  1. That was great! Alfie is an excellent "quacker"
  2. What a story and what a relief for you to have found Gabby! Good luck with the new baby and getting Gabby "resettled." Keep us posted and upload some pics when you can!
  3. I think you are on to something there Acappella! I hadn't thought about that, but it is true of Timber too. He always preens after taking a full bath (his idea). He seems to enjoy being sprayed, but often drips dry after that.
  4. I continue to have a "yearning" for an Amazon. Timber is so needy and takes so much time that adding another bird worries me. I'm not sure he could handle the competition! However, if a situation presents itself and there is an Amazon needing a home I suspect I wouldn't say no...
  5. LOL What a great video! Kilaya looks like king of his domain in the spoon video! What a spoiled baby. Like most on this forum!
  6. I have no experience with dlink but I know it is one of the major brands. I imagine it will work fine for you! I have to say that I love being able to take a peek at Timber from wherever I am. It is so reassuring.
  7. I'm pretty sure Nancy has mentioned her grey having a thing for her son's toes.. the point being I've heard this before on the forum! My opinion, and there will probably be others, is just to let her be and let her commune with your feet.
  8. Timber is off and on with the preening. Sometimes he does, sometimes he appears to "drip-dry" as well. It probably just depends on what he feels need doing at the time!
  9. It's so cool to hear them start talking! You may have an early talker there. It certainly isn't unheard of. My first thought was that, just like a toddler saying "no" to everything, Poet will say "I don't want to" to everything you say
  10. I have this one http://www.amazon.com/Foscam-FI8910W-Network-Camera-Two-Way/dp/B006ZP8UOW/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1409337868&sr=8-2&keywords=foscam+ip+camera You can view it on any computer, phone or tablet. The setup can be a bit tricky, but I'm not a tech and I managed to do it. I didn't use the motion activation feature, mainly because I didn't know if it would work well at the range from Timber that it was an I have four cats milling around too. Sterling has a later model. Hopefully he will chime in here. I think his has more features than mine, which is older. That said, I love it! I can also record segments of him talking or doing something I want to video.
  11. That is truly horrible, on top of the finger! When it rains it pours indeed.
  12. LOL Can you imagine the temperament of an AmaGrey?
  13. They are so smart! We always underrate their ability to empathize and comfort. Loved this story
  14. What beautiful pics and what a precious baby!
  15. LOL Tell Alfie that is an excellent quack he has there! Loud and clear as a bell
  16. Timber was liking that one! When he likes a song he shifts from foot to foot and bobs his head.
  17. Congratulations on your new baby! Can't wait to see more pics and updates on her daily life with you
  18. LOLOL That was funny Dave! We have a spider similar to your Garden spider Sterling. One of the nightmares of my childhood was running carelessly into their webs. The webs were huge and the spiders were too. I always just knew if I didn't find the spider it was lurking inside my clothes somewhere...
  19. I never knew until I got my Timber how very attached you become to them. It almost defies logic, but as someone said earlier, I think only other grey parronts can understand how hard it is to suffer such a loss. I'm so glad you have these wonderful pics and videos to remember Zoe by. God bless!
  20. How exciting! Yes, background and pics please. Love those baby pictures
  21. I can give you an opinion Lori. Many of our members take their birds with them on trips like this. If you would be able to keep the temperature regulated (i.e. A/C, heat, whatever is required) Maggie would probably be fine. If you leave her home, my experience is that Timber prefers to stay in his home environment even if he doesn't get his usual out of cage time. He is very resistant to change, and would freak out in a boarding situation I think. I left him home for a week while I was gone on business. My daughter-in-law fed and cleaned, but was not able to let him out much because she can't handle him. She would sit by his cage and talk and whistle with him while she was here. If your son is going to be around and Maggie is used to him, she would probably prefer to be home with him than being boarded and at least you would know what kind of care she was getting and that she wasn't being exposed to disease. Others with more experience may have other responses! Good luck
