  1. I am a rehomer and don't have any baby experience. I do know that they like to do the "scratch and kick" even as adults. Instinctive behavior I believe. As Inara said, someone with baby experience will be along to help!
  2. Interesting, and I had no idea!
  3. Haaaa... usually when the preacher is walking in the door!
  4. Loved all the stories and "witticisms" from the birds! Loved the pics too Dave. I was just thinking as I was reading this that they really do put things together themselves. Timber says a few things and I wonder where he got them or heard them. Now that I think about it, he may just be putting stuff together. I don't say "let's screw" for example, but I have told the kids to "don't screw around with that" and similar. Considering how they can come up with their own phrases, I'm being to see the light here. Timber says "damn bird" in a low voice and really drawls it. It's possible that he was called "damn bird" at a previous home, but maybe not. He has heard "damn" a few times I know, usually with emotion, and we are always saying "bird" this or that, so maybe he put it together himself. Interesting, and keep the stories coming! I love reading them.
  5. Hello and welcome to you and Maggie Mae! I'm glad to hear the breeder is keeping Maggie until she is old enough. Much better that way than sending home a baby who has needs you aren't experienced enough to care for properly. I know the waiting is hard, but from everything I've read here, that is the way to go. Good luck and God bless
  6. What fantastic news! I cannot imagine how ecstatic you must be. What a terrifying experience for both of you. Thank God!
  7. Hello Sharon and welcome to you and your baby! Ask any questions you have. Congratulations on your new baby Post some pics when you have a chance! We love those baby pictures...
  8. Being delusional is the first symptom Ray
  9. How exciting! Can't wait to hear about the homecoming and see some pics
  10. Hello and welcome to you and you, Smokey and Olaf. Feel free to ask any questions you have and tell us more about your life with the "boys." Post some pics when you have a chance!
  11. LOL There are times when those web cams bite....
  12. Many people on the forum work, and some work long hours. Before my retirement recently, I was gone for almost 10 hours each day, Monday through Friday. The only advice I can give is from personal experience. My grey is needy, and I think many of them are. What I mean by that is that he was fine with my being gone as long as my world revolved around him when I was home. Now that I am home more, he isn't as "needy," but still requires a lot of my time and attention. When I first got Timber, I found myself turning down social invitations and rearranging my schedule to spend more time with him and make sure he had his out-of-cage time and the attention I felt he needed. After two years, I still do that. It is a big commitment, and one you should give a lot of thought before taking on. That said, it is very rewarding!
  13. What a sweetie indeed! I'm awwing away here
  14. Hello and welcome to you and Scarlett
  15. I can see it! Nilah didn't make any bones about who was queen of the cabinet top
  16. I don't cover Timber. No particular reason, the people I got him from didn't cover him so I don't either.
  17. Nice job Jeff! There were a couple that needed an "unknown" for us rehomers. Like the one about if bird was raised by parents etc. (don't remember #) and the one about how long the bird was handfed, also the one about gender. Sadly, I still don't know for sure! It'll be interesting to look at the results!
  18. I've never known a grey that would not step up from the floor, even if they refuse from everywhere else. That is very "normal" for them. It is also normal for them to be up with the sun and to bed with sunset. Amadeus sounds like a perfecting "normal" grey to me!
  19. Hello and welcome! My bird would rather be with me, rather than without me, regardless of the circumstances. I'm sure Amadeus would be rather be traveling with his chosen one than anywhere else in the world
  20. My vet said Timber could have cooked pork or beef, as long as it was a lean cut. Others may disagree, but he loves any kind of beef. I don't give it to him daily, but I imagine that like many things, once in awhile is fine!
