  1. I'm not sure who is uglier, him or my baby pigeons. Amazing how they can become so cute though. Here's a short video I got a couple days ago just to show how ugly they are:
  2. I see you parronts posting accusations like this all the time. It's very clear to me that Echo has trapped whomever tore up your keyboard underneath that thingy there. Poor girl just needed some help catching the perp!
  3. Sweet story. I hate to hear how they were treated, there are probably so many birds going through that hell. Got any pictures of the three of them?
  4. I get a Jeckyll & Hyde occasionally. GreycieMae gets that look on her face "Who the hell are you and why are you touching me....?" Then at night after we put the littles to bed she's as sweet as can be.
  5. Did Talon start showing you preferential treatment or did it just kind of stay the same?
  6. Facebook private group. Beware though, you'll see some aviarys on there that will make you drool uncontrollably.
  7. Hear you on the Harrisons. I instituted a ban on Harrisons after the previous bag ran out. It was worse than government waste, fraud and abuse: wife was putting Harrisons in outside containers to get pooped on, mixing it with wet food so it had to get tossed daily and Rio was somehow able to make the pile of Harrisons below his food bowl larger than the pile I had placed in his bowl?!? A few F-bombs and threats and we have compromised on trying a new system: I researched and finally bought theCaitec Seed Corral. We're in the testing phase but WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!!. So far Rio has only managed to waste just a few of the pellets as we buy the 'Fine' size so they don't ricochet all around the inside of the feeder as he cracks them. GreycieMae fits in it nicely but she's about the largest size bird I would use that on. It's also a little too big for Rio and especially our 10 ft tall & bullet proof Caique. I wish they made a medium size unit. Their small is budgie sized which would probably work for Toby if he could fit his ego in it. If you look at the photo in the link, notice it's a photo shop job. Same bird, same image only mirrored. It's almost twice as big as the photo seems to indicate. They should have used a big fat Grey like my piggy, she can get all the way inside that thing.
  8. Your clever use of a homophone is allowed since the CAG is commonly referred to as a house chicken and can therefore loosely fit into the order of Galliforme.
  9. They like it because it has sugar in it - 5th listed ingredient. Mine like it too! They also like red wine, coffee, beer, tacos, nachos...I'm a horrible parront. No I'm not, they force me to give them those things. I'm powerless.
  10. Hi Marwan - do you have access to fruits/veggies at all? There's a sticky in this forum that gives a short list of some things you could try to feed by cutting/chopping. These guys really do super good on a fresh food diet. Zupreem and most pellets with a few exceptions are nothing but ground corn with some other ingredients mixed in. I call it dog food for parrots. We do feed some of these types of pellets but it's only after I've offered a nice fresh food meal or for times when they have to be locked up for a while. Can you get Harrisons? That's a really good pellet for Greys but they need to be active birds as it's really dense nutritionally. Also, feed seeds sparingly. We use them for treats only around here and I have very active birds that spend part of their day being rowdy in an outdoor aviary.
  11. That's definitely play fighting. Signs of a very content little CAG. You're doing excellent with that little one.
  12. On Home Aviary Design, there are a couple members that grow grapes over the top of their aviarys for the birds to snack on, leaves, vine and fruit.
  13. He better grow those tail feathers. Nothing beats that cute CAG red tail wag.
  14. Jeez...who needs kids. That guy was acting exactly like a two year old that needs a spanking.
  15. My opinon only but I believe it's because they've picked who they want to be their only one and that's usually a human in the case of a captive Grey. In our case GreycieMae definitely prefers me but also interacts with my wife but will get shitty with her sometimes and territorial over me. Our Caique is the same way - prefers my wife and gets nasty with me but on occasion I am allowed to have fun with him.
  16. Pak-o-bird makes specialty carriers for the different species. I secure the fold-n-go with a spring link/snap hook. Back before we had our outdoor aviary and they went outside in these cages for some fresh air, I didn't trust anything but a quick link. However our little Jardines can defeat those too. He knows how to unscrew them if they are loose enough to twist.
  17. We have the Petco mink brown cage. It's a decent cage, hard to put together also too big to get out of our house without taking bird room door off. Otherwise it's sufficient. We also have the fold and go travel cage. Beware you will need to double secure the door. GreycieMae has learned to open it. The soft side - you need to make sure a Grey can't tear that one open. I know with another brand (cant' think of it right now) they make a Grey specific carrier because of their characteristics. I'm actually getting two of those soft sided carriers to transport the bad birds to the aviary. Using the travel cages is a pain and the trip is short.
  18. Our little Raven's bush is coming back in full force again this year. It will be the third time it will bloom. I still miss her and get teary thinking about her. I still use her little photo as my avatar on my phone and email. Such a sweety and I really miss her. These birdys are so hard to lose...
  19. My only concern is you leave her out in an outdoor cage all day during the day. Sounds like a recipe for disaster but your situation and setup may be different than ours. Do you have hawks or those two legged bastards that run around looking for trouble. I won't leave mine unattended as we have neighbors that can see them and they have people over all the time. I fully expect some day they may try and take a pot shot with a pellet gun (you know how pot smoking teenagers are) and that's when 9mm rounds are going down range - but this is Texas. Florida may be different.
  20. 467 grams at this current weigh in. She can get as heavy as 490. When we first got her she was 435-450. Someone's turned into a little piggy. Sorry for the wrong-orientation. New phone and I wasn't paying attention when I shot it.
  21. Thanks for bumping. The OP is before my time here and I've never seen it. Definitely something I would like to try. We do sprouts here but always looking for something to mix things up. I didn't know about the issue with lima beans. We take frozen lima beans and microwave or just let them thaw. Plus I eat them almost daily for lunch. I think they're pre-cooked though.
  22. Our aviary has 1"x2" wire and our Caique can't get his head through that much less our 480 gram flying fatty.
