Mine roam free in their bird room when the weather is not good enough for outdoor aviary. I do have to lock up mister thug pants Toby (Caique) when he gets in a mood to chase everybirdy around and show them who's boss bird. I change their configuration around a lot so they don't get bored with the same toys/ropes/orbits/swings/ etc. The cages are their sleeping cages but they will put themselves in a cage (not necessarily their own) during nappy time. Here's a shot of our bird room with garage floor paint to make it easy to clean (no birds - they're in the aviary):

You found the right place for Grey addicts. Tiels are sweet birds.

If she turns out to be a wild thing like GreycieMae, she'll like plastic chains with bells. I found that hanging the toys from the roof above the solid playstand/cage/etc works best. Greycie's favorite toy is a plastic chain with bell near the top and one off the end of the chain. She gets going wild on that thing sometimes.

Just like kids! (aka The "joys" of a mixed flock)

I hear you! GreycieMae likes to go along the counter and slam plates, push anything over the edge and 'angrily' shakes plastic lids. Our Jardines has now picked up the exact same behavior. It's as if she taught him how to be a counter top thug. GreycieMae has picked up the 'Angry Caique' from Toby. Hard to describe unless you've had a Caique before. -
All we hauled home was a new hanging rope toy and a TON of the soak, sprout and serve food that we like. However, I just had to post this video of the cutest little parrotlets we saw. We had a parrotlet at one time and she moved with my daughter. They are little Amazons if you've never had one... This toy has been fought over all weekend. Can't believe how much they all like it:

We nearly went bonkers waiting for it to warm up enough here to throw 'em out in the aviary. They've been out there for about three weeks now. Nothing like tired sleepy birds when I get home instead of the back alley thugs with pent up energy I normally come home to.

Time for a Grey backpack! Not sure I could leave my birdy behind on walks if I knew that was going on. You could even rig up a baby walker to stroll it in.

Don't forget babysitting

How old is the baby now? Hard to believe she'll be ready in less than a month!

Go to Big Lots and get their cheap table covers. Put it on the floor underneath to capture the mess. We ditched all of our floor standing perches in favor of hanging perches - makes it easy to clean. However I still have to chase those floofies all over the house with the wet/dry vac.

That cage you just listed would be a royal pain to use as a travel cage. The one I listed, we used them before we had our aviary to let the birds sit out in the sun. I locked the door shut with clips as I didn't trust them not to open it somehow. You definitely want something light to travel with. This is another option. There's always the gold standard -(ho)&ref=DF4rcI_udU6GfakKSQwtHg&kpid=ATT1214_Bronze/Sil"]$$$Kings Travel cage$$$

We use these. We bought three (we have three birds) and use them as feeding cages. I got real tired of the damn mess all over the house so now feeding time is IN THE CAGE. That's for when they are out with us in the general living areas and eating. We've got them to where they just go in on their own and eat, I don't have to close the cage doors any longer unless they start fighting over each other's food. In their bird room or the aviary they're free to slop the hogs all day long. I suppose one of those cages would work real well as a sleeping cage. We bought the larger ones and wish we would have bought the smaller. Large is too big really to pack around a lot.

My GreycieMae learned how to give kisses thanks to our Caique. Did Wilbur ever go on the truck with you?
-
Your story reminds of a video that's been floating around lately: They remind me of little piglets. Cute little things. Sounds like fate smiled on your little Tarkus when you found him.
-
I remember Wilbur. Great to hear from you again and love seeing his pics.
-
She's a cutie-pie. Watch those peanuts. There's a post, maybe a sticky, somewhere here by Dave or Ray or someone about how to make them safe by baking them in an oven. Don't want to give your little one aspergillosis.

GreycieMae says "tickle tickle tickle" in the sweetest voice ever. And occasionally she'll giggle after she says it. In the past I would tell her "stick em up" with my pistoleros pointing into her wing pits, she raises her wings way back and I "tickle tickle tickle" her tummy and would giggle. That's where she got it.

It is Spring for Nilah...again....:(

I guess that's the difference between girls and boys. Toby was super pissed off for a long time. I hang out on a Caique group and saw a post from someone showing their Caique getting it on with a hanging toy. Kind of sad really. Someone else replied they got their little guy a girlfriend and they get it on daily. We are considering... -
Love hummingbirds. I've been checking the tracking maps to see when they'll get here. We put out the feeders this last weekend and still awaiting our first arrivals. Map shows they've already been reported in the area as of the 23/24th. Can't wait to see them at our windows again.

Cute little maroon rump coming in there.

I feel 150 grams worth of your pain. Our Toby (Caique) was in the most foul mood ever. He went from being a sweet, malleable, fun-loving little cuddle bug to a hardened cranky-pants who didn't mind shedding blood (yours, not his) at every opportunity. Then one day the switch flipped back and we have our Toby back. Both transitions literally happened overnight and the whole ordeal went on for a couple months. -
We need to start a club. Admission criteria: my Grey only says one, two or three words and is still smarter than me.
-
If you ever get a chance to post a pic of video of the reel/line you use with Kilaya (did I spell that right?), I would love to see it. Do you fly the GCC on the long line?
-
It gets worse. GreycieMae drops her little princess tufts and those somehow manage to run from me when I'm chasing them with a broom. She doesn't even have to be in the room, they have a mind of their own.
-
Sad to hear. My mother gets real attached to her pups. So hard to see them go.
