20. That's exactly what I want to do with Greycie. We have a park in the area that has nothing for acres and acres that would be safe to fly her. Are you using the Aviator Flight Line lead to get that much length?
  21. I'm always in Greycie's personal space and I have a few scars to show it. The worst one was when she struck me and ripped a nice straight line from the side of my nostril all the way down to my lip. Sometimes their displeasure with you being in their face is impossible for us to read before it's too late. Other times she pulls at my ear or the side of my cheek to get me in her personal space. Kind of like having a second wife - I have no idea what the hell is in that head of hers.
  22. Gawd stories like this make me jealous. I have a mute bird. None of our birds talk. I wonder if it's us? We baby talk them and probably way too much.
  23. Just wondering what type of cuddling you were doing? I have a cuddler or more appropriately a rough-houser. She's not much for 'stroking' although petting her on the oil gland will get her preening in high gear. She's more the type that will climb up on me and throw her head back which is my queue to try and tickle her and see if I can get away without a bite. She's playing but she does bite hard at that point. She also likes to hang off the front of the monitor and expects me to grab her under the wings and bounce her through the air while she throws her head back. Also turn her upside down and 'shake the change' out of her pockets. Anything similar to that? Not sure what I would do if we couldn't have play time any longer. This thread has me worried now...
