  1. You may have misread what I posted. There's no need to take the punctures. Just use a simple fingernail file and barely rub off the sharp points. No need to get a nail trimmer and take anything more. A couple of passes with a nail file will make the nails tolerable to handle her and won't affect her balance any.
  2. I would not 'trim' their nails as a baby like your breeder mentioned (if I read that right). Even in adult birds trimming, depending on how much of the nail is taken, can result in a little off balance which is easily overcome when they're older. If you can just barely file the points off to where they don't hurt that would be best until baby is a little older and more sure of themselves.
  3. Looks like she's having real trouble fitting in and getting comfy - HHAAAAHHAAAAHHAA. Your training now begins! Prepare for the African Grey mind meld. She will have you at her beck and call in no time.
  4. Welcome to cousin Zoe! If I wasn't spending most of my time underneath vehicles I'd have to come see her.
  5. I don't think you have anything to worry about with the tent. She's too young and will be for a while. Out of three birds, only one of ours took to having a tent. The other two tents were a waste as I could never get the two birds to use them. Greycie wanted to perch on the side of her food dish of all things. I saw she was getting a small spot on both her feet so I removed those and forced her onto something that looked more comfy - at least it didn't make my feet hurt just thinking about her sitting on it all night. No idea on the clorox wipes?!?
  6. Maybe all you needed was a 'No Soliciting' sign?
  7. I overheard my wife the other day telling GreycieMae - "Momma has really fallen for you lil girl...I love you <smooches> <smooches>..." KEEPER!!! The birds were my idea and a part of my past life before the wife so I'm glad she's fallen for them. GreycieMae bit the $%#& out of me this morning: Toby was too close for comfort next to her chosen one.
  8. Sheesh! Talk about lucky. I had an incident a couple weeks back where I stepped out of the aviary to get a dish, left the doors (aviary AND saftey cage) unlatched, and then got distracted and went to work. By the time I was 3/4 of the way to work I realized what I had done and that my aviary was probably wide open by 'now'. Wife wouldn't pick up so I got to the office and emailed and FB messaged her trying to get contact. Finally decided to head home at 90mph - longest drive of my life. Got home and there they were sitting on their usual spots just preening away - doors unlatched but still closed. I don't care how dang careful you are, you're gonna slip up. I now will not leave the aviary unlatched even if I'm stepping 5 feet away with the intent to come back because I know I'll hose it up.
  9. Would love to have seen a picture of that lil fella
  10. Great videos. The Greys are so distinguished and down to business and then there's Nilah- haaahaaa.
  11. Three is all I can handle: GreycieMae - CAG - chief disciplinarian and chief trouble maker Toby - Caique - 10 feet tall and bullet proof - black belt master of Caiquey-Jiu-Jitsu Rio - Jardines - lover boy/smooth operator - professional device dismantler and keyboard key remover
  12. I listen to GreycieMae's all the time. I'm lucky to have a very tactile bird. My favorite is when I'm swinging her on her chain. That really gets her ticker going. I also like sticking my nose in that fuzzy little wing pit too and I'm always struck by how warm it feels - another one of those weird sensations of being very close to their being.
  13. Can't wait to meet little Zoe in person!!!
  14. I have a brand new lake on our back acre. You could send a few by FedEx overnight.
  15. Well, he found his way to the right place. I'm sure he'll enjoy the party.
  16. No drunken parronts were hurt in the making of this video.
  17. GreycieMae puts up with her drunken parronts...
  18. Thought this was funny... Funny they used a conure. That is so like a conure to have that sort of attitude.
  19. Whatever works. We have a Jardines that is VERY willful. When he gets hold of something he wants and knows you're coming to remove him or the thing...he will lunge and bite. Jardine bites are no playing matter (they clamp down and auger in with hydraulic beaks). I will actually use things to deal with the Jattitude, including gloves which you read all over the place is a no-no.
  20. I'd put up with a little or a lot of plucking for the affection. Nothing beats Grey affection.... Greycie's morning kisses (sounds very similar to what Isaac does)
  21. Good for Dorian. Now he just needs to convince you to build him a nice giant aviary.
  22. I absolutely love how they lift their little foot for us. Very adorable.
  23. Good for Lucy. Sounds like she is fitting in with you quite well.
