  1. Hope you can figure out how to get a picture up, we all like to see aviaries! Most of us are looking for ideas we can make work if we don't already have one.
  2. Progress indeed! It is so satisfying to watch them come out of their "shell."
  3. Neat video! I haven't seen too many of Amazons in action. Thanks for posting
  4. Hello and welcome to you and Bella! Just leave the cage door open and Bella will come out when she is ready. As the others said, it takes time. Just be patient and give her plenty of time to settle in and get used to you and her new environment.
  5. I did not know that Ray. More than I would have thought!
  6. I'm going to give it a shot. Timber is sooooo picky!
  7. Or, maybe you are now dubbed "boo boo" rather than "Lulu"
  8. Great news about the good report on the bloodwork! That is always such a relief. They seem to be doing very well together. Keeping my fingers crossed
  9. LOL! Timber does similar sometimes but I swear he is just mocking me, and not in a nice way!
  10. LOL No, he is feeling comfortable and secure now. Let the real Peck stand up!
  11. How tragically awful for you. My heart goes out to you. I hope you are able to find answers and that you will share them when you do. Don't torment yourself with coulda, woulda shoulda's though. Like Jeff, I'm thinking of having full bloodwork done as a result of your post. I think all of us ask ourselves if we are doing enough with the diet, the vet, etc. etc. In the long run, I think the forum members do the very best they can. As several of our members can tell you, it isn't always enough. God bless!
  12. The beak looks majorly better! Timber has a "bad toe" as well. The vet said it was probably like that from birth. It doesn't affect his mobility that I can tell and doesn't seem to bother him.
  13. What beautiful birds! Happy hatchday to the "flock"
  14. Loved the pic. They do seem to appreciate anything they have to work for more than what you put out right in front of them. Timber will even eat some things that he has to forage for when he won't touch them in his bowl.
  15. Cute pic! Yes, they all think we make handy napkins.
  16. I'm clucking right along there with you... I'm chicken to do it myself as well. I finally decided I just didn't need to know that much! When it is time for bloodwork, I will ask for the gender test. Pookie is beautiful
  17. Enjoyed the article. Thanks for sharing
  18. Thanks, I'll give it a shot!
  19. The cup didn't do it for Timber but a dark blue plastic straw does. Note that it has to be dark, blue and plastic, no other straw will work. He gets almost frantic in his play with it. He will throw it to the floor, hop out of his cage and chase it all over the kitchen floor. Pretending it is a baby snake perhaps? Who knows, but he loves it! When he is finished beating the straw into submission, he climbs back on the cage with it and scratches his head with a chewed end. I've tried to video a few times but by the time I was ready he was finished. I'll try harder!
