  1. Sweet potato is definitely Timber's favorite in the veggie line!
  2. Haaaa! If the pic was correct, that was a timneh too. I'm not letting Timber listen, I don't want him getting any ideas about seeking fame and fortune!
  3. I saw this and thought it was something Timber might actually eat! Thought I'd share... Sweet Potato Sushi Roll Up! Wavy Lasagna Pasta - cooked al dante 1 lg cooked and mashed sweet potato 1 cup cooked brown rice well drained/air dried. 1/4 cup crushed walnut 1/4 cup cooked broccoli Florette rounds Mix sweet potato, brown rice, walnut and broccoli. Lay out wavy lasagna pasta. Spread sweet potato mix on the full length and width of the pasta and roll up. Serving size and amounts depend on your bird's taste. You can spread thin, or thick as they please. Cut "sushi rolls" into lengths to best fit your birds face and feet. Place on parchment paper on cookie sheet and bake at 250 for 10-15 minutes. The idea is to "harden off" the pasta, not cook anything. Let cool. Serve.
  4. Great pics! Not warm enough here for that yet, but I'm looking forward to it
  5. Happy to hear things are going so well for you! I was the one who wanted a bird. My husband was "neutral" for lack of a better word. Now, he is just as likely as I am to say "does that bird need anything ordered?" He spends slightly less time than I do checking Timber's droppings and general appearance, but he's catching up
  6. I don't allow Timber on my shoulder either for much the same reason. As to your questions about interaction, I have a mobile playstand so that Timber can spend time in the same room with me. He does sit on my arm at times. However, mostly they just want to be in the same area of the house that you are, where they can "see" you. Interaction also refers to talking to them and whistling back and forth. When I am with Timber I am often talking to him (even if he doesn't respond). If I am silent for too long, he will speak or whistle to get my attention. When I am doing things around his cage, like cleaning, changing bowls, whatever, I tell him what I am doing.
  7. Ouch! I have to say that even now that Timber wants routine cuddling and he hasn't bit me for sometime, I wouldn't let my face anywhere near him. My trust just doesn't extend that far!
  8. It takes Timber a long time to take interest in a new toy in his cage, sometimes months. I don't know if he is timid or just change averse, but I just let it hang there (and hang and hang) and out of the blue one day he will start messing with it. As Baileyspapa said, keep it simple at first. Timber's favorite "toy" is a plastic straw. He chases it, chews on it, scratches himself with it, etc.
  9. Welcome Rosita! Good luck and God bless
  10. LOL! They never miss a trick, or an opportunity do they?
  11. Neat pic! Quality time over quantity for those of us who work...
  12. I feel for you. Still praying that Zoey makes a full recovery.
  13. Hello and welcome! I applaud your decision not to purchase a wild-caught grey. That is an awful practice. Like Judy, I am from the states and cannot help you. If memory serves, we have some forum members in your area. Hopefully one of them will see this and offer some advice! Good luck
  14. Yes indeed. I save the cheddar for really important stuff, like getting on the scale or into the pack-o-bird!
  15. http://lafeber.com/pet-birds/psittacosis-zoonotic-diseases/ This came up on the forum recently. I thought it was a very interesting article! I wanted to share for those who are not on the mailing list.
  16. I'd say it depends on what she likes. Their tastes do vary widely. I save Timber's favorite nut/seed type thing (pine nuts in his case) for times when I want to use a reward.
  17. Hello and welcome to you and Alexandra Loved the pics, what a pretty baby
  18. Hello and welcome to you and Rohan! Glad things worked out with such a young one. Love the pics!
  19. Yes, things always have to be just "right!" Reminds me of the Felix posts from the Everythingbirds website.
  20. Thanks for letting us know. It is always a relief to hear good news from the vet
