  1. I've studied the photos and have come to the professional conclusion that little Miss Talon caught whomever did that nefarious act and has punished them appropriately.
  2. I'll start off with the name suggestions: Penelope. Sometimes I wish I would have used that name. GreycieMae is such a rotten princess sometimes it would have fit perfect. I'm sure we would have ended up calling her Princess Penelope.
  3. Well, that looks and sounds like African Grey 'parottese' to me. Get Dave to translate that for you - haa haa. That's not the stress shriek I was referring to and you would hate it - it drives us bonkers. It makes perfect sense you started hearing that when you brought another of his own kind into his proximity. Just from your two short videos there you look to have two fine friends in the making.
  4. IMO - you have the perfect situation going on there. Two Greys and they don't look to be aggressive at all in each other's presence although that's a very short video. Grey's DO NOT DO WELL alone!!!! From your description of the shrieking, it sounds like you are describing their stress call. Did it start when you brought the other Grey home? Our Grey started doing it when we brought our Caique home and now the damn Caique does it all the time. Our Grey has persisted with it too since it's being reinforced through the Caique. My sense is it will diminish as they start to settle in with each other. I don't think you can go wrong with two Greys that get along. They will still include you in their flock if you participate. Nothing worse than a lone bird all day long while you're at work. Post a video of the shrieking if you can.
  5. Keep posting his/her pics - I like to watch them grow. They don't don't stay babies for long.
  6. Such a pretty girl. They seem to really love the sun shining through. Mine play a lot when the morning sun is beaming through their birdyroom window in the mornings.
  7. We thought about netting in our front porch area but after what happened to Ozzy(sp?) with those teenage bastards that shot him I won't expose my birds to anyone off the road that can take a pot shot at them with a pellet gun just for something fun to do.
  8. Our direct backyard is not much bigger than the typical postage stamp backyards everywhere. Shoot, we're still toying with the idea of netting our whole backyard in for them.
  9. Our Jardines head looks like that when our Caique gets done 'grooming' him. You don't possibly have another bird do you?
  10. You all must go through a ton of paper towels. I HATE going to Costco and buying their mega-size paper towel and toilet paper bundles and they're gone in a couple of weeks. Reusable is the way for me. I'll nuke my sponges/dish cloths, which is what I've been doing for years. Wife otoh plows through enough paper products for a family of 10.
  11. Is he still laying down like that? Never moves?
  12. Here's a picture of me growing up. If you ever think I'm moving north of 37 degree lat or east of 95 long. you're crazy. Snow is for fun days and melts within 24 hrs.
  13. Sounds like you're describing their 'yawn'. Does it also look similar to choking on something? It's normal.
  14. This is just what I needed. Ammo for my argument that it's ok for the birds to be pooping in the sink.
  15. That is the funny. We have a mylar balloon protecting our ceiling fan right now.
  16. We fued over this in our house. Wife hates sponges. I like to microwave the sponges. What do you think about microwaved sponges?
  17. My guess is they talk to deal with boredom or confinement or lack of ability to get around. My Grey has to deal with none of those things and rarely talks. Mostly Grey noises and the occasional fart or kookaburra. What led me to think this was when I was building the aviary. I had her confined to her little feeding cage outdoors with me for several days and she started talking but soon quit when she didn't have to deal that any longer. We can make her talk by locking her in the birdroom by herself for an extended amount of time. I don't think she's 'bashful', I just think she's dealing with being alone and bored.
  18. Wow - what a talker. All you with talking Greys make me jealous. I have to ask, is Sully flighted and if so does he fly much? The only time Greycie will go through her tiny repertoire of mostly noises is when she is confined to a cage or her birdroom. Otherwise it's no talking just screeching or other CAG noises. My theory is the more 'confined' they are the more they'll talk. Just a hunch though.
  19. My gosh, what a mess. Who's going to clean that up? Funny what different Greys like. Greycie won't do anything with a phone book/catalogue. But give her a wooden crate and I come home to splinters all over the floor.
  20. My wife's laptop has multiple keys missing from this very virus. This is dangerous and serious business people.
  21. That pop-up looks like serious business. I don't think pistachios will remove the pop-up. Be careful, I think you're stuck with that for a while.
  22. Greycie's main repetoire: - fart - ear piercing screech - ear piercing whistle Our Jardines now farts and burps. I believe I'm the only one in our house with any manners.
  23. Yes - you have the exact same problem. Since the site admin won't do anything about this, I have resorted to offering up pistachios. This will relieve symptoms for a short while, however, you will need to vacuum your keyboard.
  24. Come see it - you're just down the road!
