  1. LOL Starving birdie indeed!
  2. Here's another story with a happy ending. Right at Father's Day too! http://www.kfvs12.com/story/25771046/woman-mistakes-child-in-distress-for-missing-parrott
  3. Loved the video! Sterling, I fight that same problem every day...
  4. I must confess, now that I have retired my thoughts turn more and more to an Amazon. I'll be interested to read this Ray!
  5. I can view it now. No help here, no baby experience. Someone will be along with input What a cutie though!
  6. What a beautiful baby! Love those dark eyes...
  7. 2birds, your baby will like what he likes. I'm not sure Timber has a favorite color, but I know he hates orange!
  8. This one I can see! Nice cage!
  9. The pic says private and I can't view. Congratulations on your new baby! I don't have baby experience so your question about the hole will be answered by someone with more experience. How exciting for you!
  10. What a good boy indeed! Loved the video
  11. oooooo you will be the envy of everyone on the forum!
  12. When I catch Timber trying to bathe in his water bowl, I put the pan in the bottom of the cage and he goes for it. He has to be "in the mood" to take a bath before he will use the glass baking dish. If he is in the mood, he will hop right in it.
  13. Good point about the poop check Inara. That is another reason to use newspaper. A quick glance tells you if droppings are looking OK and that is important.
  14. Sounds great! I'm glad you decided to take Rocco. Good luck and God bless
  15. So far, my most special memory is of Timber's first cuddle with me. After several weeks of struggle, bites, tears, and wondering if he would ever come to trust me, I had him in the living room on his playstand. I was ready to take him to back to the cage, and he stepped up easily (not a certainty at that point). I thought to myself "I'll just sit down in the recliner with Timber on my forearm for a minute." When I sat down, I put my forearm (with Timber on it) in my lap so he would feel stable. He looked up at me, then leaned forward with his rear in the air and went beak down on my stomach. I just scratched and scratched around his head and beak. That was our break-through moment and I'll never forget it
  16. Timber does putz around on the bottom grate of his cage quite a bit. He chases a ball around down there etc. I wouldn't want to be without a grate.
  17. What a neat video! My mother has a lot of hummingbirds around her feeders every year. I've never been able to attract any. I've never seen a baby before though!
  18. I've been away for a week or so and I'm late, but a belated Happy Hatchday to Ruby!
  19. What a lovely tribute to Cricket! Thanks Talon
  20. I've always assumed birds use their beaks like we use our fingers to "touch." Timber is always rubbing his beak on anything new, like he is checking to see what it "feels" like. He lies to walk around on the floor. Every times he gets on the floor, he sweeps the floor in front of him in a semi-circle, I always assumed that was checking for stability. He will walk to the door, the wall, the radiator, whatever, and rub his beak gently on them. He also rubs his beak on me. I would like to think it is affection, but who knows
  21. They really are scary smart. What an adventure you are going to have!
  22. What a beautiful bird and a great addition to the Sterling Ranch. So glad you found what you were looking for and Rio is a lucky bird
