  1. LOLOL That was funny Dave! We have a spider similar to your Garden spider Sterling. One of the nightmares of my childhood was running carelessly into their webs. The webs were huge and the spiders were too. I always just knew if I didn't find the spider it was lurking inside my clothes somewhere...
  2. I never knew until I got my Timber how very attached you become to them. It almost defies logic, but as someone said earlier, I think only other grey parronts can understand how hard it is to suffer such a loss. I'm so glad you have these wonderful pics and videos to remember Zoe by. God bless!
  3. How exciting! Yes, background and pics please. Love those baby pictures
  4. I can give you an opinion Lori. Many of our members take their birds with them on trips like this. If you would be able to keep the temperature regulated (i.e. A/C, heat, whatever is required) Maggie would probably be fine. If you leave her home, my experience is that Timber prefers to stay in his home environment even if he doesn't get his usual out of cage time. He is very resistant to change, and would freak out in a boarding situation I think. I left him home for a week while I was gone on business. My daughter-in-law fed and cleaned, but was not able to let him out much because she can't handle him. She would sit by his cage and talk and whistle with him while she was here. If your son is going to be around and Maggie is used to him, she would probably prefer to be home with him than being boarded and at least you would know what kind of care she was getting and that she wasn't being exposed to disease. Others with more experience may have other responses! Good luck
  5. Looking great! That reminds me of the formula we use at my house. Any time you are attempting a home project or repair of any type, make your best estimate of the time it will take. Multiply by 3. That will be the hours required. Works for us every time!
  6. Wow, look at how she's grown! Beautiful
  7. LOL You are making us work for it Ray! I'm not saying a word, everyone else will have to look too!
  8. Nice job! Wish I were so industrious...
  9. Not sure how long it will keep alex. I give Timber a quarter cup everyday and it lasts fine at room temp until the 3# bag is gone.
  10. I know nothing about babies so hesitate to comment, but when my adult acts similar it is because he wants my attention and wants it pronto.
  11. I posted this on your facebook page but I'll say it again here, get signed up for amazon smile! I'll pick Marden's Ark when you do. Just keep us posted.
  12. Timber likes http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=23423 in the Tikal blend. Like everything else, tastes are very individual from bird to bird.
  13. I'm glad all is well. Better safe than sorry is my motto too!
  14. Maybe you should add a section to your website bluedawg! "Exclusive parrot toy designs" or the like...
  15. Very interesting stuff, thanks for posting! Lois, I have the backpack Pack-o-bird but no experience with the other.
  16. Looks great! Can't wait to see the finished product
  17. Mine is a pole type with an adjustable "neck" so I place the light part on top of the cage. Mine is like this: http://www.amazon.com/Zoo-Med-AvianSun-Deluxe-Floor/dp/B006L49LHC/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1408286893&sr=8-2&keywords=avian+sun+light
  18. The instructions with the bulb should tell you what distance it needs to be from them. There is also a "burn-in" period with the bulbs that calls for a different distance, so read the instructions carefully. In my situation, placement of the bulb is difficult too. I put it 18 inches from one of Timber's favorite perches. However, his cage is very large and he moves all over it. I'm not sure how much time he gets under the light with the proper distance, but we all do the best we can!
  19. Congratulations on your new arrival! Post some pics when you can
  20. What a beautiful baby and how exciting to finally have her home! Can't wait to here more as time goes by. I love seeing them grow up on the forum
